I love where Avi takes off his beanie and replaces it with a cowboy hat and a smile. It’s like he’s home.
BTW Avi makes a cameo in Home Free’s “Champagne Taste with a Beer Budget”.

      I love Champagne Taste!
It’s another hilarious one, both the video and the lyrics.
It’s written by Tim “Balls Drop” Foust. He was annoyed that his employer at the time, demanded a country song, so one night he downed a bottle of jack and decided to write the cheesiest country song in the history of cheesy country songs and thus Champagne Taste (On A Beer Budget) was born.

Home Free sang this song during The Sing-Off. Tim went even lower, causing the judges to give a standing ovation. Jewel, one of the judges, called Adam's beat "country reggae". Home Free often sings this crowd-favorite at their concerts, and Tim will often play around with that last note to the delight of the crowd. ~Eagerly waiting for more Home Free from y'all ~

Great reaction! I saw Home Free live last fall and they are amazing. Tim blew out a speaker with a low, low note. I'm glad you noticed Adam the beatboxer again. In my opinion, he makes HF the best a capella band out there. You'll have to watch Brothers in Arms for Tim's bass. End of the Road and When a Man Loves a Woman are songs you're probably familiar with and HF kills them!

Avi has a smooth bass, he's had opera training, and Tim's is different he has a more gravel bass, like a bass vibration. I've been to Home Free concerts (yes plural) and Tim shakes everything with that bass! The floor, the seats, body parts etc. He has brought down plaster from the ceiling of one venue I was there. We all survived. It's an experience.

Hi again ladies. A few more tid bits on these guys. First (sorry to say) that Avi is no longer with Pentatonix. At least that is what I was told. Also Tim has a legitimate 5 octave vocal range. In the 1st one you watched the guy who was doing the jaw harp sound (Adam Chance) was not in this one. This was before he joined the group. The guy he replaced was actually the founder of the group Chris Rupp (who is the beatboxer Adam Rupp's brother). Chris was in this one. (wearing a cowboy hat). When Chris decided to go off and do other projects he suggested that Chance replace him, and that is what they did. Oh BTW, there are a bunch of videos on YT from their live shows, where Adam (beatboxer) does about an 8 or 9 min solo, while the others take a break. Look for Adam Rupp drum solo. The beatboxer also has a really good tenor voice, which he only uses when there is no beatboxing (like some of their Christmas songs and Gospel songs). There is no shortage of songs to make you laugh, but for some sheer beautiful sound, you might try Go rest high on that mountain or How great Thou art. When you do eventually get to Mayday, you will hear more of the versatility of some of their voices. You ladies are just too much fun. Hope it keeps being fun for you!

    • @jadaskye
      @jadaskye ปีที่แล้ว

I can recommend an interview Chris Rupp did with reactor QoFy in August 2021. Chris is very candid in it explaining why he left HF and that he actually was not involved in the recruitment of Chance. The pertinent info is at the 33 minute mark of the interview.

Tim and Avi have distinct tone and timbre to their voices but both are incredible. I love the way that Avi removes his beanie and replaces it with a cowboy hat at the end of the video as an homage to Tim when Tim hits and sustains the G1 note at the end of the song. Tim has a 5+ octave range and he highlights that range in his cover of Stay/Will You Still Love Me where he sings sll of the vocal parts. Great reaction. Puff puff pass 😂👍✌️

You guys should listen to Hillbilly Bone. That's a BBQ you would enjoy attending. Another funny one you might enjoy is their take on Meghan Trainor's "All About that Bass". It's a very old one, but they did a take-off of the original video, recreating it scene by scene except when they sing "It's all about that bass" Tim (balls drop) sings "It's all about me". I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think Tim's bass voice is cleaner, clearer and more 'controlled' (your term) than Avi's. Nothing against Avi. But one of Avi's coaches on singing Bass was Tim.

I think Avi's voice is like caramel, Tim is salted caramel...and I'm here for both. You are all so giddy, I am smiling even before you started the video. That last note from Tim, I can feel it in my chest, which is incredible since I'm wearing headphones. Adam's reggae beat in this was a stroke of genius. Tim really shows off his range in this one, that 5 octave range from the opening lines to that final note.

Of the 4 currently ruling a cappella groups (Home Free, VoicePlay, Pentatonic and The Bass Gang), Home Free is consistently my favorite. • @dagmar.6954
    @dagmar.6954 ปีที่แล้ว +5

