Tim (the first lead singer) wrote this arrangement at age 19. I'm sure you can tell he is a bass - with a twist. He has a 5 octave range which he shows off in some other HF songs as well as his own channel. The second lead singer is Austin. He left the group in June of this year. My personal favorite from the group is "Do You Hear What I Hear" which was arranged by by Adam Rupp, co-founder and beat boxer for the group. You will not be disappointed in any song they do. I'm glad to see somebody else as enthralled by bell chords as I am.
Yes, welcome to Home Free, all acapella, no instruments at all. Masters of all musical genres. This is not the song most people hear first when reacting to Home Free for the first time. However it does showcase their harmony and skill. They won the 4th season of the Sing Off in 2013. Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces. Within this 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. All of them can sing lead and they choose depending on whose voice best fits the song. Typically Rob sings tenor, Austin sings high tenor, Chance sings baritone, Tim sings bass and Adam Rupp is the beat boxer. But they have been known to mix it up. They can do just about anything and they continue to grow and improve, yet they remain so humble. When they have featured guest artist, they support and allow their featured artists to shine. Several of them have their own channels and do some solo work. And just for fun Rob and Austin sing Opera. What else can I say? Their catalogue of work is quite large and continues to grow. You are in for an exciting journey and the Home Fries will be there for you all the way.
Another favorite Christmas song is "Do You Hear What I Hear". Home Free performed the song outside in an Ice Castle. You have a beautiful voice! I really enjoyed your singing.
Just subscribed with hopes for more Home Free. They are the best! They do a huge variety of music and each have a very impressive vocal range. Even Adam, the beatboxer, was singing in this one and I love when that happens. Thanks for the Home Free reactions! Your song was a very beautiful treat.
Welcome to the Home Free party. Tim Foust, the bass who was the first soloist, arranged this when he was 19. He's made some adjustments since then, but it's basically that first arrangement. Their version of Angels We Have Heard on High, which snuck in at the end, is also fabulous. Arranged by Chris Rupp, the guy in the hat. Their catalog is very deep and varied - everything from country to rock to R&B to sacred, even a little opera from the 2 tenors. Anyplace is a good place to go next, but I highly recommend their version of How Great Thou Art, filmed in the Austrian Alps. Enjoy the ride.
Excellent reaction Nikolleta. I look forward to more to come with Home Free. They are an exceptional group. I'd also like to compliment you on your version of the song. You have a beautiful voice!
A little background on the guys. Tim, who is first singing lead, is from Texas. Austin, who goes falsetto, is from Georgia. The others are from Minnesota. One commenter here mentioned Chance. He's not in this video. That bass-baritone from Alabama joins the group when Chris Rupp, in the cowboy hat, leaves in early 2016. Austin Brown has a degree in musical theater. Rob Lundquist (glasses) has an opera background. The two of them did a video singing Nessun Dorma that is fabulous. Austin left to go solo about five or six months ago so their latest Christmas number -- You're a Mean One, Mr, Grinch -- has Bastien (Bass-teen), who was actually a former member twice over. Note: Chance and Bastien go by their last names since the name 'Adam' was already taken by the beatboxer and original member Adam Rupp.
Welcome to the world of the Home Fries. I saw them in concert last night, my 5th go around. Not only are thy exceptional at what they do, they are just a great bunch of guys. Down to earth and down right funny. Their playfulness is one of their most endearing charisterics. And thank you for your gift at the end. It was simply beautiful. You have a new subscriber.
I love acapella! It's the first time I've heard this group as well and I'm impressed! And your version: Chef's kiss! We don't hear you sing much as you let us (your students) sing. So this was a treat and I enjoyed it so much!
If you love acapella you really need to go down the Home Free rabbit hole. Hundreds of official videos, many genres, fantastic voices, and beautiful harmonies.
Wonderful reaction - subbed hoping for more #HomeFree!! Sticking true to the season, you might try "Do You Hear What I Hear" by them. Also... wow - what a beautiful voice you have! Thanks for sharing that with us
Home Free is my favorite (and I don't use that word lightly) a capella group. They changed members a few times, but they all work great together. Adam Rupp (the middle-back man) is their beatboxer, and he is amazing! A few of my favorites of theirs are: Man of Constant Sorrow Ring of Fire Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer Shoot, just about anything of theirs! Tim Faust (the bass) did a solo album that is amazing, too. His rendition of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay is EPIC.
Luv home free. If your interested , austin brown the high tenor up front and rob lundquist the tener in the back (with beard and glasses) released a cover of “nessun dorma”
They are very talented and well trained Tim is the base 5 octave range. Austin the other main singer and Rob the singer on the left with glasses both have musical degrees Austin in musical theatre, and Rob as an Opera singer very good tenor but changed over to country and arcipello after graduating.
It’s a great selection for a first Home Free experience, and of course it fits the season. It’s a rendition I’m listening to a lot for the holiday. Guy who took the first verse is a bass, and is well renowned for his five-octave range and ability to hit notes up in tenor in addition to his very low bass range. Other tunes by them will showcase his major depth. Second verse was sung by their former high tenor, who has departed to be a family man. For me this is the top a cappella group, and my #1 fave. I consider this one of their most heartfelt renditions, packed with stunning spiritual feeling.
