    I’m still impressed my bafang 750w mid drive is still running flawless after 5 years without any maintenance. I also have a whyte e160 running bosh 250 watt to get exercise. I use the bafang more in summer to cruise around. I would love the defang frame with 1000w bafang at some point when funds allow it. Electric bikes are the best invention of today. since then ive bought several more inc a commencal supreme downhill bike with bbshd marzochi 888 suspension and titanium shock on rear for 250 .

      @MickyBee73 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@jaykavcher7472 I'll bet it is, I wish (really do!!) I had the Dosh to build one, I've often wondered if I could eventually save up (hardly likely as I'm useless) 🤣 and maybe stick a 72v on mine with a bigger controller - although it would probably melt my 1500w Voilamart motor, unless I put heat-sinks and used that (is it?) ferro fluid stuff you put in the hub to draw out heat? But I guess I'd most likely have to up the wattage of the hub - I got a bleeding Sabvoton 7245m controller, bought a Bluetooth device and loaded the app to my phone but when I put it on my kit I couldn't get the app to work and when I turned the throttle the darn chain turned as it was locking the freewheel cassette, which really pissed me off as the controller was £180 and the Bluetooth dongle was £40 - waste of money it seemed...but damn it, it seemed a lot more powerful..
      But the shunted 35a controller is actually quite fun really, I guess I'm doing ok for 1500w really 👍

    Not bad , I wanted to buld an e-bike but a gas 2-cycle engine kit was CAD $160 for everything, so I went that route.
    also at the time of purchase, a lot of bikes were catching on fire while riding or charging.
    What I wasn't expecting was that the cost of gas and oil is catching me up to e-bike prices in the long run.
    E-bikes can ride pretty much anywhere but the gas bike has a lot of restrictions.

    Im trying to convert a jesse jame west coast bicycle. I have an idpoo z8 which is great...but it is heavy and so am i (116 kgs), if i dont peddle up a severe hill it cuts the throttle off to avoid shorting out.
    My worry is, the jesse james is built like a bmx so peddling up a hill to assist isn't really an option. My Idpoo z8 has a 500w, will a 1000w be suitable for hill climbs with throttle only ?

    This is cool to see but at 500 dollars I don’t know it would be worth it.
    Very quick!! It’s lighter than most e-bike frames, just for pure performance its value may be there.
    Another thing to consider in the states entry level e-bikes at Walmart are going for around 400$ and e-bikes on Amazon are around 450-500$ that’s for entry level smaller motors.
    Main concern I would have with this build is stopping power of brakes, and weather resistance.
    I enjoyed video 👍, good job. 😊
    I would include maybe the watt hour of build as this is one of the most important things pertaining to enike specs.

  • @MarvinWestmaas
    @MarvinWestmaas 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    There is no way I would build that for the simple reason I wouldn't want a fully rigid bike going 30mph+ with bad possibly a bad road deck or conditions, and v-brakes. I think the built is excellent, but for double the amount you spend on the bike you should be able to get a 'real' bike with some budget hydraulic brakes ( Zoom or Tektro or something ), a Suntour coil fork and a frame built to a standard it can cope with some impacts reliably.
    Cyclesuk has an Orbea Onna 50 for ~500 quid, wouldn't be my first choice but UK prices seem to be quite harsh and amazoncouk's selection was meager to say the least ( or was that because it only showed shipping to continental Europe not sure ).
    Even for a budget build, I would put a large part of the budget towards the things I rely on for safety; frame, suspension, brakes, tires. I know it's a big gap from 150 to 500, but you can always go for a proper second hand bike with some hours on it but with decent reliable components. Saving on a budget motor, battery and controller within reason as I don't want another 'to cheap to be true 48v 20Ah battery from Ali like I got once before, makes a lot more sense.
    I would probably have looked into using that battery bag anyway, even if you ziptied and duct taped it onto the frame with bag and all. Just because I think it will add some more weather protection ( against moisture ingress, I don't know how well your ducttape job is ). Maybe throw in some of those crystal moisture eaters bags you often get for free with random items you buy , especially if you don't plan on taking it off anytime soon it probably does add some more protection by absorbing moisture which leaks into the battery 'encasement',
    Ow I know btw that even those packs should have weatherproofing with foil layers, I just never trust them. Better safe then sorry, maybe I'm getting old.
    It's an excellent bike / build for the absolute minimum, and if you ever get stopped by the coppers you can always say you had really no idea you were going anything over 15... you never know
    Now for this pricepoint, I do wonder if the price difference between a '1000W' kit and a 500W kit from a 'known brand' would compare. I have zero trust in Ali wattage ratings, unless known product and known seller with good reputation. I mean if you go absolute budget for the bike, how would it do with a real budget motor ( but still not a Karen approved one ).

    • @MarvinWestmaas
      @MarvinWestmaas 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think that Orbea I mentioned above would be considered a really good base for a 'higher budget / mid level build', depending what you pair it with. The frame has mounting options and the triangle doesn't look to restrictive, comes standard with a 1x drivetrain, budget Suntour 100mm coil fork with lockout, budget Shimano mt200 hydraulic brakes and decent kenda tires.
      More budget -> cheap rear hub drive, can't go wrong.
      More 'interesting' -> mid level mid drive, preferably with ( additional ) torque sensor
      Also more interesting -> moar powah rear hub and as much battery and controller you can cram in the triangle ( + maybe controller behind the seat stay or under the downtube for more airflow ).
      Also maybe even interesting due to personal preference-> Orbea with BBSHD fully decked 52v battery capable of delivering the 30A the controller can be set to. Preferably with a 15s pack undercharged each cell to 4.1 so 61.5v. That's 0.5V below the controller's 62v HVC, and will give you a much more stable voltage curve through your ride compared with a 14s charged to max capacity. That's a little over 30x60~1800W with a fully topped battery. I would probably upgrade those mt200's at that point though, they are fine for me but I've only got 750w.

    Dude I’d love to see you do a bafang mid drive build . I know it’s probably complicated as fu** but I’m planning it soon and watched al your videos before i build the 2kw Specialized rockhopper lol ITS AMAZING ! , I’m now looking into the 750watt bbs02 for about £300 and a yose power battery 48v 13ah seen them for under 200 .. pretty cheap compared to couple years ago
