So helpful!! Thank you so much for your very clear and concise video. It not only helped me save a few bucks, it gave me a feeling of accomplishment. I'm an 80-year-old widow. If I can do it, anybody can!!

There is no set screw in my handle, but the handle won't come off. Should I just pull harder or pry it off? Maybe the previous home owner glued it on since they did similar fixes on other locations... Any input is appreciated.

Rookie reporting in. Had this issue and thank you for the video! Did not realize the phillips head was underneath. I did as directed, however, snugged it up, replaced the handle and set screw. All snug to the touch but as soon as I turned the water on, using the mechanical advantage of the shower handle, it loosened up again. Not sure what to do next! And, yes, it is not easy being like this!

I recently did this and went a step further to replace the Moen posi cartridge. My cartridge had been in there for over 15 years, and was very very difficult to remove. To link some info, there’s a tool called the Lakeview cartridge puller, which appears to be the right tool for the job (I have no affiliation with them). You could also create a more DIY and cheaper tool using the same concept as the Lakeview puller, but with a Danco cartridge puller and a modified 1 inch pvc pipe. Thanks for the video Danny, I think it’s awesome you put stuff out there to help people!

Thank you I just fixed my shower handle popping out with the help of your post. Very helpful for home owners without any plumbing knowledge. Thanks again.

I don't have a screw at all it's loose but it won't come off either?

Make sure you cover up the drain so that you don't lose the screw! I didn't have the exact size Allen wrench but a T15 bit worked just as well.

I recently replaced my cartridge because it was leaking. It's fixed, but now the handle is loose when it's angled diagonally (between 180° and 90°). I can't tighten the screw anymore and it does feel tight in the starting position (no wiggle). However, when you turn it to those angles it won't stay in place and angle down with gravity. Are there any recommendations you can give for a fix? I've scoured the internet and am having a hard time finding a fix.

Got a new place and handle is missing the screw. Is the 6 point allen head the screw? Thank you!

How do I make sure the hex screw is aligning correctly to go into the interior handle plate after the black piece. From what I can tell the screw should go through the outside of the handle into the black piece and then through the little plate inside the handle. Every time I try, it seems to miss that interior plate so the handle just falls off.

Hey this got me halfway there. The black piece has gotten twisted so that the orientation of the bottom hex screw was to the left. Despite removing the Phillips head screw entirely from the black piece, I cannot seem to turn it back to the proper orientation, and also keep the water off. Any tips?