How nice to find you. I’m such a big fan of HomeFree and Faouzia, I’m always on the hunt for reactions. Thanks you for sharing your song at the end. Happy Christmas.
You can't go wrong with home free. They are such a phenomenal group. My favorite rendition of this song is by David Phelps. If you get a chance and you haven't already you should check out his version of this song. Watch the video of him with the green sweater.
HF's background vocals are always amazing and constantly changing to keep the sound 'alive'. They are masters of the ooh, aah, and mmm. Austin (the second lead) was trained in musical theater. Go fall down the HF rabbit hole, we will welcome you with open arms.
Caution: Home Free is highly addictive. They're all vocal chameleons who sing (and 3 of them write) in almost every genre. There are lots of originals as well as covers both on the band's channel, fan's channels and their individual channel(s). Tim Foust is from Texas; Austin Brown -south Georgia; the others are from Minnesota. Both Austin & Rob Lundquist (glasses) are classically trained. Austin Brown has just released a video (on his channel) for a rendition of "Defying Gravity" that's terrific! Dive down the rabbit hole!
HOME FREE!! NICE!! These guys are great.. and I hadn't heard this one yet and it's one of my favorite holiday songs.. I love the way they shoot their videos.. the zooming in and out as a compliment to their vocals. But this video had it all.. Nikoletta has now found Home Free.. we git a brief Harry mack from her singing about what she had just seen 😊 then a beautiful performance by Nikoletta.. she has great Christmas music here on this channel. I encourage everyone to check them out. Definitely will have her songs playing at the house on the big day. Thanks for a great reaction.. love how excited Nikoletta gets when she finds something she likes.. you can see the joy on her face. So thanks for sharing part of yourself with us in these videos and for sharing your own artistry at the end with your version. That was wonderful. Truly thank you for that reaction video.. the whole video was just wonderful. Thank you.
Nikoletta, what a stunning voice. You are going to have a blast following Home Free, their talent is pretty obvious even after just one of their videos. Please check their latest, Santa Claus is coming to town. With Santa Clause you'll get to see their comedic side !!! They never take themselves too seriously !!
Tim Foust, the 1st to start out, is the Bass of the group….BUT …. He has a 5+ Octave Range….he’s just AMAZINGLY TALENTED ( oh, & talks Bass🙃😵💫) He also writes music, has been writing since a teen. He also has a Great sense of humor 😂🙃‼️💕 Their concerts are Soooo Fun 💕♥️💕‼️🙃 (He releases his Dragon‼️😵💫🙃😂…shocks a lot who don’t what this guy can do ‼️).
Just so you know, even though they are mainly a country group, Rob was Classically trained. Rob and Adam sang an opera song made famous by Pavarotti "Nessen Dorma".
The Big 3 - Pentatonix, Voiceplay, Home Free. Can't wait to see what you dive into. Funny thing, I posted earlier this morning in my work chat that today (12/20/24) is Home Free Fry-day. Haha.
Definitely! I think she would love Pentatonix! So much more to explore with Home Free too.. I'll have to check out voice play.. have not heard them before.. Naturally 7 goes back a ways.. but I'd say they are similar and had some good stuff back in the day.
@@SamSnips Michael puts on a very good show. But the last concert I saw was HomeFree, last week. HomeFree plays smaller venues but the audience is more engaged so it’s a bit more fun. Check their “Sea Shanty Medley Live” from September 2023.
Beautiful reaction and your rendition was spectacular ❤ can’t wait too hear more Home Free reactions there amazing. Hope you check out Do You Hear What I Hear.
I love this version by HF... but as a classically trained singer, you should check out the version by David Phelps when he was with the Gaithers. He is a phenomenal tenor who studied vocal performance at Baylor University and whose career has primarily been as a Christian singer. Look for the version where he's wearing a green sweater... any version is wonderful, but that is a live performance at the historic Alabama Theater. And the Holy Spirit was present. I've never been so moved.
good review! jusy FYI, the first solost is their bass! and they are so much more than a "country a capella" group. Their very large catalog spans multiple genres. and almost everything is just wonderful.
I can't wait to see her hear Man of Constant Sorrow. And of course a number of others. Particularly Nessun Dorma. Edit: Holy moly, Nikoletta! I would have expected you to be pretty good, but you just brought tears to my eyes simply because that was so beautiful.

Thank you for reacting to Home Free Nikoletta 🙏 and this song is great for the Christmas season, but this is an old performance of theirs and does not do justice to the amazing vocal talents of the singers and incredible talent of the beatboxer. They just released a cover of You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch that shows Tim's low range instead of his upper register like in this song. Helplessly Hoping, Man Of Constant Sorrow, Ring Of Fire (feat. That was beautiful! Thank you for sharing your voice. 😊 I believe that you would really enjoy from Home Free.....Do You Hear What I Hear. I would like to know what your reaction will be.
There is no GROUP OF SINGERS this great individually and especially in HARMONIC confluence ...... the group has lost Chris several years ago from this ensemble - Chance took the Baritone he vacated, Austin - high tenor and second lead singer herein .... now gone this past summer ... a Fellow name Basteine - not sure is a good High Tenor ..... still a great A Capella group !
