Good to see the improvements. I am hopeful. I know everyone has an opinion, but I like the new branding that will be rolled out. Glad they kept a modernized version of the Maharaja. Curious, your destination was TLV but the map in the video showed DXB. B-roll from another video?
My recent experience despite not being a famous TH-camr was very similar. Excellent crew, warm, diligent, friendly, and very attentive! The hard product was still pretty dilapidated, though. Which I openly stated in my recent candid vlog of the experience... which in turn seems to have angered one Air India fan enough to actually send me a detailed *email* listing bad reviews of American Airlines that had similar issues to my Air India flight. Although not a single flight with all of the hard product issues I had on my one Air India flight.😂 but nevertheless, Air India is definitely on the right track!
Your timing is perfect Josh. In September I'm flying business class with AI from LHR to DEL and I too am dying to see the improvements that AI has to offer!!!! I hope to not be disappointed. One thing I do expect is maybe a old and tired aircraft, but look forward to everything else.....

Air India has tremendous potential. With their direct flights to India from America, it can really get a lot of customers if they up their game next year with the new planes and improved service. Looking forward to it.
I think if there is a wait on new planes to come through, then they need to organise some deep cleaning for the current fleet. Around the 5:00 mark, you could see the accumulated grime in the crevices and around the power outlet etc... A thorough clean and some cabin maintenance would go a long way to get them by in the medium term.
Last year when I flew to India the plane was old. But the crew were very young and eager to serve. Had loads pf food and drinks. They told me that due to the entertainment systems not working they are seeing customers asking 35% more in services, and they are happy to provide. Landing in New Delhi airport was a horror show.
As far as the hard product is concerned, I am still not sure. They would have so many different products in the future. 4 different types of 777s (Delta's, Etihad's, Singapore Airlines) leased with Air Indias newly introduced cabins for their 777s. So that makes it five different 777 cabins. Then you have the A350s, 6 of them with the Aeroflot cabins and the rest 34 to be delivered with the new Air India Cabins. You just don't know what hard product you would get if you decided to fly long haul with them.
As of now yes, there's a bit of inconsistency on the hard product until their own wide bodies will be refurbished starting next year. But the ex-Delta, ex-Etihad and ex-SQ 777s are much better than AI's current hard product.
Agree, Maharaja is back. I experienced the same travelling Newark-Delhi route. Crew is highly motivated and so is the customer service over the phone. The obvious improvements required are the in-flight entertainment and also upgrading the planes... and that clearly will improve once new planes are put into service.
Your airline reviews are the best. Far better than the other TH-camrs who will go unmentioned at this time. Keep up the good work, also any possibility of doing a new review of Tunisia air, a return trip where they guarantee your safety?
Good to see you back on Air India, and thanks for your honest feedback. I wish you had covered the recent Air India rebranding event in this video and tell something about it
The staff seem so friendly now! It's so good to see! I'm hopeful about Air India's future. I remember in the past, Air India staff used to be so rude and unbothered!
Nice review josh. Very recently Air India revealed their new logo, brand identity and gave the first look into their brand new cabin. I hope you can cover that in a separate video.
@JoshCahill, just one question. When you do these reviews, do you need to inform the airlines about this and on which flight you will go onto? Because if so, will they be so kind and happy because of you, or will they do the same service to me or anyone else?
I was curious if your glowing report of the crew during the flight was due to some of them recognizing you or was it genuine. Your summary from the hotel let me know it was real and Air India is on its way to returning to days of old. Add their new colors on the planes that was announced earlier this week shows the "Tata Effect" is taking hold. Let's hope it continues.
Hope they are now part of the worldwide check-in system. Once I traveled to India via Frankfurt (first leg LH) but I had to check-in to the Air India flight over there. It was a bit annoying (happened about 8 years back)

It’s good to see Air India under new ownership with the Tatas. There was a time when both Air India and Pakistan International were the pioneers of air travel and quality of service from the subcontinent. It’s sad to know that PIA hasn’t done anything due to whole multitude of issues.
I don't like the livery design choice of the tail. I love the color choice they have choosen. Also, the new interior renders look amazing in all classes of service.
