This dropped at the perfect time for me. I literally had a mental breakdown a few hours ago. I tried to shoot a video (I've done that twice before but didn't post them because they're terrible) and failed miserably, it took me forever to remember how to work my camera, I made the most ridiculous mistakes with the audio and finally when I got the hang of things my camera was gonna die and I couldn't find the charger. I spent almost an hour looking for that charger, I got so exhausted and tried to film with a laptop or my phone but it just wasn't working out for me. I wish I knew your tips before. But that's all good cause I'm going to film tomorrow even if it's in the midst of an earthquake.

🙋🏿♀️ INFP here!! And I've had the opposite problem, of not wanting to share with people that I was putting together a TH-cam Channel. This is my challenge for 2020, as I help other INFPs establish the career and lives they can be happy in, I too am stepping out and working through my own resistance so I can serve others!! Vanessa! Thanks to your TH-cam advice my first video is currently at 1.9k views and my second video is at 5.2k views. My mind is blown! But the struggles that you talk about in this vid are ACCURATE. My first few videos took me 3-4 hours to film and sometimes 15+ hours to edit. Up until recently I was editing EVERYTHING on my iPhone. Now I edit on my laptop but I still film with my phone. So I KNOW what the beginner grind is like. Gear or no gear I hope I can make as big a difference in peoples lives with my channel as you have with yours!
As great as it is to try and be prepared as possible, it’s SOOO much more important to not get bogged down by all the little details, avoid the procrastination brought on by “analysis paralysis”, and just START! With hindsight, it’s so easy to look back at old videos (especially the first) and think, “If only I knew then what I know now, I’d’ve done things differently.” However, Vanessa, you’re a shining example of what is possible, but only because you chose to, as Think Media would say, “start messy!” And in doing so, are a huge inspiration to us!

I've been on TH-cam for a little bit now and it's absolutely hilarious listening to the things you went through and thinking "Yep! Same!". I personally believe that everyone has to go through these sort of trials and tribulations to find their way because each of our journeys here will be different. It humbles you and it makes for some great stomach aching, high note cackles later down the road. I am a medical student who is at the moment starting up my very first youtube channel! The channel is going to be about health, informative and motivational for people to take care of their own health! Tried to do my first video the other day, but noticed that my equipment wasn't good enough. As a student the budget is a bit tight. “How will you continue the legacy with my equipment?” The idea I have for my TH-cam videos is to interview small business owners in my area. Also, elderly ones who feel like they have not had a chance to share their life. I already have a list of locations, questions, and ideas. I completely agree on the part about how different it is to talk to a camera than to talk to a person or crowd. I have been a business owner for 7 years and have talked to news media, crowds, other business owners, state agencies etc... and thought that talking alone to a camera would be no different. I was wrong lol I messed up quite a bit and it was much harder to keep focused on what needed to be said, since there are no reactions or conversations taking place to react to or to be prompted by. My second video is in a much more laid back fashion and felt much more natural shooting in a vlog style. The most important thing and lesson I have learned as a business owner is just to start, learn to adapt and improve as you go. Great video!

I am literally the same when it comes to announcing things before I even have it done, but I've found that by doing this 1. shows me if people are actually interested in what I have planned. 2. Pushes me to get it done, by giving me a deadline.
How I'll continue legacy with youtube equipment? Been on YT almost 4 years. My sound quality isn’t the best, using a cheap mono lavalier mic and a ring light I bought for 50% off. Well obviously the first thing would be to actually pass on the equipment to another newbie who needs the stuff. But I thought it would also be great to add some more stuff to the mix, like lighting equipment, tripods etc. And the reason why is that I'm about to start a channel myself and in doing research, I realized that those things don't come cheap! Your experience totally mirrored mine with my first video! I just started last month, and it took me forever to film. My camera kept dying (first from the battery, and then from overheating). When it was time to edit, I realized just how much I was meandering and doing nothing. It drove me crazy and I tried to edit out as much as I could. I think I put over 12 hours into my first video. And it still wasn't that great! But I am slowly improving. I've started outlining a loose script to reduce my filler words, I'm becoming more comfortable speaking to the camera, and I'm learning my way around my editing software. I guess all I need now is better equipment! 😅 If I were to win a giveaway, I would take advantage of the equipment by shooting better reviews and how-tos for my planner channel. I love talking stationery, journals, and pens. Better footage means better information relayed to my viewers!

