      I wanna say something...
      There's something your leaving out.
If I were to follow this video step by step. I did 7 times. Smh. You'll never get what your "profile" is. Idk what's changed or what you've done prior to releasing this profile but somethings different.

Only Ninjaflex profile can be imported. For the rest I've got a message:
Failed to import profile from D:/My Projects/3D Printer/Ender 3/chep_cura_profiles_4.4/CHEP_Cura_Profiles_4.4/Magic0.28.curaprofile: Could not find a quality type super for the current configuration.

What is the gap distance between your nozzle and the bed using your .12 Super Profile? I use .011 feeler gauge when leveling and it seems like I'm not getting enough flow for it to stick to the bed. I know that it sticking isn't the issue. I even tried to slow down your initial layer.

Use the Cura machine profile not a custom version.

  • @ocsahc

Absolutely the best PETG profile ever and the best print I have ever done! No boogers. No nest of strings. No schmutz on the nozzle. All I changed in the Magic0.12.curaprofile was print temp (240), plate temp (70), retraction (3mm) and Print Speed (40mm/s). You are the Cura "Whisperer".

You’ve entered an area of slicer testing that can go on for days and days! Those are some great ideas to try, and wonderful to see you passing them along to your viewers. It is a highly coordinated dance to get all of these settings (plus temperature, etc.) to play nice together.

Had to put my printer in storage for a few days over the Christmas holidays to make room. I've ordered myself the X and Y belt tensioners along with the SKR Mini E3 V1.2 board. So when they all arrive I'll have some work to do and keep me busy. I'll definitely look into upgrading from Cura 4.0 to 4.4 and give your profiles a run. Enjoy the rest of the holidays and all the best for the new year.

I was having a LOT of difficulty with failed prints with the grid fill. I switched to cubic fill and all is good.
It seemed as if rapid retraction and extension was fatiguing the filament to the breaking point just as it was entering the tube.
This was happening at the same height every time only with one specific model (Yoda with soup) ... Strange indeed..

Coasting caused small gaps in my layers which are also visible in Cura (4.4) preview mode. I have adjusted the coasting volume setting to a lower value (0.008 in my case). This resulted in perfect prints for me. Hope this helps when having the same issue.

CHEP, I already saw a comment below, but a lot of people might have issues with e steps/flow rates. Personally even with calibrated steps I need to use around 90% flow. Without reducing the flow I was also getting a lot of zits in places where prints have started. Overall thank you again for the profiles, your channel is a great help with upgrading my printer and learning new things.

Every filament is different but many are getting the same results I am. If you have to reduce to 90% flow for the whole print that would imply calibration is still off.

CHEP Thank you, I will recheck everything again. Overall yes, the quality is great with this profile. Also it is really amazing that you discuss things with the viewers, thank you for that.

@@FilamentFriday Can you elaborate on this a bit? The flow % in Cura is the extrusion multiplier, and from what I understand, should be part of your normal printer calibration, after you do your e-steps (without load). Mine personally is 88%. What calibration would be off to cause your extrusion multiplier to not be 100%?

    • @ashepherd74
      @ashepherd74 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@FilamentFriday Let me elaborate a little on my reply.
After watching a few more of your videos, you adjusted your e-steps after you attached your hot-end back to your extruder. I don't think this is correct. Your e-steps is to make sure that when the gears on your extruder turn, it knows how many steps to output 100mm, without load.
After you calibrate and set this, you add load to it by hooking your hot end back up to it. You then calculate your extrusion multiplier (flow %). This will vary based on many factors, including the temperature of your hot end, the type of material, as well as other settings in your slicer. None of these will affect the e-steps from your printers settings.
When I change material, from PLA to PETG for example, my e-steps are the same (I've verified this) as long as the diameter of the filament is the same. However, because of the different material type, and hotter temperature, my extrusion multiplier is different.
I can store this setting with my Cura profile specific to my material, and not have to go back and touch the printer settings themselves. So, I have one set of profiles for PLA, and another for PETG and never have to change my printers e-steps or any other settings. It's all in my slicer.

I have to admit I tried the profile changes and didn't see much improvement, and on some combinations an actual degradation in the final print. I did some other prints and wasn't please with the results from my standard profile so went back and had another go with CHEP's. This time a I did notice a marked improvement, though I did use sharpest corner for z seam instead of random. Thanks for the profile!! Great work.

Turn compensate outer wall overlaps off if you're getting janky outward corners with little gaps on your prints where the z seam is.

I recently started started using your Cura profile. And I can say they worked incredible! Thanks for all work you put in them. Can't wait to try this one out
By the way. Have you ever tried tweaking Ironing settings in Cura? I tried The 3D Print General's settings and it really worked well. After some experimenting with it. I'm currently using 30% Ironing Flow, 0.2 Ironing Line Space and 120mm/s ironing speed. I believe it can be improved further

3:51 I just got to this stage, no blobs protruding outside the print surface on the start/end of the layer line, only those small inwards dips. In the end I still like it better all aligned in one place (stitch line) rather than scattered all around. I guess, sociologically we are used to plastic products having a straight vertical seam from the molding process, so It's easier on the eyes when it's all around "smooth" and when you turn it and see the seam line you just "selective perception" it out, and don't pay much attention to it.

My only critique right now is that your cura profiles have fairly large layer heights. My standard is .06, anything bigger is only for testing and throw aways. I'd love to see your take on a finer profile.

Excellent as always CheP, . One minor thing, with the magic 0.28 you forgot to set the outer wall flow to 95% ?
