Hitting in the balls, altering the joints and chopping throat/eyes are three forbidden moves in martial arts. Normally when martial arts masters practicing or fighting they would not use them because martial arts are not killing people without proper reasons.
And Donnie Yen is also a Wing Chun master irl too. He was trained by Ip Man’s son.
He's not a master. He trained for 9 months, although Ip man's son said he was amazed at how quickly Donnie Yen picked it up.
At this point, ip man was old and suffer a cancer at the same time, that is why he is not as strong as he used to be, if this guys fight with the younger ip man, he won't even last a second

That "weird thing" he was doing at the beginning was a leg stretch. He fights using primarily kicks.
A bit of background here.
In this fight Ip Man has a broken (or healing from being broken) arm. The injury occurs earlier in the film. That’s that weird thing he does with his arm where he withdraws it as his intercepting fist and moves the other hand forward. He’s trying to cover his injury because it’s hurting. Geddes capitalized on that and attacked that side relentlessly, whereas the other fellow martial artist he spars before this notices his injury and they both switch to a one-handed fight.
Also in this movie, Ip Man is pushing like 60 or 70 years old and is also dying of cancer. He’s not nearly at his best in term of fighting ability in this movie.
One thing I don't understand, seems like the director try to direct us to believe that many people is state is racist & greedy during that time....I believe the director himself also a bigot himself....

@@ebonyroundass bear in mind the time and country this movie is set in. Earlier in the movie you see people of colour segregated on the bus.
Wrong, his simultaneous leg kicks that geddes does vibrates his arm and ip blocks it with his elbow. This kicks still hurt tremendously and he covers it by switching stance, similarly to when giddes gets an eye attack from ip. He changes stances from left to right to cover his now weakened spot. Fighters do this in mma and all factions of fighting.
@@davet4288 Perhaps that's also true, but there WAS a previous injury there. And a recent one. So that added to the effect of it.
In this movie Ip Man was old and dying of cancer. That’s why he took a lot of hits. Had he been in his prime, he would’ve stood a much better chance
The fight and music was awesome.
It’s called stretching that your thinking weird, it’s to release the tension of each muscles before going into the fight, its also to reduce injuries.
