Hey Brother! Thanks for the video! My wife and I travel that route as often as we can to "escape the flatlands" and since we're close to the 330 that's the one we use the most. Thank you for making this video Nick! I'm lock dot, this is my other account. I never take the 330, it's too busy and twisty for me. I hope you and Rachel are doing good!
@@digitaljon1109 it’s bad bro and I want you to know. I never hit traffic on the 330. Ever honest to goodness man. Never it is really windy though. The only time that serious traffic is going to be. There is when we have snow but typically I stay up here when we have snow because I’m making videos in Big Bear but just for your future reference. As long as there’s not snow. In most cases you’re gonna be OK and it’s good to hear from you, bro.
@bigbearweatherandmore6621 you are correct, highway 330 doesn't have a humongous traffic jam all the time. But what I'm saying is it's a lot more busy. There is lots of cars going up and down the mountain. Lots of oncoming cars which I don't like. There's also lots of cars coming up behind me and I go slow so I would have to take every single turn out on the way up the hill. On highway 38 I can just hold the car at 2500 rpm and not take many turnouts at all because there's not as many cars.
@@digitaljon1109Jon yes OK. I kind of misunderstood the first comment a little bit, and when I reread the comment, then I understood it. My ADD and dyslexia sometimes messes with me lol. But yeah, I like to take Highway 38 because I could just cruise. Definitely just cruise. And the fact that you are willing to use all those turnouts I’m assuming because you’re a selfless kind person who is trying to keep traffic flowing and you’re letting the faster people go by. That is so important my friend if everybody did that these mountain roads would be so much better traveledgood for you for doing that because a lot of people think it’s a race and then people’s ego gets involved and they never pull out and it’s just a big problem lol.
@bigbearweatherandmore6621 the 18 and the 330 are nice roads. But I pretty much have to take every single turn out. Going up the hill I'm going about 25 to 30 miles an hour on those 2 specific highways. Lots of turns plus steep hills. The backside through Lucerne Valley is even steeper with a 10% grade I am cruising often less than 25 mi an hour. It's extremely steep. Because nearly everyone is going faster than me up the hill I have to use every single turnout which means I have to stop every 2 or 3 minutes which uses quite a lot of fuel to go from a stop to moving again. So I want to not take turnouts if possible and have a more relaxing drive so I prefer the long 38 route. Except recently since the 330 got closed the 38 has been very busy. Sometimes so busy I actually catch up with the cars in front of the Hill which is extremely weird. Going down the hill is also interesting. I tend to go a lot faster, about 55 miles per hour for a little bit above with the corner says if the corner says 25 I'll go 30 around it. Recently has been so busy on that road I keep having to use the brakes even if I'm using engine braking I'm afraid I'm getting the brakes too hot so I sit in a turnout for a while hoping the slower cars go further down the hill and then I'll be able to go as fast as I want but I usually end up catching up anyway a second time. But yes you are right both routes don't have traffic jams. The only situation there is is if somebody sadly gets in a car crash.
I don't like taking all the turnouts because it uses a lot of fuel to speed back up. If I cannot use a turnout I will. But on the 18 and 330 it's not possible to not use turnouts. Another nice thing about the 38, the part of the bottom of the hill when you're around mountain village and mentone where it's straight roads but steep uphill, if cars come up behind I can just maintain my 45 mi an hour or whatever I'm able to achieve and just pull off into the shoulder and let them by while still maintaining my speed.
Hola amigo. It will take a long time, but you know what I’m excited to see what it’s gonna turn into and how beautiful. It’s gonna be a very happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. It’s good to hear from you. My good buddy.

Thank you for making this video Nick! I'm lock dot, this is my other account. I never take the 330, it's too busy and twisty for me. Recently the 38 has been very busy since the 330 closed, I'm excited for the 330 to be nice and rural feeling again! (:
I have not got far enough into the video to see the fire damage yet, might not till tonight, I have things to do, but couldn't pass up stopping by early and saying hi!
So sad. It will take a long time to recover, but some of it will. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hola amigo. It will take a long time, but you know what I’m excited to see what it’s gonna turn into and how beautiful. It’s gonna be a very happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. It’s good to hear from you. My good buddy.

If you would’ve kept on watching for another two or three minutes, once we passed some more guard rails, I was referring to them as guard rails, but I had a dementia moment or something, bro. It was really bad kind of like when you’re sitting in a chair or something and you can’t think of the name of the thing you’re sitting on. That’s kind of how it felt yesterday and that really worried me actually because that’s what happened with my grandmother. She started to forget small words like that.

So sad to see what was the name of this fire? Was this all just from the line fire?
@@bloblablah7409 hey Blo. So that’s what I thought. I thought it was all from the arsonist who started The Line Fire. However a buddy of mine said there was also a controlled burn that got out of control. I hate those controlled burns. So dumb but I know they have it down pretty good to a science but any gnarly wind shifts and this happens.
I didn’t hear a thing about controlled burns becoming uncontrollable, and I was covering this fire every single day. Doing a lot of research. As far as I know it was because of some stupid guy. NOPE....ARSON
@marymckovich4253 residents of Highland saw firemen setting up hours before the fire erupted.
@@christianblackmtlrlz Christian they already arrested the guy. He went to jail. It was all over the news every single news channel so maybe a controlled burn got away in a difference scenario, but that fire that I drove through. At least the Reminence of what happened that was due to an arsonist. No question about it. But again, I’ve known you forever. You’re a local and running Springs so if you’re telling me this, I’m gonna look into it a little bit more. Maybe a firefighter have the fire get away from him when he was doing a controlled burn and maybe that started some more fire, but what was all over. The news was a picture of the douche bag who got caught starting fires in four different areas throughout the bottom of the mountain in Highland area.
So let me know what you know, bro if you type in the line fire and how did it start? @@christianblackmtlrlz yeah I hope you let me know more about that because all over the news was about the arsonist and what he did. It was on every news channel for a long time. He started the fire in Highland. I haven’t heard a thing about a controlled burn getting out of control. I haven’t heard anything and I was reporting on the fire every day so if you do know something different or maybe there was a controlled burn as well. That got out of control. That’s something I can believe but let me know, bro, because I’d be willing to bet you a nice steak dinner that it was arson from that douche bag. But let me know because you’re local and running Springs and I’ve known you forever.
@bigbearweatherandmore6621 the county ordered the burn for that area 2 weeks prior. The firemen involved in the controlled burn might have thought nothing of it. I'll find a picture of one of the residents who uploaded the letter of notice from the county they received on there door.
And in 20 years or so the fuels will go back to the regular state and the cycle repeats
@@Twigarms9959 you are absolutely correct, and these fuels were ready to burn and it was just a matter of time.
