What do you think of the Swytch kit? Is it a way to save some old bikes from the junkyard? Shop.EbikeEscape.com If you are looking for some high quality ebike accessories, check out our store.
I have 2 of the older Swytchbike kits. After 3 years, both batteries have stopped working. Just purchased 2 Aventons. Much, much better. Aventons came fast and each with 2 high capacity batteries. Well made bikes.
I have 2 Swytch kits, and I’m waiting to receive the 3rd. It’s worth the money, but be prepared for long delays and potential installation issues. My 2022 Max kit took 9 months, and I had to file down the front axle to get it to fit in the dropouts, more of a nuisance, not difficult to do. My 2023 Max kit took 3.5 months, and again I had to file the front axle down to size. My 2024 Go++ has taken 2 months so far and is estimated to arrive next month, a 2-month delay, and I expect pedal-sensor arm installation issues because my bike does not have square-taper cranks (i.e., the crank arm fits flush against the bottom bracket). Others have been much luckier, and Swytch customer service typically responds in 24 hours and have been helpful. Despite all this, I would do it again!
I have the max and go++ kits and I like them very much but everything said in the comments about delivery times and customer service is true. They need to get it together in that regard.
I am going to be ordering from Swytch since I'm converting my 1976 Raliegh Sprite which my dad bought me brand new. Out of 10 companies I contacted they were the only ones who could handle the old British wheel sizing. Due to age and disability weight gain the hills have made riding my smooth as a Cadillac a no-go, power assist is now needed. So before you Dismiss the product, remember it just might be right for someone else. I only hope it lives up to the marketing, and battery life.
@EbikeEscape1 I did notice in your installation one error. Don't toss your old rim, if you need to send back the hub for warranty reasons you're going to want to put the old rim back on while waiting, unless you have lots of room in the garage.
Swytch bike have not respected their commitment to increase the speed of their Kit for Canada as they say on their site and as they told me. Very disappointing, I hope they will correct the speed limit.
Yes, I have the Go kit with both controller and throttle. Can use either. I have drop handlebar bike so it’s hard to find a good position for the throttle. Had Switch for five years on my old favorite 2013 Trek and at 70 it’s fun a big help to keep going.
So it was definitely loose without the retention pin. When I put that in it was much better. I wish there was a better solution for the pedal assist but it does work. Of course taking into consideration they have to make it compatible with different bikes that were never intended to be electric.
The problem with Swytch bikes is the time it takes between payment and delivery. I've been waiting 4 months for mine to arrive. At first I received no information, then I was referred to a page that purported to give delivery date but the date given was missed twice. Emails were either not replied to, or bland meaningless generic comments were all I got. At the moment I don't know if I have just fallen for another scam, or whether I am dealing with a truly inefficient company. Don't be tempted unless you have patience.
SWYTCH SCAM ALERT. I ordered the Swytch kit. It came in months later but at the estimated time. It DID NOT fit my bike. The tire fit but the axel did not fit my fork. Customer service barely replies. I asked multiple times if I could buy a wheel motor with a wider axel. No response. I was allowed to send it back for a refund. I sent it back. A week later they tell me they are only giving a partial refund. No refund for $50 shipping and no refund for the $78 tax. That's $128 out of my pocket. No response from Swytch. I am now trying to make a dispute with my bank. AVOID THIS PRODUCT. This seller does not try to help you with fitting the product. They do not reply. If it does not fit your bike you are out $128.
He had a bunch of issues installing certain things and there was a lot of forwarding through it and edits so we didn't see everything. Did you ignore that?
Bros just diy. It will cost the same but u get better motor. And u don't have to wait until the coming of Christ for them to just send you the kit with a missing piece you'll wait another month to remedy
This has to be the lamest review you've ever done. No it's not a hopeless waste of time BUT you can get a real ebike for very little more. And then you don't have to put up with a scam company with poor quality and service.
I think it was a good review. For newbies looking for their first ebike it's good to know just why the ebikes we like and are willing to spend good money on, might be worth it to them to do the same. Watch this video and a video of almost any ebike , and the reason why to spend more money on an ebike will be clear.
@@EbikeEscape maybe not a bike with the switch kit right from the start, so he or she isnt tempted. Or maybe if that person signs up for a spin class and completes it. I could see graduating to one once some pounds are pedaled off.

Definitely do a followup
Yes on a follow-up. I've heard negative response(s) about problems with the kit.
Yes…a follow-up would be great!!

Nishiki was my first mountain bike and still rides good since 1990 🎈
Ha nice! I had no idea they were that old of a brand.
@@EbikeEscape I’m old(er) 47 🎈🌈👻

When using the throttle, is the power level adjusted/modulated depending on how much you apply the throttle, or is it simply an on/off control?
@7:20 , Yup ,blow a stop sign to keep others safe and lovin cyclists...............
where can i buy that Tire pump u were holding. looks small. convenient. and has a screen. i want that. Where do i buy one.
Donde encuentro las instrucciones en español
Been waiting 3 months for my paid order to arrive.
Which kit? Was that the estimate originally given? I appreciate you sharing your experience.
Yes do an update, it is rumored that a rear wheel hub motor is in the works for SWYCH BIKE. Please reply 🙏 if that is so.
Not that I know of, but we'll see!
You said at the end that some other kits may offer more power I have an urban express road bike do you reccomend a kit from amazon?
Not an expert here but you might check out Eunorau - I believe they have a partnership with Bafang.
Thanks for doing this! Can you do the Clip next?
Possibly. We tend to avoid these kit reviews but I'm open to it

Great review
It's not worth it at all. Overpriced, bad customer service, breaks easily. Just buy a Lectric or an Aventon.
Can this be a throttle only activated bike?
Yes, I have the Go kit with both controller and throttle. Can use either. I have drop handlebar bike so it’s hard to find a good position for the throttle. Had Switch for five years on my old favorite 2013 Trek and at 70 it’s fun a big help to keep going.

What a scandal! 😢
Why did you rate the installation at 5/10? Seemed pretty easy and straightforward, how does 5/10 reflect that?
Not too easy that anyone can do it, not too difficult that it takes someone who has done it before. Right in the middle

Stop sign though.
how much is the kit?
Watch the video, dude!
The price is in the bloody video!!!!
Where were you???!!!😂😂😂
Its cool for the price.

Great video! I enjoyed it. I'm Senquan, CEO of 100G Smart Tech, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing our Geeko e-bike kit?

I think full DIY takes a bit extra attention. This kit fits a middle ground - at least in my opinion

Switch Kit: Now you can begin your road to obesity!
**brought to you by Burger King: Have it your way!**
What about getting someone that is obese to begin riding a bike?

Do not order anything from Swytch. Their customer service is a nightmare. I cancelled my order after around 10 month of waiting.
Jesus is coming soon be ready time is running out ❤❤❤❤
