In Re:CoM, I saw Zexion as a cool parallel to Namine. Namine illusioned Sora (in place of Kairi) to make him believe that she deserved to be his special person, whereas Zexion illusioned Riku (as Sora) to made him believe he didn't deserve to be by his side. Also, they both use books - Zexion's based on knowledge and Namine's sketchbook based on using imagination.
As an introvert I always liked Zexion. He is reserved, does not have a bad aura about him, he is smart, and keeps out of the spotlight. I think ironically the fact that he doesn't stand out actually makes him more unique.
when i first saw zexion in re com, i actually thought he would be a lot more integral to the overarching story of kh, he struck me as the kind of person who had a hidden agenda or like some sort of master plan that would change the entire meta, kind of like how xigbar ended up being luxu in the end, i always felt like zexion was gonna have some kind of crazy reveal or something like that
I theorize Ienzo was orphaned by the Darkness, and that is why Ansem the Wise took him in. I also believe Ienzo can sense Darkness even as a normal child because He witnessed the Darkness in action. Which is why he and Braig alone can sense Master Xehanort's Darkness in Apprentice Xehanort, and why Ienzo is the one who pushes Ansem the Wise to continue experimenting with Darkness. To understand the "Beings" who took his parents from him. Zexion, therefore, can "smell" Darkness and can smell Riku's Darkness which is like Master's Xehanort's Darkness and he wanted to weaponize it. Why? Because Zexion also wields one of the Darkness's greatest weapons, Illusions of the Heart.

Zexy's a good boy. Blind obedience doesn't make you good, but it's not like he had a choice.
Braig was already working for Ansem the wise, he's wearing the same uniform dilan and aeleus use before he meets with xehanort.
1993 Radiant Garden 🤣😭

He and Naminé would make a great team.
