    Wurkkos TD02 Video Transcript:
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • This is Wurkkos' answer to a small tactical-style flashlight - it reminds me a lot of the Wuben C3 or Speras EST. I like how small and easy it is to carry around. There was some controversy around this light initially when the designs were shared on Facebook, some thought they shared similarities with Weltool/Olight designs. Having a closer look myself, I can see some influences on the head, knurling but that's where the similarities end.
    • Comparisons with other similar lights: Convoy S2+, Wurkkos FC12, Wuben LD50
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel, and reflector
    • Construction is great, especially for a lower-priced flashlight. The threads are square cut and smooth, and the body is machined nicely with no imperfections. Grippy knurling. Tailcap is recessed and will tail stand. Single switch.
    • Interesting that Wurkkos has opted for the SST40 instead of the SFT40 that is seen in the FC12. But the SST40 produces more light. It sits behind a TIR lens.
    • Bezel is simple, smooth, and unscrewable. The lens is recessed slightly.
    • Comes with an 18650 button top cell, everything you need.
    UI - modes
    • Very simple, reminds me of the Convoy UI. 5 brightness modes. Accessible through half-press. Double tap for strobe.
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • CCT, CRI, Ceiling bounce test
    • The beam is a pure white color on higher modes, reasonably floody with excellent throw, considering the size of the lens.
    Considerations
    • Would have been nicer with an SFT40 in there for an increased range.
    • No momentary turbo mode. The 1 sec memory mode is decent though, so you can still access turbo quickly.
    • Very slight pause when switching the light on. I noticed something similar on the Sofirn SC32. Not a big deal.
    • Plastic TIR lens.
    Verdict
The TD02 is an affordable, well-built flashlight with excellent performance, considering its size. It's not really a tactical flashlight but it certainly comes close. I'd consider it a tactical-style EDC. For a beginner, you get everything you need in the box, along with a simple UI. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a great all-rounder EDC that won't break the bank.

Upon receiving the TD02, my first impulse was to return it as my highly anticipated FC12 arrived together with this flashlight. It doesn't have a beacon or SOS flasher or a separate Eco/Moonlight mode and I've also gotten too accustomed to Wurkkos/Sofirn lights that would "Turbo" upon issuing multiple consecutive button clicks.
Turns out that it uses a single cycle-thru mode somewhat like my Convoy M1. After a week of owning the TD02, I think it's a very nice short body 18650 and only my Sofirn SC31 Pro is shorter still, due to its lack of a tail switch. The TD02's tail switch also has a short action (unlike the FC12) and it's very comfortable to grip and operate in one hand. I can use either my index finger or thumb over the tail switch
Personally speaking, I wouldn't visualise using this as a long range outdoor searchlight, but it's something that I would keep in the glove compartment of my cars, under my pillow and in my desk drawer.
The delay in turning on the light is probably due to its driver's electronics. It's almost like the switch activates an electronic relay, unlike the literally instant mechanical switches of the TD04/SP35T/FC12. The TD02 is a good compact light - I'll keep mine all the same. 😀
    Darren, how would the TD02 fare against similar 18650 EDCs like the TD05 (a.k.a Aplos T02), WK03, FC11C and Sofirn's SP31T, SP31V3 and SC32? 🙂

Hi mate, the of all those torches you listed, my favs are the FC11C (with a buck driver) and the SP31T with ability to activate momentary turbo. I try to look for budget lights with extra value and they others are decent but with your current collection will get bored of very soon!

Looks like the FC11C and the SP31T are in my sights, mate. For me, it's a toss between the SP31T and the SP31V3; don't need both as they're very similar to one another. 😀 Tail switch lights are more intuitive but I'm fairly comfortable with side switches or having both. Anduril or simple UI: I have a preference for Anduril but I can easily adapt to simple UI torches like the TD02.
Self defence: I learned to prep my lights for one-click turbo and two clicks at the most (for Anduril torches). I now know why you program your Convoy 12-groupers to Group #3, which always start at 100% output.
I think the flashlight marketing industry has long misused the "tactical" terminology and that word has long become overrated. Disorienting a human attacker by temporarily blinding them won't work in bright conditions and dazzling them for more than 10 seconds will only infuriate the perpetrator. They'll still come at you with their hands shielding their eyes, unless one is prepared to follow up with say, pepper spray and run to safety. Better still if one has the martial arts skills of Steven Seagal or the fictional assassin Jason Bourne. 😁
Against stray dogs or perhaps a charging brown bear or a mama elephant in the dark, a powerful flashlight and strobe could be useful to buy some time before fleeing. At least animals don't press charges in court for "damages to their vision". 😂
Today, more than half the LED flashlights sold on Aliexpress and Amazon are advertised as "tactical". What makes a torch "tactical" also depends on who you're asking.
You know, mate ...back in the old days, a tactical flashlight was something that needed 5 D sized alkaline cells in series and doubled as a blunt force weapon. And also says "MAG-LITE" on the reflector head. 🙂 🔦➕🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋

great vid mate. Do agree its very similar to the sc18's beam. UI's left me a bit baffled, can't quite put a finger on what kinda lifestyle this light was designed for. Wild that this has no momentary

I just bought another Acebeam Rider RX on 40% off offer for the same price as this TD02. Often smaller lights are as or more expensive than larger more powerful models but I already have the SC18 and the SC32 who's beam I prefer for more general use so maybe I wasn't so dumb to go for another small AA pocket Rider light, mainly as I hate that the Pokelit has such stupid power levels but I like the 219F flood in both. I also just got my 5k SC33 and it's good. The Rider on Turbo is the same as the SC33 on med with high1, high2 and turbo or whatever they are called still to go but obviously a big size and weight difference. I think I sort of prefer the SC18 over the TD02 as it is more compact without the tail switch but otherwise I do prefer tail switches most, like the SC32&33 & RIder etc and so do see the attraction in this TD02 and I imagine it will be pretty popular but I have to resist just buying more lights for the heck of it though it is tough with so many nice choices.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Whoa that's a great deal for the Rider RX. I like that this one has a tailswitch though I think they could have improved the throw more by just using a normal SMO reflector. The beam looks nicer with TIR though as those small throwy reflectors create a ringy beam :/

I have one arriving today. It was on sale at Amazon for 18 dollars, and i couldn't pass that up. I have the FC12 also & and I'll take its tailcap for momentary on capabilities.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Oh yeah, was gonna suggest the FC12 first but $18 is a great deal. There is also the TD03 and TD04 - that one looks promising too.

@@DarrenYeoYT I have the TD03. The only minor issue I have with it is a magnetic field will turn the flashlight on in Turbo, or your first setting. Admittedly the magnet has to be close to the tailcap. Other than that, I like the rotary switch. It's kind of fidgety for me as I find myself messing with it often.

Weird light, looks so tactical, but lacks tactical function. The host is honestly very attractive, but I wouldn't buy it. Put an SFT40 in it at make it have instant access to turbo and it would be a hit.

@@DarrenYeoYT at least with the Convoy lights you could program them to start at 100% if you want. I always pick group 3 for my throwers so they start at 100% and then I half click to bring the brightness down.
