To be fair to the 8th Brother, that was the first time they had met Vader and didn't know of his existence beforehand. Heck Vader was still an enigma amongst the Imperial Military hierarchy at this point as well.

Yep ,the previous issue The Grand Inquisitor attacked Vader believing him to be an intruder. And a couple issues before that Vader destroyed a small company of the empire Ships to get information on a Jedi
Kind of love that the Sith training regimen is literally “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
Now the only thing that is missing is the tale of Darth Plagueis the wise. Then they are truly ready.

An yes, there certainly is "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is an important editch, because the Sith focus MUCH more on Combat Ability & Strength than Jedi. Which is what made the Sith so formidable, even at a young age, compared to your Average Jedi.

Cutting off Sixth Brothers arm with the notion that it will teach “loss” and he will “never forget it” is no doubt a mirror of what happened to Anakin with Obi-Wan on Mustafar. Indeed something you would not forget (despite as much as Vader would try to). In a way, it could be seen as Vader indirectly admitting that there some things that are just impossible to forget, but yet also yield important lessons that can build the strength of one’s character.

I just realized, in Legends he had a similar method in the training of the Imperial Guards. Darth Vader called forth the best of the recruits and made him look weak in front of his peers cutting off his hand and killing him to teach the rest that service to the Emperor required more than you can imagine. Like with the Inquisitors, it was also to show that no matter how strong you get within your position, you would always be weaker than the Sith.

Alot of people hated vader. As a matter of fact I don't think vader had a single friend. Everyone across the galaxy feared and hated vader. Not even the people of empire liked him. But seriously doubt this simple fact ever caused the dark lord to lose any sleep over it. Because of all the people who hated him, none of their hatred for him even remotely came close to how much he hated himself.
The 501st did not hate Vader, and he did not hate them. They were his unit during the clone wars, and only clones could become a part of the 501st. Rex was his friend, even confidant. When Anakin became Vader, Rex didn't waiver or hesitate to stand beside his old general.

6:06 In the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, you can see how Grand Inquisitor and the Inquisitors were more linient to the people when they came to Tatooine searching for Jedi's. Whereas Vader, when he enters the town he literally doesn't hesitate to kill anyone in site.
To be fair sand makes him a bit course and irritable and now there's blood everywhere.

Despite them not knowing Vader it's safe to assume anybody ironclad in sith robes, not to mention how strong he is with the dark side (which they can sense to a degree) and side by side with the freakin emperor you should probably show some respect as opposed to get mouthy.
Yeah well when your in a position like him, it's kinda easy to let the power go to your head. Especially since they respected the Emperor so much, and Vader came out of nowhere by his side. I have a mouth on me. So I probably would have said the same thing.

@@sakurashogun actually it wasn't the mouthy one that lost a hand, it was another one; you'll notice the helmet is different; that being said, i have a feeling there were a lot of detached body parts by the time Vader was done
Yeah but that's how the hierarchy is established by dark side users. There is no care for official structure, whoever is the strongest rises to the top. 8th brother actually did what a good darkside user should do! He tried to claw his way up the hierarchy. Unfortunately for him, he had no way of knowing the power imbalance between him and vader was like the power imbalance between an angry jack rabbit and a lion. Fortunately, Vader is an excellent teacher and educated this young student in an area he was ignorant! One can't understate the importance of good, patient teachers(:

Vader was inspired by obi wan the most. The loss that obi wan visited upon Vader he shared with the inquisitors.
Thats a reasonable take, though in my head canon he was atleast sub-consciously thinking about his mother when he said "Loss." Thats really what started his whole journey to the dark side, and is more significant to his character than what Obi-Wan did to him.

Once you mentioned that Vader was teaching the Inquisitors about loss, I remembered this exact quote from the Ninth Sister.
"Once you lost yourself, a Limb's easy."
Probably already said, but I’ll say it anyway- its also in part a warning if you think about it. They are now darksiders. Jedi see the world in black and white, and if you hesitate, hold back, the Jedi will not hesitate to take from you, as they had taken from Vader. Fear of loss, leading to anger toward the target, leading to hate, strengthening their dark side power in a situation where the loss was… less permanent. Vader was teaching his own lesson

@@InsanityItself_ No. It's simple logic. Lucas didn't have clear ideas about what using an absolute means. It's the same thing if you say "Nothing is absolute" or "Everything is relative" and fail to see you just used an absolute to do that phrase, it's hypocritical like saying "2+2=5", you can't decide how logic works. It's the Jedi's point of view that's broken and confusing.
Vader’s whole “teaching them loss” stuff makes what the Ninth Sister says in Jedi: Fallen Order make even more sense when Cal cuts her hand off. “When you've already lost yourself... a limb's easy.”

