  • Here's a quick video of how I install glass in my model cars, along with the products I use and why I use them. This is the easiest and best way that I've found to install windshields, without the glue marks or other pitfalls that can occur.

Excellent video... any advise on how to tint clear window for the more modern cars.. I found videos and on fb that you can add a few drops of smoke and clear yellow to specific brand thinners and dip the clearpart. They also use pledge revive it which we don't have in my country for the first dip prior the Thinner mixed tint. More dips to darken the tint. So my question is how would you do it and with what ? Thank you and I'm enjoying your videos - still have a lot to come and work through. Cheers

I'm surprised to hear you say that the windows can be popped out with a finger. I thought that the Bondene/Same Stuff/Tamiya and the like BONDED the plastic. That's why I rarely use Cyanoacrylate - because it doesn't bond at all.
As a matter of fact, I tested the strength by gluing a tube to a flash sheet and seeing how much pressure it would take to remove after it cured for a couple days. The tube came off, but it left material from the tube on the sheet, not a clean break at all. I've actually had the Bondene type bonders do fine THROUGH a layer of paint and primer and bond just fine.

Not sure where to take this but I'll give it a go here. I just subscribed. I'm getting back into modeling for fun after nearly 50 years so I'm old enough to realize I don't know jack squat. I bought a cheap open box Revell 57 Chevy hardtop kit to practice on. Seller said he had all the parts and did minor work on it and there was nothing ruined. All true except the windshield had already been glued to the body before any paint or other work. I want to remove the windshield to facilitate painting and such. It's being held by two spots on the inside of the roof which appear to be from the regular old tube of Testors glue. Two other spots have already given way so it gives me hope the windshield can be removed without cracking it or the roof. Can you give some tips how to safely remove the windshield? Thanks and I appreciate the crankiness.

I jut watched a video of yours from 2017 talking about paying for your channel, and help, if I understand that correctly. I don't have a problem with it. I was just asking a question about the hobby. I mean no offense or insult or anything and I certainly didn't realize it's a touchy subject. I'm just a guy trying to get by during quarantines and lockdowns and other crap. Thanks for your time.

Try this .... Take a 1 gallon freezer bag fill it with water , place the body inside , zip it closed , put it in the freezer . More often than not , when the body freezes solid , it will pop the glue joints without damaging the body . Let it thaw , and then have at it !
As for crankiness , welcome to the modeling world ! Lmao ! Check out our Patreon channel , $4 a week for a new video each week . We also have how to DVDs on airbrushing , tips and tricks , and achieving an outstanding paint finish .

I know that you use Novus polish (pronounced no - vus as in Nova) No = long o sound - not an ah sound as in novice. This is plastic polish. I use wet sanding papers to polish my plastic. I have foam sanding pads. I polish all the way up to 12000 grit to remove scratches. I glue with 3-M glue around my window frames. No hazy white crazing from superglue or fingerprints or mess. I use a tiny brush to apply my glue with. Spray your adhesive onto aluminum foil then run your brush through it and apply it to the window frame. Then you can apply your windows against it. The glue comes off with mineral spirits and no damage done!
