Vinegar is wonderful but be mindful it’s acid. I was soaking chrome Tub drain plug to get calcium off, forgot and left it on 24 hours and it removed chrome plating.
That's what I was thinking if it could happen. I thought if my chrome coated shower head would be damaged from letting it soak in vinegar. The acid cad damage the coating obviously. All the best !
Over the years, I just unscrew the shower head, put it in a good-sized bowl and fill it with vinegar. Soak over night and clean the remnants off with a potato brush. Sometimes need to use a toothpick to clean one or two holes out. Thanks for your video.
A lot of modern shower heads have rubber nozzles on the ends, so you can simply reach up with your bare hand and sort of forcefully rub at it, like you're trying to wipe a stain off something. Do it while the shower is running. The limescale build up in the rubber nozzles will crumble and be expelled by the water. If you let it get as bad as the one in the video of course you'll need to use chemicals, but if you just reach up with your hand every time you take a shower and make a point to give the showerhead a quick wipedown, you'll never have to.
I did that a few days ago and it made it worse, so it's soaking in vinegar now. If that fails I'll just buy a new one I guess. edit 7 hours later: didn't work one bit.
I have used this method on our rental properties’ shower heads for 20 + years. What amazes me is that this guy=y had the smarts to monetize this old technique on TH-cam. I have told many of my tenants about this over the years too. It works.. Just leave it overnight after your shower and remove the next time you shower….
It's also a good idea to remove all the aerator from your faucets and clean the screens if you ever need to turn the main water supply to the house off for any reason, and when you turn the water back on let it run a minute before putting the aerator back on to get the sediment out, you should notice an improvement in your water pressure .
Vinegar is wonderful, it’s non toxic, it cleans shower heads beautifully and is a great replacement for cleaning kitchen countertops instead of using windex
I used the white vinegar on my tub because of the mineral deposits. It really worked. I closed the tub drain and poured in one gallon of white vinegar. Then I just barely dribbled cold water into the tub. By morning tub was full of water mixed with vinegar. I took a paper towel and wiped down the tub and all of the mineral deposits were gone. I will try your method on my shower head.
I wish I knew this two weeks ago. Shortly after showering, I developed the acute onset of an allergic dermatitis. Not being an allergy type person, I had to go thru a Process of Elimination checklist that took 2 weeks! Only to find out it was the shower head! I purchased it 5 years ago. I always sprayed the outside with a bathroom cleaner when cleaning the shower stall. Never thought to disinfect the inside of it. After seeing this video, I took it off and bought a new one. The painful rashes disappeared within a few days. My shower head will get disinfected every 6 months whether it needs it or not!
Do what this guy suggests and use an old tooth brush to really clean the deposits out! Some models have flexible nozzle tips that also make it easier to break deposits loose. An old home repair but a good one.
I've had a troublesome showerhead that I have to keep trying to clean, which does not work well. I can't believe and simple and easy your solution worked!
CLR does the same as the vinegar but in about 20 minutes. Also twist ties are probably easier than trying to double up a rubber band. Good video, no BS intro, no clickbait, no "like, share, and subscribe please, cuz I'm desperate for monies", just good quality advice. Thank you!
@@SuwinTzi With about a teaspoon of baking soda and just enough water to make a paste with an old tooth brush work it into the shower head. wait a few minutes and then use a cup with just enough vinegar to submerge the shower head. don't be startled if you see form come flowing over the cup. An easier way for kitchen sinks is to fully extend the nozzle and place it inside a glass or measuring cup with vinegar. Use a chip clip or clothes pin and clamp it to the hose near the pipe.

I have this exact faucet that I cleaned today. For this faucet head, unscrew it from the hose end after the vinegar soak as there is a tiny screen where the faucet head screws into the hose that requires cleaning as well. This screen fills with tiny stones that the baggie vinegar soak can't reach. Be sure the hose doesn't slide into the faucet tube without the faucet head while cleaning it.
I recently soaked a garden sprayer head in a small bucket of pure vinegar for three days. It did nothing to clean the nozzles. So I did a little research and discovered that the acidity of vinegar decreases over time, so maybe a nice, fresh bottle will do the trick.
In my experience, what works even better than vinegar (acetic acid) is citric acid, which is usually available in the canning section at the supermarket. I keep a bag of it in the pantry, and mix up a fresh batch (around 4-5 teaspoons per pint of water, which is a pretty strong solution) whenever something needs cleaning. Using hot water will increase its effectiveness. Unlike vinegar, it has no smell, and works great for cleaning bathroom tile, too. It's safe to use - just don't get it in your eyes, and rinse your hands well afterwards.
Clorox diluted to 1-2% works fine, or hydrogen peroxide to 3-4% if you don’t mind the cost. Submerge and come back in 20 minutes and rinse and you’re golden.
Thanks, the Molen head unscrews so no need to keep a baggie like that. Also, CLR does a great job. In addition to the head, the aerators likely need to be demineralized. Vinegar has been one of the most handy things I've discovered. It's like liquid duct tape! It's a good general cleaner (I mix it with dawn and essential oils), a good laundry booster/fabric softener, and I even drink it (ACV with the mother intact) in my tea now for my health and it's making a difference. Edit: I'm a Southerner also and was used to ice tea. It took me a while to get used to hot tea but I did and now it's great.
I've seen a video somewhere explaining how drinking a glass of water mixed with a bit of vinegar before consuming sugary products can help with the following glucose spike
@@franqusco Studies show that is in fact the case. I just stopped drinking it though because I got cavities pop up recently. I don't know if it was that or my increase of eating raisins, but I stopped them both. I suspect it was the raisins, as the vinegar was diluted in the tea. Most of the benefits I was getting from ACV had to do with digestion and it stimulating me to produce more stomach acid, which cured all kinds of stuff. You can take a Betaine HCL pill for that, so that's what I'm doing now.
Another tip: Instead of using a baggie full of vinegar with a rubber band, pull the faucet down to the bottom of the sink into a cupful of vinegar. Secure the extension line with a medium metal clip used for large printed reports.
Thank-you for demonstrating this so quickly and with easy visuals. I appreciate not sitting through long preludes and unnecessary dialogue.

I’ve used for years great tip 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Would apple cider vinegar work?
How do you clean a really wide diameter rain fall shower head? I don’t know if there’s a large enough baggy for it.
Prob just a large container! =w=
Prob just a large container! =w= if you’re able to unscrew it 🤔
They do have those gallon zip lock baggies as well! :3
Does the vinegar hurt the exterior look of the kitchen faucet or a shower head?
White vinegar the cleaning miracle.
Thanks for the comment. Drinking it is another level🙂
Ice tea is sickly sweet with tons of sugar. Horrible.
@@HAL-dm1ehwhat is ACV?
I love your accent! It’s so adorable
Muchas gracias. Will do
Good advice!😊❤
Glad you found it valuable
how about cloged in those tiny holes? any advice?
Another tip: Instead of using a baggie full of vinegar with a rubber band, pull the faucet down to the bottom of the sink into a cupful of vinegar. Secure the extension line with a medium metal clip used for large printed reports.
you can't do that with a shower head.
Nice job. The "before" picture probably looks a lot like the shower heads in most homes.
Very cool info
Great idea!
White vinegar is also awesome for cleaning the soap scum and hard water stains off glass shower doors
Is there an easy way to just remove the assembly so I can clean inside it too?
