Weegee can still lower his record by several seconds but oh my god suigi set a record that's almost impossible to beat now. Even for Slipperynip it took 6 months of daily grinding 16 stars to set a new pb after his world record and this pb is still 6 seconds behind Suigis record.

First: Niconico's comment system is indeed gimmicked. Basically, you leave a comment at a particular point in the video, and the comment becomes bound to that timestamp. The rationale is probably to make the experience feel more live. Second: "W" is pronounced "ha" in Japanese. Thus, a string of Ws is essentially their online culture's equivalent to our "LOL" and variants. A similar thing is the number 8's Japanese name matching their onamatopoeia for applause, so that's what a string of 8s means. Strings of 7s or 9s both are derived from how that respective number compares to 8, value-wise.
I bought the system and this game when it came out in 1996. I was 16. I bought the madcatz arcade stick that had the threaded joystick that could be used for the d-pad or the analog stick. It was the n64 equivalent of the advantage joystick. It had turbo and slow motion. I discovered the rapid swim and the BLJ using that turbo function back then and even demonstrated the staircase BLJ to friends. Nobody thought it was that cool back then. 🤷 " Don't speak to me of the ancient magic. I was there when it was written. "