To be fair how was the 8th brother supposed to know who Vader was when the Grand Inquisitior didn't even know. Hence why they were fighting. 8th only knows what the Grand Inquisitior tells him.

Is this our first introduction to the inquisitors? I'd like to see how AND when they turned each one.
I believe chronologically in the canon this is the earliest appearance of the inquisitors so far. I could be wrong though. As far as I am aware we haven't seen any of their origins other than part of the Grand Inquisitor's origin.
@@hereandnow3156 you get to see the origins of the Second Sister in Jedi: Fallen Order, and I think the Third Sister has her origin in the Kenobi show, but I havent watched it.
If I had my own headquarters like Vader and the Inquisitors, it would be on a remote world, likely in the Outer Rim, that was strong in the light side of the Force.
Their whole purpose is to dispatch to other worlds to hunt Jedi, why would they station themselves in the most isolated region away from said worlds?

@@bangerxshane easier to defend when people are a bit more fearful to venture there. There’s plenty of imperial space that any foe would have to pass by. Tons of threats before the main fortress, which wouldn’t be easy to take to begin with. Even if you can get your forces to a remote world through enemy territory, in a timely manner. You are still left out of luck if you need reinforcements or more supplies. Hate to reference the sequel trilogy, but Palpie was able to create a massive army unbeknownst to any rebel on a remote world.
@@weepie4089 and ofc the clones were created way out there too, it took Obi-Wan snooping around after an attempted assassination to even learn about the army; i wonder if they would have had them show up on Geonosis if he hadn't found out about them?
Not a great take. The light side of the force corrupts the same as the dark, on top of that they’d have difficulty dispatching inquisitors to the rest of the galaxy, and thirdly it offers no strategic benefit that couldn’t be replicated elsewhere.
All I can say, is starkiller got off easy compared to the inquisitors.
Vader had starkiller for himself as a personal apprentice, a weapon to use against Sidious. He'd never damage him if he didn't think he had to. The inquisitors, however, were ultimately Sidious's. They were competition. And he couldn't just kill them outright without pissing off Palpatine.
Starkiller didn't get off easy at all lol! Do you know how many clones were destroyed before Starkiller survived? Then he was tortured, trained like a dog, tortured even more if he tried to think for himself. Starkiller suffered more then any of them.

I think this kind of training for the inquisitors might have been inspired by Palpatine. Because let's not forget when he sent Vader back to mustafar with a partial handicap and with a sith assassin hot on his trail to teach Vader lesson

That time Vader did a 360 noscope while dancing off with the emperor (CANON)
Darth Vader lost an arm to Dooku and the loss made him powerful and experienced enough to get revenge three years later. But then, his arrogance over his victory over Dooku and his introduction to the Dark Side made him forgot about this lesson, thinking he was now unbeatable. His even more crushing defeat on Mustafar made sure he would never forget again. This is why Darth Vader would likely beat his Anakin self in a duel, maybe even faster than Obi-Wan did.
It seems teaching through pain and loss is a common teaching method. It makes me wonder what Sidious went through.

I feel like he may have taken a small page from revans book with that one. When Malak failed to be what a sith should be, unable to kill revan, He slashed off Malaks jaw as a lesson. A lesson in hate and loss. Malak hesitated when attacking revan, and that's why he failed. So revan made sure he would never hesitate again. Hard to forget a lost jaw.

They should make a series of just the inquisitors, then going on missions etc with the end them hitting a rebel base with Vader or going on a Jedi hunt some trusting each other while others not caring who dies between them . This could be tweek a bit just a rough draft

Obi-wan inspired me when he chopped of my limbs and left me to burn in the lavas of Mustafar.
Part of me does wonder, apart from Kenobi, or maybe Yoda, what mighty Jedi Vader, and the Emperor, were worried about the Inquisitors squaring off against? Granted, the Grand Inquisitor couldn't kill Ezra, and/or Kanaan, but he certainly beat them, ad a group even, multiple times. In the video games, most of the Inquisitors are boss monster-level, even against the likes of Cal Kestis, or Kanaan Jarus, so they seem like they'd do fine.
I do sort of wish that there had been one who simply accepted, and even appreciated, being the servant; knowing his place, and enjoying having someone a ove him dealing with minutiae. I get that the Dark Side likes ambition, and maybe someone like Vader wouldn't even approve of someone who didn't strive to be the top, but one of my frequent RP character themes, of late, has been the one who acknowledges, accepts, and even appreciates being a tool; an implement of Chang, and of the vision of one who has grander ideas. Sort of like a D&D Cleric who KNOWS that they serve an immortal deity whom they'll never surpass, but they don't want to; their vision and ambition is to further those of that deity. Maybe that's part of why Legacy fit so well with me, as Krayts acolytes "knew their place", and saw him ad more of an idea to aspire to, and not a benchmark to surpass.
Imo I don’t think the Emperor was really worried about a singular Jedi but more so worried about the Jedi banding together to fight the empire. Jedi thrive in groups while Sith abide by the rule of two. Just think if the rebellion had multiple Jedi fighting the Empire together with Luke, then they would’ve probably won a lot sooner
@@youngrootv Its not necessarily the rule of two that strengthens their ability to play it more solitary more easily. Even seen in the old republic era, sith typically did things on their own while reluctantly having to play nice with others. it was why the rule of two was even created to begin with for them. Sith simply couldn't work together if it didn't align with their own agenda and they fought amongst themselves more times than not.
regardless, its true in a sense that sith do thrive on their own better then a jedi would.
Those 2 unnamed inquisitors, who got killed by Vader, are literally only inquisitors, that would deserve their own show.