Ah, couldn't you release this video about a year ago, when I just started and made those first CRAPPY videos? 😅 NOW, I don't count on winning anything, but I actually DREAMED about having a Cannon camera for a couple of years now. The thing is, they're expensive, so I either shoot on my iPhone, or on a crappy nameless Pro camera that produces lame quality and dies after 30 minutes of recording (and that's SUPER annoying to say the least). So yes, if I'd have your marvelous equipment?.. I'd make better videos for my TH-cam channel (finally!!!). P.S. I live in the southern US so the lighting isn't AS much of an issue for my videos (my channel is Beyond Sustainable Living) as it is for you up there in Canada but I like that idea of starting as soon as possible in the morning. What an amazing idea! No matter the outcome you are going to change somebody’s life for the better 💕 I just stumbled upon your amazing channel and subscribed right away because you have amazing energy and get right down to it! Also because you’re in Vancouver! (Or at least you were in the video I watched!) I started my you tube channel a week ago today. i have 2 videos filmed from my phone uploaded. I would use the equipment to bring the quality of the content to a higher level, and 10x the professionalism of my videos. This would be a dream come true as I have set a goal of becoming monetized or making 100 videos before I put money into expensive equipment. Instead of thriving on your own and keeping these secrets to yourself, you share it -- literally. I believe in manifesting and my husband and I have so many ideas for this laptop lifestyle such as life coach, art coach and travel vlogs for here on Maui, HI and we will get there, but we just are hesitant to start. Life is so short, so much has happened so far this decade and we wanna quit our corporate lifestyle. One of our ideas is to show it is possible to travel with kids and especially a newborn. As we been told 'once you have a baby, you're stuck' its not true! Another is I always wanted to be a graphic designer so I wanna draw and share it or even be a consultant for that, if that's a thing. Another would be for my husband, he is a brilliant life coach and doesn't know it. He constantly gives advice to his co workers and friends about everything from relationship advice, parenting, sales, political events, cars, construction, fishing, hunting, astronomy...so much more and we wanna share it. Didnt wanna pour my heart out but I guess my spoonful turned into tipping the whole pot. So grateful to have found you!

I have always wanted to make cooking videos on TH-cam and share my recipes with people. To this day, I have only been able to upload only two Vlog style videos about my travels. I watch your videos to learn more about the platform and I really appreciate your honesty. Such a nice present! I've wanted to start my TH-cam channel for a loooong time and I did it in a way, but as I'm filming with my Iphone SE it turns out that it is not confortable and it takes me so much time to film with good quality. My first video is actually not that great! I have so many scripts written and ready to film to help my students in French get a better level and enabling them to have a touch of French weekly. With this equipment I would be able to film a lot faster and batch my content to be able to meet my deadlines and be consistent (shout out to your tips Vanessa). I didn’t realize how important it was to have the right gear when starting a TH-cam Channel. It doesn’t matter how good your content is if the video is hard to see and your voice is muffled then people are not going to watch. I learned this the hard way. I spent hours preparing but very little time or money investing in the right equipment. I plan to continue my mission with DreamWell Coaching company where I help Parents, children and teachers resolve emotional and behavioral problems. My current TH-cam Channel is pretty embarrassing I’ve had it for a year and let’s just say it’s a hot mess. I NEED that equipment! Please HELP!
Hi Vanessa! 😊 I've wanted to make videos for youtube for some time now but never had the courage... Last year I've filmed some makeup videos but didn't like the final result and thought that I wasn't as comfortable in front of the camera as I should be (in my head at least)... So I thought about starting with IGTV trying to get more comfortable in front of the camera and the feedback that I've been receiving has been more positive than I was expecting 😊 I've been watching your videos and they are really giving me more confidence to go forward! I will use the equipment to make videos about my lifestyle and the tips and tricks about makeup but also techy stuff. I know they say that's better to choose a niche, but I want my channel to be a reflection of me, and I really love all this 😃

Winning the gear would make a big difference for me :) I just started my channel "Be-novative" in 2018 on tips and methods to make the otherwise complex and chaotic innovation process easier and more successful for smaller startups and large enterprises as well. How I would continue your legacy is by actually starting my TH-cam channel. I've been wanting to venture out of my comfort zone and start a channel in hopes to get me into another career. Social media is a great way to help out a new business. Plus a great way to get to meet people that you would never meet on your own. My fingers are crossed that I am chosen.

