- Steven Rinella talks with comedian Jeff Foxworthy.
Topics discussed: Foxworthy’s best work according to Steve, “The Incomplete Deer Hunter”; moo shu matzo balls; deer shot during Mardi Gras; a correction on Steve’s use of the word “crescendo”; eclipsing the apex of one’s splendor; when Foxworthy met Bruce Springstein; when the Beverly Hills Dodge dealership won’t actually sell you a truck; when deer needed to be brought into Georgia; the huge market for blue collar and redneck comedy; meeting your career and your wife five minutes apart; mountain lion sightings; how Jeff has sold more comedy records than anyone who’s ever lived; becoming a bowhunter; managing the farm for wildlife; arrowhead hunting meth heads; when Jeff found a 7,000-year-old pipe; when you’re old enough to derive happiness out of being involved in another person’s hunt; still not knowing exactly what folks are going to laugh at; and more.

Look man, it takes a lot to move generations of people. But here we have, two dudes from two different generations just chit chatting, talking, presumably, mostly to people from three different generations themselves, and making it all resonate with a profound level with reason and humility.
This was a hell of an episode.
This is a hell of a comment. We really appreciate it, thanks for listening.
I’ve seen Jeff twice in concert and he’s real, but this, said it all. He’s simply a guy who loves life.
Awesome podcast, loved every minute of it. I feel the same as Jeff. Love just being home on my farm. Don't need anything else. God, my husband, my dogs, my horses on my land.
Y not walk threw his mounts and talk about them that be cool
Steve this was one of the best podcasts you have ever done. Good on you for having this conversation with Jeff Foxworthy!
I feel it's time for Steve to have Jeff on a MeatEater episode!
The last 20 minutes were legitimately amazing. Foxworthy is a genuine person.
I was thinking the same thing. A meat eater episode about deep south deer hunting would be nice too. Just realizing how it's all about the Midwest and Alaska.
@@Steve-ev6vx i agree. That is why so many tell Deep South southerners they need long range calibers with high BCs.
Agreed. People need to hear this and take it to heart.
Agreed! It made me emotional hearing him talk about coming to realize the problems driving homelessness. In my own life there came a time where I realized that were it not for family and friends I would have found myself homeless.
That needs to be clipped and shared everywhere!!
This world needs more Jeff Foxworthys.
Thanks for traveling to do this Steve. It was well worth it
This felt like a nostalgia hit that I didn't know I needed.
So happy to hear from Jeff Foxworthy again!
"have you seen boobs? They're not bad either" had me rolling
Hilarious hahaha!
Foxworthy may be your best podcast. I love these tough life, working hard, good old days stories. Thanks Steven great show/ podcast!
Is no one going to mention how good his natural turkey call is!?
I had no idea how bad I needed this podcast. I grew up on Jeff Foxworthy cassette tapes, he’s the man
This was the best podcast you have ever done! I didn't want it to end. Please bring Jeff back and do a hunt with him or even an audible book like you did with Clay. Thanks for all you do for hunters and conservation!
We need more solo Steve interviews please. I love the pod cast as is but throwing in some long format 1 on 1 shows would be awesome
Stop yelling and give grace. Jeff encapsulates what Americans should be. Great conversation and one I needed to hear.
Not only is Jeff funny, but after watching this I learned he is also one WISE person!! He has figured out the true meaning of what is important and is someone I would LOVE to spend some time looking for arrowheads, hunting, and just enjoying so much of the philosophies we share.
THANK YOU Steven for sharing this wonderful interview with us!!
Always loved his comedy….and after this interview….I respect him a great human being and a classy hunter…..he is one for the good guys.
I could listen to Jeff & Steve talk forever. Great episode!
Listen every week, love the crew. But Steve alone with a guest… this is next level!
Really appreciated the last portion of this conversation. Loved that you were open to having that discussion.
If meateater produced an episode of Jeff and Steve hunting Africa it would be the most viewed hunting video of all time.
Maybe the best interview this podcast has ever done.
The crossover I didn't know I needed
Man I loved the Jeff Foxworthy hunting skits back in the day.
52 years old all hail Steve. Your my new god. Aussie love .
Jeff Foxworthy has been my favorite comedian, because of how I can relate to his comedy. Who knew he’d make me cry at the end of this podcast
Now this is an amazing example of an episode with a celebrity that interesting and well worth a listen.
Jeff is one of my favorite comedians of all time. I completely get his take on grandchildren. Of course you love your children, but with grandchildren, it's an unconditional love.
"Well friends, we finally got eem, ole smokey ghost mossy horns there..."
Dude, Jeff would be the best grandpa ever.
I need that chair Steve is sitting on in my life.
Best ever. Great jobs guys. 40 second TH-cam commercials suck but great episode. Love that Steve closed the laptop too
I could listen to the 2 of them talk for a year. Wish we had more people like them left.
"suck it Rogan" may be the best podcast ending of our time😂
From someone who made a living out of outdoor writing, I appreciated this a lot.
What a fantastic conversation about life! Thank you! We need more of this type of interaction! Blessings to both of you.
This was absolutely enjoyable. I felt like i was in the room with them. Just good people!
Jeff Foxworthy is my new favourite human being
My dad looked for arrowheads for 25 years, I went with him a lot as a kid .
Jeff, is one cool 😎 dude! Great interview! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely amazing conversation. Thank y’all!
Hit it out of the park with this one! Really enjoyable. Thank you Steve and Jeff.
Outstanding episode Steve, Great conversation. Could listen to this episode for another 2 hours. 👍😎
Interviews/episodes like this could be their own series
"Suck it Rogan!" Absolutely hilarious!
