Showing your face can depend on your age! I have a tutorials channel where I don't often show my face on the video at all. I have experimented many times face and no face and every time when I have my face - views decrease. It can be that it shows that I'm in my late 50s and my viewers are quite evenly across age groups, with the biggest group being 25-34.
@Kakumei Ascott agreed....she's maybe recognizing (or isn't admitting) that she's damn cute, and that's definitely an element to why that works for her.

One more tip: Prevent the text from hitting video length overlay at the bottom right. I would suggest that the text should be visible at 80-90% from the center (i.e. avoiding the edges of the thumbnail).
I think she mentioned the text should be on right hand side. Its confusing check 8.25 part of the video again, however i agree with you it should be on the left
Showing your face whatever you look like is important in my opinion because people who like watching your videos recognises one of yours pop up immediately. That’s how I feel about people I watch 😍
Canva has a built in background remove too. The left hand side tip is such a good tip, I noticed that when the text is on the right I never click those video

ANOTHER BIG TIP THAT HAS HELPED ME: Don't use red, white, or black elements on a thumbnail as much as possible! This is due to the fact that it will blend into TH-cam, which mostly consists of these few colors!

I have a quick question: for someone who doesn't quite feel comfortable showing their face, would it still add a human element if I used my animated character who looks like me? I could draw myself showing those emotions and put it in the thumbnail. I've seen some other channels (like Jaiden Animations!) do that and it always inspires me to click, but I don't know if I'm biased because I do animations too(well, as of right now there are none involving me up on my channel but I plan to upload some very soon.) Sorry if this is confusing but could you please let me know?
Thanks for the advice! I use Canva too, how do you get the text to have a different colour outline? On 10:29 for example, you have white letters with black lining. I can only achieve such a look by putting in the text twice and giving one a different colour, but that creates a "shadow" and is not exactly what I want. I hope I'm clear, a little difficult to explain 😅