Started my my business a year ago and attempted to ztart my youtube but couldn't do both. I made a few bad quality videos and didnt post. After finding all your videos it helped realize that what and how I needed to do it. Winning this giveaway will help to give me the push start I need to start.

Starting on TH-cam was my goal for 2020. HECK it was my goal for 2019 as well, but I didn't do it back then. But this year I put behind the fears and doubts and started anyway. Crap quality, little to no editing - but I'm showing up as I can for now, being fully booked but still looking to market my services and grow my following, so that when I'm ready to launch my offerings, I have a dedicated audience. Now, my focus is currently on IG, but I'd be lying if I said I don't feel like my gear still holds me a bit back on filming YT content. I feel like you can "get away" a bit more easily with macbook/iphone quality on IG xD Again, not an excuse not to show up, but a nice-to-have! 😉

This dropped at the perfect time for me. I literally had a mental breakdown a few hours ago. I tried to shoot a video (I've done that twice before but didn't post them because they're terrible) and failed miserably, it took me forever to remember how to work my camera, I made the most ridiculous mistakes with the audio and finally when I got the hang of things my camera was gonna die and I couldn't find the charger. I spent almost an hour looking for that charger, I got so exhausted and tried to film with a laptop or my phone but it just wasn't working out for me. I wish I knew your tips before.
But that's all good cause I'm going to film tomorrow even if it's in the midst of an earthquake.

Vanessa! Thanks to your TH-cam advice my first video is currently at 1.9k views and my second video is at 5.2k views. My mind is blown! But the struggles that you talk about in this vid are ACCURATE. My first few videos took me 3-4 hours to film and sometimes 15+ hours to edit. Up until recently I was editing EVERYTHING on my iPhone. Now I edit on my laptop but I still film with my phone. So I KNOW what the beginner grind is like. Gear or no gear I hope I can make as big a difference in peoples lives with my channel as you have with yours!
As great as it is to try and be prepared as possible, it’s SOOO much more important to not get bogged down by all the little details, avoid the procrastination brought on by “analysis paralysis”, and just START!
With hindsight, it’s so easy to look back at old videos (especially the first) and think, “If only I knew then what I know now, I’d’ve done things differently.” However, Vanessa, you’re a shining example of what is possible, but only because you chose to, as Think Media would say, “start messy!” And in doing so, are a huge inspiration to us!
I have been desperate to start my YT channel for over 2 years now. At this stage, I know it’s essential for my business to help it grow, and watching your journey is a huge inspiration. I've been on TH-cam for a little bit now and it's absolutely hilarious listening to the things you went through and thinking "Yep! Same!". I personally believe that everyone has to go through these sort of trials and tribulations to find their way because each of our journeys here will be different. It humbles you and it makes for some great stomach aching, high note cackles later down the road. With your TH-cam gear I would carry on the legacy by showing the exact in's and outs of what I did on my fitness journey, the good days and the bad and also how I moved from NYC back home to DC and rebuilt my fitness empire. The idea I have for my TH-cam videos is to interview small business owners in my area. Also, elderly ones who feel like they have not had a chance to share their life. I already have a list of locations, questions, and ideas. I have just been having a hard time getting the camera because I have anxiety and I’m scared for some reason to buy the equipment I need. I completely agree on the part about how different it is to talk to a camera than to talk to a person or crowd. I have been a business owner for 7 years and have talked to news media, crowds, other business owners, state agencies etc... and thought that talking alone to a camera would be no different. I was wrong lol I messed up quite a bit and it was much harder to keep focused on what needed to be said, since there are no reactions or conversations taking place to react to or to be prompted by. My second video is in a much more laid back fashion and felt much more natural shooting in a vlog style. The most important thing and lesson I have learned as a business owner is just to start, learn to adapt and improve as you go. Great video!

