I'm planning on going to Italy next year for the first time. It's been on my bucket list for a long long time. This video has been extremely helpful. To be honest, the best I've seen. Thank you for it.
Very good video with very good tips…because you reiterated everything that’s been said on the dozens of other videos I’ve watched this past month. Not sure what search you put in that found inaccurate videos on Rome. 😛 Seriously, I’ve watched dozens, and they all say these exact things (except about the toilets, most skip that topic).
🙏🙏🙏🇮🇹Love it❤️ Thanks so interesting tips !🤩 🙏 I just wants to fallow all tips soon. : First go-to bed and plans next day 🙏 the restaurant : hotel 🇮🇹. Thanks ! grazie I 🇮🇹
How can I get detailed info I need to plan my trip activities? Such as, since I can’t walk far with my walker, can a taxi take me to or near the entrance to the Vatican museum/church? Thanks for your info...
Bit late but hope this helps- Rome is not great for mobility challenged. But it is possible. Taxis work. They are legally limited on charges. Do NOT get into a taxi not marked as one. Don’t get into one without confirmation of your cost to your destination. A few blocks from the Pantheon and Piazza Navonna is a marked taxi stand you might find helpful at Larho Argentina (where Caesar was assasinated and a cat sanctuary) as well as outside any train station. They are harder to find in random spots. Try an Uber app. They will operate just like in the US. Metro works well for major sites, not so well for less well known. Go in autumn or spring if possible. It’s more comfortable, far less crowded and expensive and more generally enjoyable. It might be worth looking into a guided walking tour specializing in slower walkers. You see 75% of the things most tourists want to in half a day. Then you can slowly enjoy Rome as it was meant to be enjoyed. You will find the Coliseum and Forum challenging. Lots of steps or rough ground. It might be worth enjoying from outside which frankly is pleasant too, especially at night. Rent a place from Rentalinrome, Airbnb or VRBO. Book as early as possible for the best choices and prices. It will be far nicer, will have far more room and cost half what a nice hotel will. Just check for a lift or ground floor.
Please Be very very careful! Legit scamers are in Rome and they pay Police under the table to look the other way. Me and my group including others who didn't travel with us to Rome were robbed and pick pocketed by Tour guides, taxi drivers, and even security guards in Rome!!! We saw the whole thing and got photos. We reported it to 3 police stations and they all told us to get lost. I also noticed a extremely long line in every police stations, sad. Avoiding Street scamers and thieves is the easy part, but avoiding Officials who are criminals is nearly impossible and Rome knows it! I found a news article about officials who happened to be scamers who prey on tourist. I'm a avid traveler and I've never experienced anything like Rome, and I've been to South America and Africa several times. Rome has graffiti Everywhere and the people there are not too kind niether. Rome has some nice places and im pretty sure rome was great back in the day but PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN ROME!
I didn’t have a hard time finding small restaurants. Especially when I was just walking around. I didn’t drive except when we rented vespas which I’ll never do again because I don’t want to drive. Also booking tours like you said is a very smart thing to do. It’s important to have an open schedule for a few days but it’s the best to get a tour. I did and did not regret it.
No offense but I feel even the worst pizza in italy is still a lot better than a “good” pizza in the us. My experience with Europe in general is you can’t go wrong with the food.
I’m going to politely disagree with what seems a very broad generalization. But. In general I find restaurants in Italy and France and much of Germany more pleasant, with better food and less expensive than in America. Significantly. The UK and Czech Republic are places it’s a good idea to try international or ethic cuisine because my God they cook bland food. I would say I’m picky about where I eat since 3 weeks is all I have each year to travel. So, small with limited menu items preferably written on a blackboard rather than plastic/paper menu are good signs. The clientele speaking the local language is another. Contrary to received wisdom it’s possible to eat well near major sites, but only by walking a few blocks and using those criteria.

I’ve visited Rome a dozen times. Yes, there have always been street scammers and pickpockets. As nearly anywhere in Europe. Yes it’s an old, busy and above all lived in city. There is litter, graffiti and noise. Traffic is simply chaotic. In those trips so have never been robbed. I have never expected Rome to be one of those frighteningly clean Swiss villages. It’s a large urban center. The closest Americans will understand is New York City. If you don’t like New York, probably choose a German or Alsatian destination for your Euro vacation.
Ulous comment. Like every packed city in the world, you need to be careful. I have a house outside of Rome, visit the city I can’t remember how often, but NEVER had any problems. How come?
After trashing the other videos she watched preparing for her trip she goes on to give virtually the same tips with few exceptions. Unable to locate non tourist trap restaurants in busy areas she concludes they don't exist (Try re-watching those other videos. Most give specific suggestions. Otherwise there's Yelp). Good to know North American English is spoken most places.....WTF? Don't try to plan anything your first 2 days in Rome...........really? Good luck seeing the Vatican or Colleseum etc. Oh, and don't worry about the pickpockets and scammers.......she didn't see any!
Wow. This is such a rude comment. She is pretty humble. She is giving HER perspective. She doesn't claim to be an expert on Rome. You need to be less judgmental about things.
He is 100% right truth hurts doesnt matter if shes humble no ones saying shes cocky she is just superficial in her advice and moronic with her yankee perspective ignorant would also be fitting word Her pronunciation of trastevere is a crime against humanity Most americans pronounce it that way And they never bother that every roman around them has a COMPLETELY different melody and pronunciation This is not a trip to disneyworld or a cheesy trip to paris Do a bit of homework and preparation before coming to the most historically important city in the world 😮 never mind 😢😅😊 Welcome to rome
Americans dont realize, that A/C is just not common standard in western Europe. We have about 2 months between 25 - 30 degrees, so there is simply no need for A/C. If it is really hot we close the window blinds during daytime and open the windows during the night. Overall: just adapt to local standards
@@joophansen7845 yeah, it is called the "ferragosto". Italians are often on holidays during the last 3 weeks of august. And in smaller towns shops are also closed on thursday afternoon. Also most of the museums, churches etc pp are closed between noon and 3/4 pm. Always inform you on their website.
Ferragosto is a catholic holiday, celebrated august 15. Everything is closed, except restaurants. And during the month of august many shops, restaurants, musea also closed “ per ferie”, that means they are on holiday.

I went in December. Great weather.
I highly highly highly recommend this video
Stayed at same hotel. Great breakfast.
Nice tips!
i remember the extreme heat of Rome in mid summer . it was just way to hot .
Thanks for your video! That’s very useful information to know 😊
Wonderful video, thanks for sharing all the info so articulately. Certainly helpful.

How is the weather in mid June?
Go early or late... After 4pm much less crowds late the cruise ship people have left and it's cooler as we get later
Are there safety issues for those with obvious handicap issues, like a walker etc? Somewhere we should be cautious about?

Been to Italy in the summer and it’s too hot … next time I will go in the fall.
Where is the link for hotel? Thank you
Need to go to off beaten path , and other towns

I went to Rome in November. No crowds and no need for AC.
Thought u weren't supposed to tip other than US??
Don't tip. I am now harassed in Italy to leave a tip if they know you are American!

You would think that the museums would be need air to be air conditioned 😊😊
How you aren’t mis one day without doing anything. Just to aclámate. None sense if are on Vacation.😊😊

This is so bad. It's not called City Center, and you should learn to pronounce Trastevere if you purport to be knowledgable about Rome.
Wow. This is such a rude comment. She is pretty humble. She is giving HER perspective. She doesn't claim to be an expert on Rome. You need to be less judgmental about things.
The video is some of the worst advice I have ever seen. She clearly was a typical American tourist with no clue. Do not take any advice here.
