    Very good how-to video. I will give you an A on your video. You didn't overdo the situation and all of the learning points were explained very well. Some guys like to just ramble on and on about things that are so simple. You were to the point and never rambled. I'm sure your video will be helping out a lot of people out there in YOU TUBE land. GOOD JOB!

    If you leave the belt on it. The tension helps breaking the water pump pulley bolts if you do not have impact/compressor tools

    I have what appears to be vacuum lines, blocking my pump from coming out. They literally go across in front of the pump and are so tight to the pump. The pump will not come off the posts. Any suggestions? Obviously, just remove the vacuum lines, but, trying to do this without taking apart too much

    You don't need to remove the power steering pulley. Just remove the alternator/power steering pump together with the whole bracket and move forward, only five bolts.

    I have a 1996 mustang I changed the water pump out and put it back together but the top where the heater pipe thing goes still leaking does it have 2 orings on it or just one ? Please help need to fix asap to drive

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would use a new o ring There is supposed to be just one. I don't think it would hurt to put a second one on the heater pipe. Good luck with it. The second one would have to be skinnier rubber because the first one has a notch in the pipe made for it. make sure the heater pipe is going straight into the hole. If it is at even a small angle coolant will get by.

    Do I have to put silicon or just the gasket in the new water pump? Because I replaced it and it keeps leaking. More than before.

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blue silicone sealant will help. Make sure the surface of the block is totally clean or it will tend to leak. Best of luck with it Eduardo.

    So my pipe is stuck on my water pump. I'm at a loss here. How hard can I "tap" this thing without breaking it? None of the auto part stores near me have one that I can just replace if I break it. Any advice? Thanks so much!

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be hard to remove. try to totally remove the water pump and twist it back and forth ( gently) that pipe is called a heater pipe and costs like 90$ so even when you are getting frustrated try to be patient. There is no magic trick to it so you just kind of have to play with it until it lets go. you can try to pry it up by putting a flat head screwdriver under the bracket that bolts it down. Best of luck with it. that can be very difficult.

  • @loganhudson9720

    Will this work for a 1997? Does the 97 v6 have the bracket from the power steering?

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be similar. If the bracket is in front of your water pump then you will have to remove it to remove your water pump.That is a previous generation Mustang , but I beleive the 3.8 is exactly the same. Best of luck with it.

  • @ufartface
    @ufartface 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    nice diy could you just drill a hole in the power steering pulley to access bracket mounting bolts?

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny you should ask. I really wanted to try that. The plastic the pulley it is made of is more of a composite material and I was concerned it would splinter on me. I also wasn't sure if the unbalance it would create would be a problem or not. I am guessing probably not. If you try this I wold love to know how it all worked out. Anyway. Best of luck with it.

      Yeah. They can be very stubborn. You can remove the water pump and give it a little twisting action back and forth. Try not to break that heater pipe it is expensive and it is a pain to replace. Best of luck with it.

      Julian Pando tbh, like I said in my last comment, I was lucky that I had an extra one. I would probably suggest going to a car junkyard. Whoever was the previous owner of my car for some reason had the “hose pipe” crooked. My brother has the same mustang and his came off easy since it was straight. Sorry if I couldn’t help much

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a part that can be very stubborn. Nova that is your heater pipe and it costs like $69 so try not to break it. I would use a little penetrating oil first to try to get it loose. You may have to get the water pump loose and try to twist or slightly change the angle when trying to get it to release, It is just pushed in with an o-ring sealing the pipe. A propane torch may help,but I usually get it lose before that. Best of luck with it.

  • @cottonm4cottonm488

    Before you can remove the water pump you have to remove the power steering pump bracket. There are 4 bolts and with the bolts removed the bracket does not want to move. So, I'm stuck. No youtube video talks about removing the power steering pump and the bracket. That's what I a looking for.

    I love these videos.....but I type in 1994......and I get ZIP.......No videos for that.....I know why.....its a ford pos year and car.....Trying to help a friend.....looks easy enough.....my mistake......FRICKEN EVERYTHING was connected to the wp. All brackets, P steering, Alt....its a frickin nightmare. There is a vacuum hose you have to get outta the way......but its brackets are connected to the exhaust bolts....NO SHIT.....I worked my way around that by removing the coil mount....another clusterf*ck.........All this is the worst design Ive ever seen.....I think the rear right wheel is connected to the WP in someway.......gimmie and old chevy or ford (even a ranger or s10) pick up truck any day.....they are killing us backyard mechanics.