By creating videos more on days other than holidays too, as recording in my phone records tons of background noise 😂and not allow attaching external microphone, and noise of college building near my apartment , so I ended up creating on holidays 😁 #vanessa you literally done bestest thing by creating this video 😍 because my first 3 videos were awful as well 🤣and hello friend "because I too get excited and reveals everything too before doing 😂 lol

Been on YT almost 4 years. My sound quality isn’t the best, using a cheap mono lavalier mic and a ring light I bought for 50% off. I would continue the legacy by using everything in the giveaway, to improve my quality of videos. I want the equipment to match my personality and what I want to share and portray on my channel. How I'll be continuing the legacy? Well obviously the first thing would be to actually pass on the equipment to another newbie who needs the stuff. But I thought it would also be great to add some more stuff to the mix, like lighting equipment, tripods etc. And the reason why is that I'm about to start a channel myself and in doing research, I realized that those things don't come cheap! Especially in my country (South Africa) 🤦♀️.
Great tips by the way, I'm still working on getting used to hear my own weird voice on a video first😅. But I did take notes for when I'm ready to actually record and upload my first video.

Your experience totally mirrored mine with my first video! I just started last month, and it took me forever to film. My camera kept dying (first from the battery, and then from overheating). When it was time to edit, I realized just how much I was meandering and doing nothing. It drove me crazy and I tried to edit out as much as I could. I think I put over 12 hours into my first video. And it still wasn't that great!
But I am slowly improving. I've started outlining a loose script to reduce my filler words, I'm becoming more comfortable speaking to the camera, and I'm learning my way around my editing software. I guess all I need now is better equipment! 😅 If I were to win a giveaway, I would take advantage of the equipment by shooting better reviews and how-tos for my planner channel. I love talking stationery, journals, and pens. Better footage means better information relayed to my viewers!

NOW, I don't count on winning anything, but I actually DREAMED about having a Cannon camera for a couple of years now. The thing is, they're expensive, so I either shoot on my iPhone, or on a crappy nameless Pro camera that produces lame quality and dies after 30 minutes of recording (and that's SUPER annoying to say the least). So yes, if I'd have your marvelous equipment?.. I'd make better videos for my TH-cam channel (finally!!!).

With this equipment, I think it’s important to acknowledge that first and foremost it would be seen as an invitation to finally to do the thing I’ve been wanting to do for so long. I started my you tube channel a week ago today. i have 2 videos filmed from my phone uploaded. I would use the equipment to bring the quality of the content to a higher level, and 10x the professionalism of my videos. This would be a dream come true as I have set a goal of becoming monetized or making 100 videos before I put money into expensive equipment. Vanessa! I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge! All your videos and tips you share are things that people dont want to share -- but you are so humble, kind and so giving. Instead of thriving on your own and keeping these secrets to yourself, you share it -- literally. I believe in manifesting and my husband and I have so many ideas for this laptop lifestyle such as life coach, art coach and travel vlogs for here on Maui, HI and we will get there, but we just are hesitant to start. Life is so short, so much has happened so far this decade and we wanna quit our corporate lifestyle.
One of our ideas is to show it is possible to travel with kids and especially a newborn. As we been told 'once you have a baby, you're stuck' its not true! Another is I always wanted to be a graphic designer so I wanna draw and share it or even be a consultant for that, if that's a thing. Another would be for my husband, he is a brilliant life coach and doesn't know it. He constantly gives advice to his co workers and friends about everything from relationship advice, parenting, sales, political events, cars, construction, fishing, hunting, astronomy...so much more and we wanna share it.

Ever since i watched your first video in 2016 about mexico i just knew i literally wanted to be a youtuber... i finally got the courage to start a channel in 2017 but i was so scared to keep up because i had nothing to use and i was always brrowing... gradually i got my iphone 8 plus which i started using to put out vlog and things i learnt from your channel i will always input it.

