Awesome! The delay valve removal is by far the BIGGEST difference maker of the 3. Feels so much better and more direct when shifting. Just make sure the clutch gets bled properly and you’re good!
So I'm doing a clutch replace on my Mk5 gti and I pulled the clutch bleeder block. I took it apart, put it in the parts cleaner and saw this little plastic thing come out. Where did that come from? What is it for? Now I know...
Hi Bro, may I know two things? 1. what you used to catch the brake fluid by hose to some kind of bottle? (is it something what I can buy somwhere?) 2. Where can I find those white plugs to secure the brake fluid leak from both ends of connectors? and what is the diameter of them?
The little yellow plastic part was the CDV (clutch delay valve). Its purpose is to delay the hydraulic fluid in the clutch from returning to the “engaged” side, which results in your shifts being slower. Automakers have used this part in recent years in order to market manual cars to drivers who aren’t very good at manual - it’s supposed to make the car “easier” to drive by bringing the time between gear changes up to the bad driver’s shift timing. Taking this piece out removes the fluid’s flow restriction and will make the car shift in a much more predictable and familiar (to us seasoned manual drivers) manner.
After you bled the clutch, did you have to turn the car on for the clutch pedal to feel normal again? (Not stick down to the ground and have to manually bring it back up)
Diego. I need advice. I bought a Golf with manual and stage3. the clutch pedal is somewhat soft and loose. in addition, sometimes it doesn't bounce back completely. I vented. why might this be so?
Try this on a 2020 VWGLI. Did not work out. Remove the small plastic piece after taking out the top part and it loose in the bleeder valve. I actually made a mistake of trying it twice. If someone can send a comment on what I may be doing wrong I would appreciate it. I followed everything he said.
hello, so im currently having an issue on my 17 gti when releasing the clutch after pushing it in, it sort of sticks. it got to a point where it stayed to the floor and i could pull it out while staying in gear with the clutch out not moving. there is fluid in the resivour, i bled the clutch and it was fine for about 3 hours of driving then slighty stuck again then didnt do it again. its like a rare occasion. would doing this mod possibly help? or could it be my master cylinder thats connected to the pedal itself? stumped here
Hi bro i hwve a golf r 2015 the clutch feels very heavy qhen pressing oe changing geara any advice bro has good bite point no symptons etc judt feels heavy
It’s more for quicker shifts it allows you to bang gears easier. You may have another issue possibly getting air in the system causing the clutch to feel sort of stuck
It’s very difficult to get into second gear when the car is cold. Could this be related to the delay valve? I have to wait till rpm goes down to 1k before I can shift to second. And sometimes it grinds too. 2019 GTI base model. Thanks.
This delete is moot on stg 2 or higher power levels with an aftermarket clutch. Most just leave it in. Removing it with the stock clutch and DMF may give a more positive feel.
no it is not, i have a stage 3 setup with stage 3 clutch and finally did this delete. It is night and day differance. i hated this car because of that stoopid piece of plastc. i just wonder if the ecs upgrade one would make it even better. 100% improvement, hesitation is pretty much gone
@@banditodwardo4028 i installed the ECS bleeder block and deleted the swirl valve via a stainless steel clutch line. salami removed the assist spring under the clutch pedal. when i first responded i was still on stock clutch. since then, the first 2 mods (getting rid of the dumb clutch “helpers”) will prevent premature failure on an aftermarket clutch.
Absolutely the best and easiest clutch mod to do. Makes the car feel so much more responsive when you shift
I think this was my favorite clutch mod. Instantly you feel the difference. It shifts so much smoother now. (Not placebo lol)
Did the spring removal, have the parts to do the stop, will def do the valve removal, keep up the MK7 DIY mods!

Great mod to do. How did the self bleeding go? Any issues? Usually at my shop we always bleed a few times 2 person method
Seen this valve in diagrams but never knew what it did - Very good video let's get that Golf R moving nice and quick without it!
Great vid dude. Clear video and process. Going to try this
Thank you! Try it out I’m sure your car will feel much better after doing this
Thank you for your time helping us out 😊 best regards

I’m going to do it on my S1 asap.. stock clutch is awful if you want to switch gears quick, specially 1st into 2nd
Great video! What size caps did you use to block off the line?
8mm
Think I’m gonna try this without removing the spring on the pedal. See what it’s like alone. Then I’ll probably do the spring.
how was it?
@@sillygoosinator good! Recommend this mod above all else. Removal of spring less noticeable but still worth doing. :)
Hello, what exactly is the little yellow plastic for and have you put the little plastic back?

No sir, if the clutch is bled properly it will feel normal if done right even if the car is off
@@DArias Thanks man, gonna keep bleeding
@@DArias thanks for the inspiration man. Clutch engagement feels way better
where did you get the caps from to block those two parts off?
Autozone! A pack of them is like $3
Block black into blace. Bonus.
Can you do this on earlier generations?
This doesn't seem to exist on the Mk7 TSI. Just looked at mine and isn't the same configuration... I wonder if the TSI has one??

I have to remove the yellow piece and then reassemble everything but without the yellow piece. ?
Where do youbget the caps from? Cant seem to find them anywhere.
When you were test driving, did you try shifting with cruise control engaged? If you did does it affect it at all?
During the test drive I did not but I have used cruise control since then and have had 0 issues at all

Bro this easily makes a huge difference…couldn’t agree more takes away the fake feeling of the pedal
By far this made the biggest difference to drivability and clutch feel

What caps can you use to stop the line from leaking?
Not sure the size but at Autozone they sell a small pack of vacuum caps that’s very cheap. It’ll have the right size
8mm ID caps
Does it seep out a little with it out?
Was yiurs heavy on clurch pedal or spongy?
Is this still on the stock clutch?
Yes it is
So what was tthe issue with yours ?
Did this change the pedal height that the clutch engages/disengages?
Does not change. Only changes you’ll feel is that it’s easier to shift quickly and the valve feels a bit more natural if that makes sense
I have an 09 cc is this delay valve on older vws?
Does this improve the clutch coming back up because I feel like sometimes the clutch is slow coming back up if you let off quick

I had this too but it completely disappeared after changing the transmission fluid. Mind you, I have a 2013 MK7 GTI
This means your syncros are bad, from first to second or you need to change the lifetime fluid.
Does this gearbox have slave cylinder?
Yessir internal slave
Is it better to remove the small yellow piece?
thats the whole point of the video