Good job “right there no matter who you are “
Both of you, thanks for this from an avid hunter from Canada.
We love you both.
Steve, you and Jeff should go shoot stuff for your show.
This was one of the best podcasts I’ve ever seen. Gotta be top 3 of all meateater pods. Maybe top 5 of all time.
Fox Jeffworthy and Steve are such a great combo.
Just so awesome. Insight, humor, wisdom, curiosity, genuine appreciation for life and for each other...this is what we need more of in the world.
100%!!!
Jeff's actions have made me a better person and I've enjoyed life more because of him.... Thank you Jeff
Jeff and Steve, what an awesome conversation. Joe will be jealous, lol. Both very genuine men. Thanks for sharing 🦌😎👍
If this was 48 hours long I would have listened to it, only thing that would make this better is having Rogan there too.
We need a Jeff and Steven hunting trip for something crazy.
One of your best EVER Steve!!!
it's nice when Steve can really work his craft and have a great interview - the normal variety show has its moments, but this was excellent
That was a great bit of listening.
This was a fantastic podcast. One of my favorites.
Very real moments here. I love the passion he has for life. I wish people would realize as hunters we are also the biggest funders of conservation!
Thank you Jeff!
Steve Rinella is an excellent interviewer. He has the rare capacity to actually listen and respond to what is said.
Great conversation! Jeffs comedy actually helped me through a whole lot of dark times as a child in more ways than one. Im a survivor of childhood s^$ual abuse so i felt very isolated and alone and unseen and scared. When i found his tapes they made me laugh to myself alone in my bedroom. Then when i started reciting his jokes in school it made people laugh and i didnt feel so isolated anymore. Then it triggered something in me and i realized that i could be funny naturally. It made a lot of the bullying go away and ended up bringing me to meet my lifeling best friend in the 4th grade as he was a Foxworthy fan also. Jeff has 100 percent earned the right to sit home and let people come to him but i really do hope he decides to be on Rogans podcast. I think it would really spread his humor and message to a lot of folks who it would otherwise be lost on.
Best podcast i have ever seen. Thanks Steve and Jeff
As a hunter and a growing comic, this is amazing.
I had never heard of Jeff, I enjoyed the conversation and the amazing attitude. I'll be checking his work out for sure!
Nice interview. Shows one of the best sides of Mr. Foxworthy and his life view too.
This should be the model for successful podcasts! Let the guest tell the stories! Listen and interject very little. Great job Steve and team
Only problem I have with this interview is that it was ONLY close to 90 minutes! Fantastic time and great interview.
I absolutely loved this! Steve, THANK YOU for going to Jeff! What an amazing conversation!!! ❤
I have loved Jeff Foxworthy my whole ass entire life! This just put him in infamousie
incomplete deer hunter is pure nostalgia
Thank you Jeff. I relate so much to your early hunting. 50+ years ago deer and turkey in Iowa were rarely seen. Small game hunting was target of hunting. God bless, love your humor.
I enjoy listening to them talk. Just so comfortable 😌 ☺️.
The best TH-cam podcast I've sat and watched in a really long time. It's nice to see you guys so down to earth and keeping things real. Much respect and thank you for sharing what is real and how others say "our" real should be. Huge difference between the two.
Awesome interview. I would love to hang with both these guys for a day
Jeff Foxworthy is so funny he doesn't have to be defamatory or say one thing profane. Brilliance is harder than just funny.
Man did I need this. I love both of these guys.
Great podcast! 1:15:00 mark to the end is as real as it gets!! love it!
Great episode. Was really interesting hearing his stories. I remember hearing his stuff when i was growing up and he was just staying to take off.
Jeff... you just described my life as a child hunting.
Jeff Foxworthy looks great, I remember him from way back! He didn't age!
Awesome pod! Both of you are truly amazing people. Thanks
Love this conversation! So good to see such a celebrity so common and down to earth. Very refreshing.
Didn't expect to see a trampled by turtles reference! Some of the best bluegrass!
Jeff foxworthy might have been the first comedian I heard and could recognize. When I first got into comedy I only wanted “clean” stuff because I was 10-12 and foxworthy did an amazing job of being child friendly enough to where me and my dad liked him. I grew to love all of blue collar, with Ron being the one I saved for last for obvious reasons.
One of my favorite podcasts I’ve ever seen
Great conversation, some laughs and a good outlook on life, thank you, I needed this today
Loved listening to jeff foxworthy growing up!!!
The grandkids stuff is so true...
About exactly what I had hoped from this conversation, thank you. Do Hank Parker soon please
Steve ,I do Believe you and I sat at a fire ring at the Michigan Trappes covention,..this Interview With Jeff brings to Men together that I said now for a number of Years of Who I'd love to Have at Our Grouse Camp in Northern Lower Michigan.. Jeff I've wished I had a Way get an invite to you from 20+years when I found out YOU Loved Quail& Dove hunts...An American Awesome Interview Truly one of Meateaters best ,,,THANKS GUYS
😂 completely guilty of having a few parties and waking up to some Mardi Gras deer in my living room
"A glorious absence of sophistication" LMAO
Great conversation. Thank you
Such a inspiring get together. Fry some venison an crack a joke. Should be a tee shirt
There it is. Has everything he ever needs or needed right there. Have to respect that. Genuine man. God bless.
This made me happy on a level where my eyes got dust in them.
When lived philosophy exposes some of the deeper layers. Beautiful.
This was an amazing episode.
Trampled by Turtles is a very good band. Very cool they were mentioned. Jeff is just awesome. Very good show 🤘😎
One of your best Steve. Thanks
great podcast, love both these guys.
What an incredible episode! Well Done!!!
