    Can you leave your rods rigged and store in the Sage Ballistic 10' 2 piece case? Like one would do in the Riversmith Shortcut case?

    prefer storing my rods in a some sort of hard-cased luggage. First nobody handling the luggage can see there are rods in it. With these rod carriers a fly fishing smart ass can see there could be valuable rods inside and do something you might regret

    I use rod tubes for travel but for ultralight backpacking I use light bulb tubes from Home Depot. To add rigidity, I wrap the tubes in tape/vinyl. It’s riskier I know but the typical rod tubes are two dang heavy for backpacking many miles.

      I've found those same clear tubes work great. Strapped along the side of the pack, using the rod sock in the tube, and stuffing the bottom of the tube into a pack's side bottom pocket, there's plenty of rigidity. And an 8 foot 3/4wt 4-pc rod does not protrude very high above the pack.
      The Patagonia rod roll looks really nice, i wonder how much they weigh. If they offered a more minimal 2-rod roll, that could work as well for carrying while backpacking. Maybe i'll just slap a Patagonia sticker on a cheap clear tube next time. 😂

      @@epzamora rod socks is a great idea with these tubes. I’m in the craft vinyl business, I might make Patagonia stickers for my tubes, people will think I’m rich!

    I have the orvis safe passage- I love the hell out of it. Carried it onto planes, I've thrown it in my car, and I keep it loaded with gear for the go. Its totally worth the money, if you're willing to spend $200. I'd buy it again 10x

      +1 for the Orvis Safe Passage. I also think it's slightly larger than the Sage case, so I can fit 10' rod tubes inside if I want to bring the tubes as well.

      I have the same case and I love it. I travel with it all the time. Carries my rods, reels, fly cases, and all my gear less my boots and waders. Fits it the overhead as a carry-on or you can check it . Pick it up and go.

    Do you still have any of the orvis keep all bags in stock in the old school camo print?

    I have only been fly fishing two years and already have four rods and reels. It can become addicting.

    Sage also has a great case that keeps all my rods and reels secure and safe. That Orvis one looks great as well 🤙

    Does anyone know of either the Simms or orvis travel case fit 10ft rods?

    • @E-M-C
      @E-M-C 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can fit 10' rod tubes in the Orvis Carry-It-All bag, but the equivalent Sage case can only fit the a 10' rod if it's in its sock w/o a tube.

      The Orvis case comes in two sizes. The large size will fit a11’ 4 piece rod (without tube).

      Orvis Carry-It-All fits a rod tube up to 10', but anything longer will need another solution. The equivalent Sage case can fit a 10' rod in its sock, but no longer.

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of them will fit 10’ - 4 piece fly rods except the S/M Patagonia rod roll and the Sage Ballistic rod case.

      @@FlyFishFood well seems like there is a market for 11’ rod cases! You all should make them!