I took a few recent flights to and fro delhi. Apart from slight delays, the in-flight service is certainly much better than what it was 2 years back. Air India has improved significantly and it will become one of the best in foreseeable future😊❤
@joshcahill I was wondering if you were considering / would consider flying on Delta’s inaugural from LAX to AUK on 28OCT. It is a *completely new* route for arguably the best US based international carrier, not a renewal of an old one. It will be on a reconditioned LATAM A350, so while it is not on the A/C with the Delta One Suite product, it should nonetheless be a very momentous beginning for US/LAX service and one of the worlds most beautiful and exotic lands. I hope you will consider it, I think it will be very a memorable day for all involved. I love your channel and your takes on aviation, my life. 🙏
Fantastic video! The title of the video could have been a but better such as "A Great Flight on Air India" or 'The Maharaja is Back". These will be more suitable since you enjoyed the flight. By reading the title I first thought that you had a bad flight.

Hi Josh, I have to commend you for your reviews on mainstream airlines and highlighting the issues you encounter on your travels. You are very professional and fair in your critiques but always trying to find the best in even some of the less extravagant airlines. Both you and your fellow vlogger Noel Phillips are exceptional in your reviews. I am not sure if you have ever witnessed a screaming match with a member of cabin crew was with an elderly passenger trying to squeeze past some lady to reach a window seat. It actually stunned me that a member of British Midland could vent their anger on any passenger. It continued during the 1.5 hour flight. I did try to intervene to calm the situation and told exactly where I could shove my comments, yhe old man was totally stunned for the whole flight. A couple of days later I put pen to paper and fired off a letter to the Crew Admin section. And I got a very prompt courteous and pro active response from their H.Q. even offering me compensation for the flight which I declined as the focus should have been directed at the elderly gentleman. How do you recover from a car crash sort of flight. Would be interested to know your thoughts?? Saw your video on Middle East Airlines which inspired me and will be heading on a trip with them soon along with Turkish Airlines Quater and Air Arabia. The true experience will take effect. Blue skies ofcourse.
Thanks for the review Josh! AI gives us the best service for sure. Sometimes they even let us find their planes at the airport for them as we cheerfully run from one boarding counter to another. It’s such an awesome experience _ feels like a crew member 😍😍😍
Had 4 QR flighta this year. 1nce Wifi didnt work on All flight, 1nce only partial. All planes where in Bad conditions, 1 plane had even 2 business class seats brocken, so people had on start/landing to sit on a economy class seat. All Times lue was very dirty. My flights were VIE-Doh-JNB-Doh-Vie. Oh and 1 plane was delayed 2 hours cause plane was broken and needed replaced
The interview is usually only for elal as they have extra security which is why people like to fly elal. They also check your bags before it boards an elal plane. With United they also do another security check at the gate

I am wanting to fly Vancouver, Canada to Kathmandu, with a lay over in Delhi. My travel agent does not want to book Air India. What are you thoughts on booking this flight direct myself?
Hey Josh, Glad to see a thumbs up to Air India. I do really want Air India to soar high. Since last April I have done a few trips on Copenhagen-Delhi route. The aircrafts remain dated, and develop issues that delay take off by hour or more. The food is hit or miss. The Indian food served on international route tastes dry and off at times than the food served on domestic sector. The in flight entertainment is mostly unavailable, still. I wouldn't say that the crew is very motivated either. The response to calls are sluggish. The crew either gives no information or gives least possible information or gives random reasons (lies?). The beverage selection is average at the best. Yes, I fly economy. Is it at all possible that you received this experience because 1. Business class and 2. Well, because your reviews carry a weight? Anyway, thank you for the great work that you are doing. Love your videos.
7:24 The heaps of booze is an air India signature Most of the travelers on it were business people or government officials This was a strategy by the crew to knock them out so they don't bother
I like the design of the flat bed seats.maybe less privacy than some ‘cubicle’ business class seating but, lots of legroom, unlike the cubby holes you find on Singapore Airlines. They’re hopeless for a 6ft tall guy!
