am 48 now, found you by accident. just opened boxes of 25 year old or more models I have. I wanna do this again, you are B.A. Dr. Cranky love the rust stuff you do, not muck of a show and shine guy, love the matte colors and dirty boy look. keep doing tutorials on rusting and denting, thx
EXCELLENT!! I've been building a Hasegawa 23 window VW Transporter. I two-toned the body with white over aqua blue. I've been obsessing over just what to do with the interior. It being a van, there are 3 bench seats to consider. When I saw this video, I knew it was just what I was looking for. I Googled "psychedelic fabric patterns" and found a great pattern. I didn't have any fixative so I used hair spray and it worked. The end results are very nice and just the ticket to turn my VW into a hippie van from the 60s, DR. CRANKY - YOU IS DA MAN!!
I'll have to keep my eye out for the fat clear...LOL!!! Thank you for this wonderful vid. I'm gonna apply this tip to my 49' merc, now that's a deja vu moment...lol!!! Keep the awesome tips coming & thank you again, peace!!
I model trains, but always looking for tips and techniques (I occasionally do build model cars). I'm always impressed by folks in all hobbies that are willing to share what they have tried. Would just applying the glue to the back of the upholstery work, versus applying to the seat (might be cleaner)? Anyway - Thanks for sharing, and I've added you to my Subscription list and you’re very entertaining and informative - Thanks Again!

hi virgil i must say your work is inspiring i will try to see if i can manage to put up a video soon i am a new modelbuilder that fons this hobby relaxing and it triggers my imagination greetings from norway nooby
I am new at modeling and I hope this not a dumb question. First: what how do you use the caliper for and how do you use it? My next question is: can you tell me where you got your fabric pattern and can you explain the processes you used to print them on the paper? Is there a program I need to use?
I use the caliper to measure the with (or length) of the panels I need to upholster. Once you dial it, it stays dialed and then you can make your cut marks and they are always true. Oh, the patterns I find by using GOOGLE IMAGE and then look for your say zebra or cougar or whatever. It's all there. Using your word processing softward (I use WORD) you imported and then reduce it down to scale. Spray the paper with dullcote to seal the ink and and then use white glue to apply it. It's pretty straight forward. Good luck and have fun.
LOVE THE CONCEPT...im a fabric head myself...but this lead me to finding the perfect tv screen for "KHAOS" beat buy had laptopscreen adds that were scaled perfectly....

If you haven't done so, you should upload a video of your vw van- that would be great to see.
Thank you Dr Cranky for getting me back into the hobby.

could you use just gloss clear?
very cool but question, Why not cover the whole face of the seat?
hello you have taught me lots already thanks but can you use regular clearcoat please answer
Yes you can as long as you use the clear coat that comes with each paint system. If not, then you have to experiment on plastic spoons.
