  • This is a 12V rotary hammer drill, that I restored last year. I gave this tool to my cousin for testing, as the result it doesn't pass the test. It is weak and runs out of battery quickly. Now I decided to upgrade it into 18V rotary hammer drill. I really satisfy with the result after upgrading.
    I hope you find this video useful and enjoy it!
    Furthermore, I am happy to receive feedback, suggestions to improve myself.
    !!! I'm sorry for the mistake if I did in this video !!!
    Thank you very much for choosing to watch my video!
    Have a nice day

    When converting from 12v to 18v I find the weak link is always the trigger. The speed control is often closely matched to the voltage so converting to 18v needs an 18v trigger. But it looked like it was working great with the new motor.

    • @aserta
      @aserta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. I don't even bother with the existing stuff and just order a replacement 18(or higher)v that fits the bill. With a little bit of 3d print, you get around the mismatch pretty easily.

    • @gear_show

      The switch is 12V 10A. I'm thinking about it too, but finally It works very well.

      @@gear_show A decent hammer drill is in the range of 720-800W+ driver losses ~ 20% so 1.2X = 860-1000W. A compact decent model has 500-560W x 1.2 = 600-672W. 672/18 = 37.33 A. Makita 5Ah is good up to 40-46A. 35A @ 18V ( 20.5 full) would be good enough. Sure there is no space for a brushed 560W motor but 3A@18V is crap. DDF 453 has a 230W brushed motor, less then half of that, but still wey better then 3A. I think the motor is longer then the one used for 6260/6270D/6280/6271/6281/BDF343/DDF343, but wey more powerfull.

    @sebastiannielsen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice, but I saw you did only press fit that axle adapter on there. Seemed to be a pretty weak press fit too. I would suggest drilling a small hole through the center of it, and hammering in a pin through, so the axle doesn't start rotating inside the adapter when it loses its grip due to wear and tear. Another way is to drill a hole, tap it and then use a setscrew to lock the axle to the adapter. In that case, I would suggest drilling a small dent in the motor axle to inprove the setscrew lock.

If held at the right angle you can cut slightly into the bolt. Then turn the air hammer to where it will hammer the stuck bolt to unspin the bolt. Given a little practice it works great. This air hammer gives you the control needed to get the job done right. Very powerful yet still does not seem to have as much vibration as other guns I have used. One of the best I have gotten my hands on.

      I will try to answer you in case he does not. It has been a while since i studied motor theory 1. The thicker the wire the more current the motor will handle and the more powerful the motor will be. 2.The number of windings is related to the voltage being supplied by the battery. As I said it has been a while.