Air India will be an airline that will become air line of the choice. I have been following this airline for long and seen unprecedented changes and improvement. Previously the staff had no accountability and the management both stationed at the airports and other places were extremely corrupt. It was common to buy an economy class ticket and get upgraded to a business class. Now it has more or less disappeared as the new management is focused on the revenue loss. It is a question of time and not if the airline is moving to become one of the greatest airline
They're about to undergo a massive rebranding too, new aircraft, new livery, give it another year or so then fly with them again and am sure thenimprivements will be even bigger and better
I wouldn’t look for clear changes until next year. New aircraft new equipment and hopefully a better experience. Rn all you can look for is the attitude of the staff
Wonderful...🙆♂️ At least the crew made a lasting positive impression... Now That's a good sign of what awaits 🤟... Good luck Maha Raja🎐. Best wishes from SriLanka❤.
I’m so happy josh did this cause air India deserved another chance they are the nicest people and yes their planes are old and crews before we’re okay but now WOW WHAT A GREAT CHANGE ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video.. food looked pretty good. One thing I would enjoy.. and you do this sometimes.. is for you to show the whole of your hotel room and name of hotel.
I travel to both India and Pakistan. From Geneva you don’t get direct flights to South Asian destinations. I would love to experience a direct flight with an improved Air India. Privatization and foreign management could also be a solution for PIA. The only problem you can over come quality of service and quality of planes. Negligence in flight safety and negligence in pilot training and experience is going to be hard to brush off for PIA. Flights are very good on GCC airlines and Turkish Airlines but transiting through a hub can be hectic. I personally was impressed by Vistara. I found it better than Indigo.
Good review Josh but as others have noted your reputation may have improved service. One often experiences the best service culture throughout India, especially in good hotels, restaurants, retailers etc. Therfore the drop in service standards at Air India over the decades reflects the horrible approach to work ethic from the top down. I'm afraid i won't be willing to fly with AI for a few years still.
Yes another sensational review young Josh. Loved it. Fancy losing one's passport! Ha! Great to see such fabulous improvements with Air India. Thank you for showing us this! You are a champion.
I would definitely recommend flying to Mumbai over Delhi. The overall airport experience is way more refined and sophisticated. Also prefer a night flight in Mumbai. The view is marvelous
food looked great. One thing maybe to do, is to observe the crew with other passengers to see if they treat everybody the same... as u are recognizable:)
I think youve misunderstood the TATA takeover, there's still time before they revamp their aircrafts and their liveries and stuff so i guess this review couldve come later.
But we need to wait atleast till 2026, Because, they are redesigning their seating layouts, Changing their SOPs and doing a huge transformation, so it will not be a great idea to expect an instant change after Tata Takeover.
the correct comment would be- Air India is Back, Maharaja is yet to come. Give Air India another two years.. with new airbus's and revanp of entire admin, retraining of crew, overhauling of looks and arsthetic, i am sure it will be on par with other A grade airlines. btw, Air India just changed its logo
Another great review Josh. It must be 20 years since I last flew Air India and I've never particularly wanted to since then. You might just have changed my mind😃
with new aircrafts coming in espicially A350 I hope and believe the Hard product will also getter better. About new logo and livery they are good but they miss Indian charecter they should have used Indian Tricolor in the livery atleast the font looks terrible i hope they change that and also change the color from red to violet/golden
I think it will take some time for Tata to do a complete overhaul of Air India. They have to undo half a century of mismanagement & poor service. You will definitely see improvements in next 5 years. They are buying planes in record numbers, training their staff at rapid rate, restructuring their departments, rebranding the entire image of the company, redesigning the interiors of the plane etc. It will take time.
Thanks for the video and the review. I do not think the TATA group will change the hard product immediately. They will probably work on the service. I wonder why 10-year-old aircraft show a lot of wear yet older aircraft still have intact facilities. Did the menu have Indian food as one of the options? Indian food is a delicacy and having an Indian meal on an Indian airline sounds appropriate.
Air India is adding ex-Etihad and ex-SQ B77Ws as a temporary addition for their own wide bodies to be refurbished. The first AI's refurbished wide body will be out next year. As far as the current aircraft are concerned, the former owner of AI, the Indian govt, never prioritized on the interiors and IFEs.
Lounges in india are far far better than the ones in Europe or the US. While the staffs annoying behavior is something to correct, the servicemindedness of the staff in Asia is something noteworthy. Kudos!!
