Yeah... I shudder to imagine how chaotic Rome is in summer! This video was filmed over Christmas which is considered low season, and even then the crowd was crazy.
I think for many, one visit to Rome will suffice. However, a return trip or two or three more to Italy is very common because there is so much more beauty and incredible experiences awaiting such as the Amalfi Coast, the Lake Como district, the Italian Alps, Florence, and Milan to name a few.
Indeed... Popular tourist cities like this one would be crazy in summer. That being said, I'm heading back to Europe in June. Hopefully it won't be crazy.
I love watching your videos. What type of camera do you use to film your videos? What software app do you use to edit your TH-cam videos and is it free to use? Do you use your phone or laptop to do your video editing? Whilst you film your videos, do you use tripod or selfie stick - what brand is it? I am still learning on how to film and edit my travel videos. Any advice would be very helpful😊
Hi mate, thanks for tuning in. I've been using a GoPro hero 8 for a couple of years now and I edit my videos using Filmora Wonder share, which is a paid service. The GoPro comes with a tripod and that's what I use, plus a Xiaomi Note 9s for other close up video footage. I also travel with a DJI Mini SE drone and I fly it where legally possible during my travels, and you'll see snippets of it in this series. I'm in the process of looking at something outside the GoPro for dark shots because while the camera is great in daytime, it struggles in low light.
It is years since I have been to Rome. I found it quite intimidating, but I would go back to see more historic sights, particularly the Ara Pacis. Though having said that, I doubt i would ever linger in Rome. I vastly prefer Florence and Venice. Thank you for the video!
Pick pockets everywhere.... beware! Many varied people do it not just those mentioned in this video. Just be cautious at all times and don't carry anything in your back pockets. Pick pocketing can not only occur in crowded tourist places but also on the local trains, Ryan So Fly:-
Ryan, when I was younger the first thing I pre-read (in order) was the scams, where the locals eat, public transport and public toilets.... all true. I was able to avoid the taxi and lost wallet cons in Rome and later the Russian 'Natashas' in Athens. I say YES to your comment "Been there, done that, tick the box and move on" too crowded.
Yes, the bloody scams. Many warned me before we made that trip. So when I arrived, my guard was already up at the airport making sure NOTHING was anywhere near my back pocket. I really hated this feeling, add on a layer of jet lag... It was exhausting. I was relieved to be back at the hotel, to be honest. Hahahaha...
We were warned by our hotel staff to be careful when visiting the Vatican of gypsies who would circle you in a group (without you knowing)to pick pocket
The seedy scammer reputation of Rome precedes itself. So I was on guard the entire time and sadly there was no escaping the crowd, mostly. Especially on the older narrow cobblestone streets, you can see why so many get their pockets picked because it is so easy to lose your situational awareness.
I didnt realize why Italians in Australia liked concrete backyards until I went to Rome; it was 36 degrees when we were there too (bloody hot), We ask for a ham and pineapple pizza in Florence and we got 1 pizza with pineapple rings and 1 pizza with ham slices. Close enough! Historically Rome is great but we saw beggars everywhere,
Hahahahaha... so you had 2 pizzas. I really cannot imagine visiting Italy in summer, really. If this is low season, I dare not imagine what it would be like with the crowds and heat. Yeah once you've conquered the sights, Rome was rather depressing with the grafitti, cigarette butts and homeless refugees sleeping rough at every other street. Don't even get me started on the smell of pee here and there... LOL.
Thanks for that tit bit. And I just found out that Piazza Navona is one of the few places in Italy heavily connected to the tradition of Befana! Cool! 😎
Friendly to Chinese, I can understand why because they spend $$$ like there's no tomorrow. I'm generalising here, but they've been known to dislike Americans because they walk up to restaurants and ask for shit like fettuccine Alfredo or pineapple with their pizzas. 🤣
Funny You mentioned the Africans. The same thing has happened to me on my Travels but from Tibetan Monks or at least they dress like them & they also ask for money. Your slide remark is ignorant & disrespectful to a whole Continent. As a content creator . Do better!

Your Italian made me think you lived there for years! Thanks for your honest thoughts. We are going to Rome in October 2024. Grazie!
Haha thanks for your kind words... Enjoy your trip to Rome!
Great video but I love Rome and will always go there!
Rome is great for some parts. I am pretty sure there is another side of that city waiting to charm me besides these touristy sights. Until then...
I was just there a month ago. There was nothing about Rome that I liked, but we did get to see the pope! Same sentiment, been there, done that!
Yeah... I shudder to imagine how chaotic Rome is in summer! This video was filmed over Christmas which is considered low season, and even then the crowd was crazy.
💯% agree about Rome, 2 days was more than enough for me. Florence on the other hand was wonderful and I'd return in a heartbeat.
The birthplace of the Renaissance, who would not want to get lost in that?! 😂

You are very right. I'd return to Italy, just not to Rome.
Cannoli is my fav pastry. Anything with custard also my favourite thing to buy. Goes so well with coffee
Yeah, I ended up having cannolis in Venice. YUM! No coissant to distract me.
Yes you were so wise to visit out of season. You can imagine Rome in July and August with the crowds and the heat.
Indeed... Popular tourist cities like this one would be crazy in summer. That being said, I'm heading back to Europe in June. Hopefully it won't be crazy.
Looking forward to the next instalment. Thanks for this informative video.

Yes I went to Venice after this and I much prefer that. I won't be returning to Rome any time soon.
My conclusion on Rome was exactly the same.... been there done that !
Exactly right ... I'd probably not go back to Rome if I did not have to.

I was so wary during my entire stay there. Not a great feeling to have. Everything was in my front pocket.

Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
That video make me hungry, shame about the scammers.

Ryan ... did you throw 3 coins into the Trevi Fountain and make a wish?
Sadly they have blocked off the first 2 sections around the fountain. So we could only admire it from afar, not close enough to toss anything in.

You sounded very prejudice when you said “ the African “… there was no need for that .. just because of that I was turned off ..so sad.
Sorry you feel that way. Not sure how else was I supposed to do it.
Well, that's the *TRUTH* !! "the Africans" indeed, how do you want him to Sayy....??!
