The hardest Mario 64 speedrun challenge I've ever done.

- This challenge was much, much more than I had anticipated.
Many moons ago, I began grinding towards the 120 Star speedrun no damage challenge world record. I originally got the idea from Siglemic doing it and completing it in 1:52:55. I never had any idea that collecting all 120 stars whilst taking no damage was as difficult as it is. I have been speedrunning Mario 64 for nearly a decade and have done many a speedrun and many different speedrun challenges. No challenge other than going for 120 Star World Record is as hard as going for the 120 Star World Record damageless.

1:05:07 I keep coming back to this video for this moment here. I was there live for that, and I could feel the sense of defeat in the stream as you just ran around doing random movements. It was a tough moment, but in the end you triumphed over this

This was amazing, almost as good as the time when Clint got a former 2nd place run in OOT 100%, with a time of 4:22:19. This definitely takes a humble second place to that.

Jezus, Ghostboy has been editing for 3 months straight. Simp down playing the difficulty of this challenge and then just failing so many times😂😂😂🤣
At face value this is beyond incredible. Somehow it gets more unbelievable the deeper one analyzes what you've done here. During your run you perform hundreds upon hundreds of orientation movements, spacial placement maneuvers, and intricately exercise fine granular camera control based on whatever your current task requires. This is what I find to be the most impressive part of this achievement! All it would take is a small deviation from your planned route to become disoriented and potentially lose time or force a restart... But even when there was one of your very, very few minor missteps in this run, you immediately had a contingency in place and were able to reorient yourself to your desired spacial placement and direction.
This is beyond Super Mario 64. This is a vehicle on which you display a skill set that is something entirely difficult to comprehend from an outside perspective. I know I sure don't have the ability to commit to rote memory the kind of detail required to never miss a single step in something so insanely complex. On top of processing your exact coordinates and plane of view at nearly the rate of a computer, you still have to physically control the character and deal with the game mechanics...
This is amazing, and I congratulate you on your new personal best and of course the world record. Looking forward to more content sometime. You've set the bar really high, but I have no doubt you have the determination to succeed in something even more unbelievable.

This is by far my favorite Super Mario 64 speedrun video. The content and editing is so damn good. I'm new to watching Super Mario 64 speedrunning and damn Simply became my favorite QUICK.

Its always people doing pointless challenges in a game, yet the amount of time, effort, and perseverance they have to keep going just to hold that title is absurd. If speedrunning has taught me anything except glitches and tactics its to never give up, even if it seems theres no reason to keep trying, even if that reason is a number on a website. I totally agree, when I first heard him my initial reaction was like pshh this dude probably sucks at freestyling but he really is quite talented and doing it off the top of his head. Most people who "freestyle" have tons of prethought up lines and verses but simply really does make some bomb freestyles that are 100% actual freestyles! He's not gonna make a career out of it but as an amateur he's def real good 💯👍
