  • Hello Guys,
in this episode I'm working on my Navara D40 where I started to strip everything on the engine bay in order to do the duplex timing chain conversion. with this upgrade I intend to protect the engine for the well known issue on the standard single row chain that the D40's face.
    Cheers

Advise friend if your removing of the oil pump also works for np300 4x4.manual says you have to remove lower and upper sump first.

hi, I'm sorry I have too much questions 😂😂:
First: If I want to go from simplex timing chain to duplex do I have to pull out the camshaft gears? And if I stay with a simplex do I still need to do so? And to do that I think I need to pull out the camshaft cover am I right?
Second: to pull out the crankshaft pulley you strapped it. Is it because engaging de first gear isn't enough?

Hi Man sorry for my late reply. 1st: no you dont have to, only the cranckshaft gear. If you stay simplex no need too., only if theres excessive wear on the gears.
2nd: yes the puller that i used wasnt that great

THanks man. I think you can manage it, if you ever opened a motorbike engine will be easy. you can follow the repair manual too, will help a lot with the sequences and so. Was my 1st time doing it and i did right. Good Luck

Nice work. Did you change the camshaft sprockets as well? They have to be worn... and put a new chain to worn sprockets feels like bad idea to me.
How did you slacken them? There is no point for locking them, right?
    Jan.

Hi Jan. For the sprockets you have to remove the valve cover and you can lock them on the cams with a 19 wrench and remove the front bolt. the kit came with new sprockets also