Okkk well look Tatas were the owner of Air India back then. They almost sold it to Indian Government for almost few pennies. And then here all bad things happened. Government mishandled the Airlines did corruption. But now its back to Tatas. It will be the best but slowly snd steadily.
The food taste plays a major role in a travel so that was a big +. Not sure how they would treat a non-popular person. TATA should focus on giving privacy seats and probably a JV with Netflix for ON AIR shows atleast for the business and first class.

Not the biggest fan of the new livery, but I'm excited to see Air India transform into a world class product. Blue skies to them, and I hope they kill it in the global stage.
@@paradiseoskar5733 I pretty sure he used the word TRANSFORM there
@@paradiseoskar5733 bhai if you build a house does it get made in a day? No naa then just wait patiently and experience the change which this airline is gonna bring in the indian aviation market.
@@paradiseoskar5733 Are you some sort of hater lol? You can't fix everything in one day, there were lot of flaws in the airline which are obv being changed/improved, the food offered was improved first with slight improvement in costumer service(obv needs more improvement), age-old planes in extremely rough condition are now being replaced with newer ones and the most recent one being the change in logo, livery, and cabin. It seems like you were just too ignorant to notice these changes.
edit - Theres also a video about 5year transformation plan by airindia ceo
@@paradiseoskar5733 i think u r a nuts. He said that he is excited to see the transformation into a world class product, he does not say that this is right now a world class product.
@@paradiseoskar5733 You are the submissive equivalent of the online world. Someone who likes getting trashed online just for pleasure.
You say your flight was from Delhi to Tel Aviv but at 10:34 the end marker is placed on Dubai. Was there a stopover?
Will Air India succeed? Let me know! Also feel free to follow me on instagram.com/gotravelyourway for daily updates! 😊
One step at a time for Air India, they will get there in the end but will take time and plenty of effort. Tata will not disappoint 👍🏻
Good video Josh. I suggest you try there economy class and see as well. But good to note that AI has improved.
Yes. 100%
Depends. I think they made a giant change, I think they’ll succeed
THEY DID THAT FOR SURVEY BECAUSE THERE IS LOTS OF PRESSURE ON THEM, BUT STILL THAT BEHAVIOUR IS NOT RIGHT
Good to see the improvements.
God bless you
I understand u all guys...I also travelled in sept and I didn't face any technical issues or any problem but nor was I fully satisfied with the flight....let's wait for atleast 1 year to see the new changes as Ratan Tata has ordered 500 planes or so from Boeing and Airbus for Air India
Air India has tremendous potential. With their direct flights to India from America, it can really get a lot of customers
if they up their game next year with the new planes and improved service.
Definitely Air India will be back when Respected Mr. Ratan Tata is there
Josh, you are too kind about that dinner! That looked like two chefs who cooked two products and never collaborated what would go with what!
Your airline reviews are the best. Far better than the other TH-camrs who will go unmentioned at this time. Keep up the good work, also any possibility of doing a new review of Tunisia air, a return trip where they guarantee your safety?
14:50 I wonder what kind of service that woman received on board the plane.
The upholstery, the carpet... what a priceless décor! It has the feel of someone's front room. I hope that orange and pale beige doesn't change.
Omg!! my aunt is there!!! auntie Harsha!!!!
AAAAA
13:27 (the female in blue)
10:33 why did it show you were going to Dubai?
Good to see you back on Air India, and thanks for your honest feedback. I wish you had covered the recent Air India rebranding event in this video and tell something about it
The staff seem so friendly now! It's so good to see! I'm hopeful about Air India's future. I remember in the past, Air India staff used to be so rude and unbothered!
How scary you couldn't find your passport. It's good to see you enthusiastic about the flight. Sounds like the food service has improved drastically
Cabin reminds me of Lufthansa cabins, 747's looked just as old as well. 😅
As long as it's clean it's usable, but more modern cabins would be nice.
New Josh Cahill video? Hell yeah ✈️
Shame the crew recognised you. However great to see Air India making big steps in the right direction to getting back to where the used to be
Hope they are now part of the worldwide check-in system. Once I traveled to India via Frankfurt (first leg LH) but I had to check-in to the Air India flight over there. It was a bit annoying (happened about 8 years back)
Bro 8 yrs back💀 well let's wait for atleast 1 yr. As Ratan Tata has ordered 500 planes from Boeing and Airbus....
