Brilliant and massively helpfull, just had a d40 with a yd25 in with low power issues (among others) using this method proved that timing was out by aprox. 30 degrees.

Im sorry, but im confused. Rather than looking cycle length, shouldent you be comparing phase displacement (slippage)?

Is it necessary to disconnect the VVT ?

I think i have just worked it out..as the old and the new waveforms use the same reference point. New slippage and old slippage can be compared. The difference must be chain stetch.. but which chain?

Great video!. Just bought a 2008 d40...could you list the parts needed app, scope etc.and where to find online
Also im assuming you are looking for phase delay, in other words, how far the cam shaft has drifted benind the crankshaft compared to new
Also i like in thailand could i use your new 2009 reference figures
There are two timing, one simplex and one duplex.. Does ur method check the total slippqge or for just one chain

If the crankshaft and camshaft (either old or new) have different cycle lengths it must mean that they are running at different speeds, how can that be.