I never imagined the inquisitors were former Jedi. I was under the impression they were trained Sith from scratch, kind of like Darth Maul. It does explain how met their demise in the Star Wars Rebels series. I wonder if Reva underwent the same treatment. Anakin did go through those intimation trials, losing his arm twice, losing his beloved Padme and mother, giving into his anger and suffering heavy burns that required him to undergo cybernetics. What Vader does not consider is that he has gained nothing out of all of this, just more loss and suffering, his two children being the last things dear to him.

It’s a valid teaching method, if they have faced death multiple times, they have no fear of death which gives them a advantage over Jedi who want nothing but to live, they will become aggressive and erratic which would be hard to counter In a defense position, this would strike fear into the hearts of all the stand before them
That's the thing though, Jedi don't want "nothing but to live". The whole Jedi way is saying that death is the will of the force and not to be afraid in the face of it. That's why Qui-gon just died after being stabbed but Maul kept going after being cut in half and more future injuries. The Sith want to keep living so they can get more powerful, the Jedi are warriors of the force and heed its call no matter where it takes them or if it kills them
Jedi have no fear, they accept things as they come. Also, generally speaking, those who face death often either develop an INTENSE fear of it, which is VERY damn common, or develop apathy toward it which is very damn rare. Ignore what books and movies show regarding this, it is exceedingly rare for someone to develop apathy toward death for real. Writers have been using it for their villains for so long that people think it is common for that to happen when in reality it is quite rare.
Fear of death is actually the biggest motivator for Sith. Fear brings anger which brings hate which brings power. Sith want to inflict deep fear in their disciples to lead them into the power of the Dark side. Jedi are the ones with no fear of death.

I see a lot of comments about how everyone hated Vader but not as much as he hated himself. It makes even more sense then why Luke could turn him so easily with Love. Vader became so 'coddled' by darkness and hate that he all but forgot what love and light is. Many Siths are turned by the fear of losing something or someone, hate kept Vader alive just as much as his suit. Think of how Maul survived in clone wars. But that small glimpse of light, the love Luke showed his sister and the strength to not hate Vader is what drove Vader to kill the Emperor but Vader now Anakin again died not just by removing his helmet but also by letting go of the hate the very sith tactic that can prolong life.
(the Vader suit might I add is also designed to be tortuous and create more hate)
Being an angry Padawan was not enough to fully bring the power of the dark side... Pain and suffering, physical and mental are the starting point, that will bring hate and the desire of revenge against Vader, on the long run they will learn to focus that anger and resentment making them more efficient as welders of the dark side...
honestly it makes sense vader did this. to renounce what has already been taught sometimes they need to be broken out of their norm. i mean they all were former jedi but still fighting as if they didnt go to the dark side.

I understand their weaker but two groups perhaps 20,....30....? All force users to some degree. The Sun guard where able to hold their own with Mandalorians. Mandalorian were able to do extremely well against Jedi. To many numbers for me.
Thinking about it Rey &Kylo had their hands full with 9. What would 30 or 40 be like with both groups.
In fairness the Mando's honed how to kill force users over many millennia. From using their beskar armor to turn the blades of Jedi surprising them, using verpine ballistic weapons that the Jedi couldn't deflect and using all encompassing flamethrowers. As well as alternating shot placement to force overreach. They were warriors with long traditions and hilariously the most accepting culture in the universe. Hell by the time of the clone wars alot of em were regretful of the genocides their forefathers had committed.

I frequently think Darth Vader needed a good PR man, who could tell the galaxy that he was a "mean m.f.", who shouldn't be messed with. He keeps running into people who don't realize that pissing him off is "suicide by Sith"!
