    Just used your tutorial to replace mine. This was easy to follow and you covered key points that if unmentioned would have made this an aggravating process. Thanks for taking the time to make the video!

    This is exactly the video I needed. You didn't skip steps assuming I would just *know* little details. You showed the whole process and provided little tips that I know will make my life easier in a few minutes when I start this project, lol.

    Your video got me through my water pump install perfectly, so props to you and thank you👊 but... Turns out it was my thermostat housing all along that caused my leak. Hint of advice to everyone watching this video... If u have a leak be sure to check the thermostat housing. Those things are built so cheap it's insane.

      My 05 gt is leaking after around 15 minutes of idling but the car isn’t overheating when leaking so my plan is to replace the thermostat and water pump but I will definitely check the thermostat housing beforehand thanks for the tip!

    Thanks! Today July 12 2021 I replaced the water pump, the 8 mm tool was a great idea for the one between the Tube line !

      Sunil Gurung i doubt that you fixed it, you most likely replaced it, what you've fixed is the leak 👌

    Awesome. The bearing in mine is about to go out so I'll be tackling this Monday when the stores re-open. Another thing, the serpentine belt diagram is found on the underside of the hood on the cars.

    Those thermostat housings are cheap!! I went through 3 within a couple years. Found a guy on eBay who fabricates then in aluminum and bought one for like 160.00.. haven't had to replace it since..

    how many gallons of coolant (premixed) do I need to fill it back up ? I am going to change water pump and a couple pulleys and an all aluminum thermostat housing all at once on my 05 plus a couple hoses and new belt.

  • @Pinhead_larry265
    @Pinhead_larry265 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very good presentation. However I would like to correct some items, the diagram of the belt pully can be found in your owners manual. Also the V6 s197 mustang does not have an aluminum head, the material is Cast Iron.

    • @pixelpusher8986
      @pixelpusher8986 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you meant the block is cast iron... the heads are aluminum.

    Did the whole job with needle nose pliers for the clamps, got all the way done and found one bolt that never made it back into the new water pump….

  • @alektad
    @alektad 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the first thing I did is I trashed those clamps and installed a threaded ones with the screw, like the ones on the air intake. They are called house clamps for a reason

    Yikes. RTV and a gasket... Number one red flag. Number two red flag was adding the AF and putting the cap straight on and starting... You should always leave the cap off and turn your heat on full blast to cycle it and get some extra air out before putting the cap on, and checking it after about 20 miles of driving.

    During the distillation process, water is vaporized into its gaseous phase, so all its impurities are left behind. ... As it chemically removes electrons from the metals of cooling system components, distilled water eventually does extreme damage that could lead to cooling system failure.

    Nice video. I'm doing my water pump this weekend. Also have you considered switching to a aluminum thermostat housing? I just changed mine out from the cheap plastic. That's where I thought it was leaking last weekend but then it kept leaking and looked at the water pump. Mine also has about 150k on it. Seems like it goes out right at that mark!

    How can I now if my water pump is not working? My mustang get overheated, i change thermostat, coolant is good , no leaking , fan is working , i check the head gasket and it's good ! Do you think that's the water pump ?

  • @jeremyv4636
    @jeremyv4636 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    One more note I had to add-my daughter made a good point: “Daddy, they should let the hose company make water pumps instead-the rubber hoses outlasted the metal pump..”. What can I say-she kinda has a point...

    I replaced the water pump and the thermo housing and it still leaks. I've done the water pump x3 times already and I can't get a seal. One of my original 8mm screws broke while I was tighten it (always kept in mind your advice on not going too tight) replaced 3 with new bolts and still leaks. Any ideas from anyone ? I so regret doing this myself I should have just taking it to a shop. My mustang has been sitting in the garage for 6 months due to this and I'm ready to call a tow and pay the consequences.