Very por experience traveling Chicago-Ahmedabad via Delhi 😢😢😢
Pratim i volim vas rad. Ali, jeste li se zapitali postujete li vi svojom odjecom dresscode/bonton. Osjecati se udobno u odjeci ne znači i putovati i u šortsu/bermudama, ili trenerci. Lijep pozdrav
Great review Josh, looking forward to the WhatsApp catch up on Sunday evening.
When you see crew motivated happy to do the job then you know the Arline going forward ! Unfortunately the Arline was so corrupted in the past that definitely that had effect on them ad they performance ! I know Air India order many new aircraft so definitely future look bright ! Good to see Air India getting better
It’s good to see Air India under new ownership with the Tatas. There was a time when both Air India and Pakistan International were the pioneers of air travel and quality of service from the subcontinent. It’s sad to know that PIA hasn’t done anything due to whole multitude of issues.
New livery of Air India looking pretty good.. Become my favourite along with Air New Zealand, Air Greenland, Nok Air and Air Riyadh
I'm also one of those very few people who like it. However as you would probably know, many just don't like the change.
Oh that's so funny that we released an AIR INDIA REPORT on exactly the same date, Josh...! Cheers from on the road.....
New Air India will come in 2024 , they have already released the new livery and logo
Hope they will upgrade all their seats, ground staff in Indian airports need to improve as well
2:56 That voice in the PA, is that the same voice as the PA's in Amsterdam Schiphol?
Honest review is like true gold and the roadmap to success. Tata is very keenly observing at all the reviews and trying their best to be better. Love #tata
Air india yes nice crew just that they need to get new planes. But yes Air India I believe will be one of the world's best airlines 🙏🙏✈️✈️✈️🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
time flys by so fast! i can't believe the 787 is over 10 years old. seems like just yesterday when it came out
air india is going to refurbish all their cabins till 2024, it will be interesting to see the cabin, as an indian flight enthusiast
Recently flied from del to tokyo using airindia.
Dream liner.
Entertainment system was disappointing but rest was great. Looking forward to more improvement.
Seat 3 K ! Interesting that a crew member guide you through the Seats of D / E .
! Normal Boarding Procedere is - the 2nd aisle and to the right… little strange
@5:56 @JoshCahill you should fly to Paro Bhutan! i say that because of that drukair A319
I'm flying to Bhutan in September :)
That's a beautiful airport... Specially the approach
Since Air India announced a rebrand, it would be interesting to see if the rebranding helps Air India later on
I am wanting to fly Vancouver, Canada to Kathmandu, with a lay over in Delhi.
7:24
The heaps of booze is an air India signature
Most of the travelers on it were business people or government officials
This was a strategy by the crew to knock them out so they don't bother
Good luck..dream on
They're about to undergo a massive rebranding too, new aircraft, new livery, give it another year or so then fly with them again and am sure thenimprivements will be even bigger and better
In October last year I travelled by Air India from Toronto to Delhi. It was good experience but still long way to go
Crew recognized you and gave you a great experience.
Fabulous, Josh and the Maharaja ❤🎉❤
The Tumi kit gave the idea…that they are really going hard… and not messing around. Old Air India kit and this… marked difference
@5:57 that’s National flag carrier of Bhutan 🇧🇹 Druk Air. Hope to see a review soon. Greetings and love from Bhutan. Cheers 🍻
1:18 I recently was staying at that hotel as well! And I’m about to fly on air India soon so hopefully it will be good😀
food looked great. One thing maybe to do, is to observe the crew with other passengers to see if they treat everybody the same... as u are recognizable:)
I think youve misunderstood the TATA takeover, there's still time before they revamp their aircrafts and their liveries and stuff so i guess this review couldve come later.
AIR INDIA ❤️🇮🇳
Exactly same thought about the wear. Other airlines fly > 20 year old 767 / 737 / 330 and you don’t see tape and cracks. Those parts get replaced.
1:10 traditional middle aged indian dude behavior 💀💀💀💀
