      Can't go wrong with Mizuno. Been playing the same Mizuno "True" blades since 2001....2-iron thru P-wedge.
      Don't see myself ever using anything besides Mizuno. Call me brand loyal bc their irons are awesome.

    rick or Pete ...your statements about irons were spot on ...and even though I went to get fitted last week for ping I 200s ...once I picked up the callaway apex cf16 I just couldn't deny look for me ...and the feel was much softer as is should be ...dead set on a new set of pings I just couldn't keep from picking the apex back up and hitting it ....and trust me I hit a very wide variety of different manufacturers....and even after some of the bad chatter on youtube about the apex cf16 I just couldn't go with anything else ...love look ...loved the numbers and data ...and in the end looks , feel , and factual data all considered....the apex cf16 was just the irons for me ....so please anyone else reading this ...the youtube vloggers preach getting fit for a reason ....

    Rick/Pete - have either of you guys ever considered going through an Edel putter fitting? I went through one about 2 months ago and absolutely LOVE the putter they fit me into and built for me. I bought a custom-fitted O-Works 7 putter a couple of weeks ago. First time out on the course at the weekend and putted mostly very well with it. Not convinced the tech is so amazing like the marketing would claim but in fairness I had a few putts off the green which seemed to hug the turf far better, rather than the unpredictable bumpiness you might usually get.
    15 putts in 9 holes (including two holed off the green) was pretty pleasing - though obviously still in the honeymoon period!

  • @eharrison7414
    @eharrison7414 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pete, I think your description of your putter is exactly how you should think of your putter. Putters are probably the worst club in the bag for falling in love with and hence we are less likely to put one in the 'naughty cupboard' when it's not working whereas when you have one that you can trust but also threaten with being binned then it'll work or quite simply be replaced for one that does work.

  • @thejuniorcollector2426
    @thejuniorcollector2426 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I would so love to see Pete start using an Edel putter. His setup and stroke look like they would work well with either the E-2 or E-3 models. I was fitted last year and was paired with the E-2, and I can honestly say that it saved me. I was going to give up golf because of my putting until my wife got me to go have a putter fitting for my birthday. She must really not want me at home. :)

      If it makes the difference for you that is has for me, then you'll never want to look at or consider another putter again. I honestly believe I was the worst headcase when it came to putting ever and now I'm ready to get back into tournament golf. Good luck with your new weapon! I hope it works wonderfully for you too.

    I just bought a set of Ping Gs and they are fantastic. Got a proper fitting and tried lots of alternatives. I thought the Taylormade M2 would give me the distance and forgiveness I was looking for but the Ping G gave me that and better consistency, too. Looking forward to the new season. :)

  • @littleskater34
    @littleskater34 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a shaft geek, I feel that shafts are very overlooked by many golfers. You and Rick should do a tech tuesday on shafts, and the crucial aspect of fitting. Many golfers get into a mentality that they need to play shafts that the pros play, and that isn't right.

  • @bayoubengal6112
    @bayoubengal6112 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The most underrated club is the Mizuno JPX 900 hybrid. Awesome! I do agree with Ping hybrids but the new Mizunos are outstanding!

  • @stephendibari7704
    @stephendibari7704 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great review , like the banter. Surprised Mizuno didn't get mentioned for irons. just got custom fit for JPX 900 Forged irons amazing feel with loads of forgiveness #nothingfeelslikeamizuno.
    Agree with Rick on the fairway metals and rails on King F7. I have the 3-4 fairway metal (also have the 3-4 hybrid too). I've yet to play on the course with them but they felt terrific in the PGA superstore. Gonna pick up the 5-6 fairway metal soon.

    Dunno if Rick will read this, but... Rick you should do a review on the Bombtech grenade wedges... I have the set of 3 (52,56,60) and have been very impressed with the performance. Would be interested in what your take on them is... BTW feel like they are fairly soft feeling to me.

  • @metamurph
    @metamurph 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    soft wedges: Mizuno the new ones are not as soft as prior now that they have boron in them. I do however like SM6. I think it is interesting to see how few pros have moved to Cleveland RTX 3 most still use 588 RTX 2. Another to try Edel. What I don't like with forged wedges is they wear out too quickly, I would hope a little boron helps that.

  • @unnervingfalcon
    @unnervingfalcon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hearing both of you mention about how some wedges like the SM6'S from Titleist don't feel soft didn't make sense to me. So I went and talked to my club maker and asked him about it. He said nobody should be able to feel the difference between forged and non forged with how hard the metal is. What golfers are feeling is how the shaft. He said it all depends on the shaft he puts in or what comes with the club. If he puts a KBS shaft in the wedge it would feel soft because their shafts are designed to make them feel soft.

    • @peterfinchgolf
      @peterfinchgolf  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure about that bud, hitting a Mizuno forged blade and Ping G out of the sweet spot with the same shaft will feel difference. Same with wedges

    • @unnervingfalcon
      @unnervingfalcon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A proper test would be using same head and ball with different shafts. I'm just saying what he said. He has 35 years of experience making clubs for average golfers and pros.
