i think the reason palpatine started becoming nicer to vader closer to the battle of endor is mostly due to him starting to fear vader and what he was still capable of this is something some legends books support and would make sense palpatine was able to begin sensing vader’s second thoughts about palpatine and his want to be with his son

Palpatine has an extremely dualistic nature: he's a serpent with a forked tongue that flatters and insults with the same breath, in the same sentence. He speaks out of both sides of his mouth, he uses the paradox, "I'm telling you the truth when I say that I'm a LIAR." He honors you with his lips, but his heart is far from you.

I firt read the whole dawn of the jedi saga when when i was 15 (6 years ago).
In all honesty, it i think is was a terrible saga. And If my memory serves me well, the je'ddaii you're asking about is Tem (or tom) Madog