Hi Vanessa, I found out about your channel back in April of 2019 when I first started my Food and Travel page on Instagram. I have always wanted to make cooking videos on TH-cam and share my recipes with people. To this day, I have only been able to upload only two Vlog style videos about my travels. I watch your videos to learn more about the platform and I really appreciate your honesty. I would carry on your legacy with more videos on my travels and of course my lifelong goal of sharing my recipes on TH-cam. Keep up the great work that you do. You make all of us millennials really proud and we really look up to you.
Such a nice present! I've wanted to start my TH-cam channel for a loooong time and I did it in a way, but as I'm filming with my Iphone SE it turns out that it is not confortable and it takes me so much time to film with good quality. My first video is actually not that great! I have so many scripts written and ready to film to help my students in French get a better level and enabling them to have a touch of French weekly. With this equipment I would be able to film a lot faster and batch my content to be able to meet my deadlines and be consistent (shout out to your tips Vanessa). Thank you so much for all these great advice and videos, it has been a wonderful training for me!
Thank you for actually giving away these instead of selling as you indicated, I planned on filming my first video on my phone but didn't go well since it wasn't an iPhone so I did like a video compilation of 2019. Winning this will be a wish come true and not winning won't may delay me but definitely won't stop me. I pray I win. Thank you

This is awesome!! Once I start online boot camp in UX design, I hope to create tutorial content, showing the process of the projects I worked on. I didn’t realize how important it was to have the right gear when starting a TH-cam Channel. It doesn’t matter how good your content is if the video is hard to see and your voice is muffled then people are not going to watch. I learned this the hard way. I spent hours preparing but very little time or money investing in the right equipment. I plan to continue my mission with DreamWell Coaching company where I help Parents, children and teachers resolve emotional and behavioral problems. My current TH-cam Channel is pretty embarrassing I’ve had it for a year and let’s just say it’s a hot mess. I NEED that equipment! Please HELP!

I've wanted to make videos for youtube for some time now but never had the courage... Last year I've filmed some makeup videos but didn't like the final result and thought that I wasn't as comfortable in front of the camera as I should be (in my head at least)... So I thought about starting with IGTV trying to get more comfortable in front of the camera and the feedback that I've been receiving has been more positive than I was expecting 😊
I've been watching your videos and they are really giving me more confidence to go forward!
I will use the equipment to make videos about my lifestyle and the tips and tricks about makeup but also techy stuff. I know they say that's better to choose a niche, but I want my channel to be a reflection of me, and I really love all this 😃

I have a lot of content planned for Q2, Q1 is focused on building the agency website and get the ball rolling. I have content planned for every week of the month. I already have one video on youtube go semi-viral.. which got me to reach 1000 subscribers and that video it 100K views. Hence, in Q2, you will be proud of me to carry on the legacy and make you proud of me!

Winning the gear would make a big difference for me :) I just started my channel "Be-novative" in 2018 on tips and methods to make the otherwise complex and chaotic innovation process easier and more successful for smaller startups and large enterprises as well. Pretty soon I realised how hard it is to make good quality shots and a bit of upgrade would motivate me to film better :). I'd like to give it more focus in 2020. Fingers crossed! OMG! I totally lovee the idea of this video and this video really helped me kick start my dormant brain cells. I have miserably posted a few videos in the past and even privatized some because of the poor quality. But I'm thrilled to get back on track and provide value to others just like you. Great tips Vanessa! I'm entering the contest but would be using the camera equipment for my husband. He's got so much to share about his industry and how to help people manage their finances, that it would really be beneficial to many people to grow his TH-cam channel.
How I would continue your legacy is by actually starting my TH-cam channel. I've been wanting to venture out of my comfort zone and start a channel in hopes to get me into another career. Social media is a great way to help out a new business. Plus a great way to get to meet people that you would never meet on your own. My fingers are crossed that I am chosen.

Started my my business a year ago and attempted to ztart my youtube but couldn't do both. I made a few bad quality videos and didnt post. After finding all your videos it helped realize that what and how I needed to do it. Winning this giveaway will help to give me the push start I need to start.

Starting on TH-cam was my goal for 2020. HECK it was my goal for 2019 as well, but I didn't do it back then.
But this year I put behind the fears and doubts and started anyway. Crap quality, little to no editing - but I'm showing up as I can for now, being fully booked but still looking to market my services and grow my following, so that when I'm ready to launch my offerings, I have a dedicated audience.
Now, my focus is currently on IG, but I'd be lying if I said I don't feel like my gear still holds me a bit back on filming YT content. I feel like you can "get away" a bit more easily with macbook/iphone quality on IG xD
Again, not an excuse not to show up, but a nice-to-have! 😉