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

  • @thisismetoday7423

Edited to add I love PTX and Home Free but I extra love Voiceplay! Voctave is another love!!
I recommended Voiceplay accapella to you ladies. You will love Geoff Castelucci’s bass singing! They have a huge variety of music to choose from so it just depends what you prefer.
    Just a few options:
Rock: Nothing Else Matters, Dream On, Carry on My Wayward Son, Seven Nation Army, Queen in 5 minutes
Slow: Tennessee Whiskey, I Can’t Make You Love Me, I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, Bridge Over Troubled Water
Disney: Little Mermaid Medley, Moana Medley, Go the Distance, We Don’t Talk About Bruno
Broadway/Show: Phantom of the Opera, Wicked Medley, The Greatest Showman Medley, Hoist the Colours (from Pirates of the Carribean)
For Fun: Hide and Seek (Haunted Mansion), In the Hall of the Mountain King, Oogie Boogie’s Song or Tris is Halloween (from Nightmare Before Christmas) and any of their ACA 10 lists, Boy Bands in 5 minutes
    Pop: Bang, Butter
Others: Warriors, Dragonborn Comes, Valhalla Calling, Superstition, Daddy Sang Bass
Another good one is Vampires verses Hillbillies which is Voiceplay battling Home Free.
Something to keep in mind about Voiceplay is they are the theatrical ones of the acapella groups. They are very artistic and creative so you might see them in costumes putting on a full production. Also sometimes they add effect on their sounds in production but it’s still all just their voices! Enjoy!

If you want to see Tim's 5 octave range.... Search "Tim Foust, will you still love me tomorrow", It's a single by Tim, where he sing's every layer of the song.

Actually the version of this song that they did on the Sing Off without Avi is much better, in my opinion. They did not need him to add anything do the song, I guess they wanted him in it. I am a 1000% Home Free fan. I don’t listen to pentatonix, voice play or any other acapella group because (again my opinion) no group comes close to Home Free. The off color comments about certain body parts are totally unnecessary. 🙄🙄 Y’all sound like middle school girls.

You're right to fan girl on Home Free & Pentatonix, but take a time-out for Chris Stapleton. They call him country but he's really country R&B. No dog dies, no twangy steel sit-down guitar, no banjo & and no 50's style scat. Highly recommend 3 live performances: " Tennessee Whiskey" atAustin City Limits; "Cold" at 2021 CMA awards show; and "I Was Wrong" also an Austin City Limits performance. I predict that you'll love it. Also try the latest Home Free - Stargazer Lilies. One last random song Righteous Brothers "I Just Want To Make Love To You" I like your reactions - keep it up you'll get to 10k soon.

If you love Avi check out his solo career starter of Rise. I have never heard this tone come out of Avi before.

Fabulous reaction. My only criticism is TOO MUCH REVERB on the soundtrack as it adds additional percussive echos that takes away from Adam Rupp's original percussion beatboxing. You expect to expect a clearly percussed beatboxing sounds. With the reverb too loud it gives an echo a fraction of a second later. For vocal melody wth lyrics, that isnt a big deal. For percussion it's like having two drummers where the 2nd drummer never catches up with the primary drummer. It makes the drumming sound kinda muddy. A drum corps (of several members) never sounds good when the drummers are out-of-sync.
Home Fries are the FANS of the 1st & only vocal country band called Home Free.
Home Free even refers to their fans as Home Fries in concert and maybe a few times at the end of their YT videos.

The best part about Home Free is that it's their goal not to take themselves too seriously. I could never get into pentatonix, they can sing, but they're just so rigid by comparison. Once you work up to 'Mayday' by Home Free, it will ruin your view on every other acapella group. Depending on your mood, I would recommend the following from Home Free:
Visual story: Everything Will Be Okay
Bass: Elvira (feat. The Oak Ridge Boys)
    Fun: Country Fried Pop Medley

I have a double Home Free number from a live performance that I think y'all would like. It's a skit done at an event, recorded by two people in the audience, one near the left side of the stage and one on the right side. It's interesting that you can get a better view or hear something better on one side that you missed on the other. Like the strip attempt, or the special beloved guest. The titles of the two videos are Home Free "Songs That Didn't Make The Cut" 5-9-16 and (Home Free: Patreon Party) Songs that didn't make the cut. I love this skit and will watching over and over sometimes, loving every minute. Enjoy!

Y’all may want to look into Geoff castelucci and the group voice play if y’all like amazing harmonies and ridiculous singing abilities…Geoff is another true bass possibly the most talented of the three of them. Avi, Geoff, and Tim.

Since you are all pentaholics and now home fries, you need to visit the third stop on the accapella trifecta.... voiceplay.... avid and tim’s Balls haven’t dropped compared to Geoff castalluci. A tie between them is home free Elvira done with the Oak Ridge Boys was arranged by castalluci. Voiceplay goes overboard with full sets and costumes along with super accapella. They also a lot of time feature other singers in their covers. Geoff also does a lot of solo covers. For example....Geoff’s cover of Sixteen Tons, or Voiceplay’s covers of The oogie boogie song, Valhalla calling, or The Dragonborn comes.

This is a great video but I still prefer the version our HF fellas sang for their third performance on the 4th season of The Sing Off. It just showcases their strengths even better than this one--in my humble opinion. ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
(This one does indeed feature Avi Kaplan--another exceptional bass--who has been mentored in bass excellence by Home Free's Tim Foust (as has VoicePlay's Geoff Castellucci)).
