X and Y are great for a nice casual experience. The variety of Pokemon in the route is massive, you can easily make two or more different full teams before the second gym I just wish it had an actual postgame, and yeah lolsandre is like, he exists?
Gen 6 was a nice step up with regards to 2D to 3D, but boy do people forget that sometimes when we talk about 3D Pokemon. It's not as bad as people made it out to be, and honestly? I'd play this more than Scarlet & Violet any day of the week.
@@sengan2475 pokemon games are all easy why do you think nuzlocke is so popular? the 3d models look very good for the time the games came out obv you cant expect 2024 graphics from a 2013 game 11 years is a huge difference in quality for games and even then it still looks decent and not many ppl aside from the wiki really paid much attention to the pokemon story
I think that has more to do with how dogshit S/V is and not how good XY was if im being honest. With GameFreak constantly making worse games Gen 9 will be revered as peak pokemon
While I still think ORAS carries Gen 6. Even after recently replaying Y. I still don't care for X & Y as much. I appreciate what they tried to with these games though. And what they introduced to the series Funny enough, they're still my most played games in the series with over 600 hours clocked in I'll always see X & Y as the second coming of Pokemania. Pokemon moving to 3D was huge. The marketing they did for this game was superb. You really had to be there to understand how real the hype for these games were
I had a similar experience recently with Pokémon Y. I picked it up at a retro game store after not playing it since it came out in 2013. I had negative feelings towards Gen 6 and think it was the start of Pokémon’s downfall. I played through it expecting it to be mediocre, but I actually had a good time with it. I don’t think it’s nearly as good as the DS Pokémon games, but it’s a pretty good game. I also feel that the towns other than Lumiose city are pretty boring though and it’s not as memorable as previous pokemon games
I do feel like X and Y were the start of the downfall of Pokémon but they weren't bad games. I actually didn't enjoy B&W and initially skipped BW2 because I thought I had outgrown Pokémon at that point but a friend convinced me to pick up X and it brought back my love for the franchise I think part of the reason it gets so much hate is because ORAS were some of the best games of the franchise so it pales in comparison. Also, a lot of the features it introduced eventually led to the dumbing down of the series that really peaked in gens 7 and 8. I feel like SV are a step in the right direction, and hopefully, ZA and Gen 10 bring the franchise back to at least gen 6 levels of greatness
A detail alot of people don't consider when criticizing X&Y or lamenting the "rocky transition" to 3D...gamefreak had to develop both things at once. They had to make new animations for all existing pokemon up to that point, on top of new pokemon they made specifically for 3d, on top of learning 3d in general, on top of creating a whole new region with entirely new ideas. While none of this is an _excuse_ perse, is it really all that surprising how few pokemon there are? How lopsided and half baked everything is, including the very foundation gamefreak would use for years to come? Compare this to sun and moon, which for all it's flaws, hardly looks like it was on the same system.
I feel like complaints about XY being too easy and not having a HGSS post game is silly because in my eyes they seem intended to be a soft reboot/back-to-the-basics moment for Pokemon. They kinda already do this for the first installments of each gen which isn’t necessarily a bad thing especially for newer fans or returning fans who haven’t played in a while. It’s like welcome to your first day type of thing. Also considering that it was the first 3D mainline game alongside most older fans dipping out during Late Gen 4-Early Gen 5 so designing X and Y in that way makes sense. The target audience for the 3D era in general was clearly for newer/younger players hence why Pokemon had another pokemania moment. To me X and Y at its core was fresh start and conveyed the beauty in simplicity so while they aren’t the best games, they aren’t terrible either. Very solid and effective entries.
X and Y suffer the most from people calling them too easy because the online community loves to break every one of games over their knees until they pose no challenge anymore (heck I'm guilty of this). Looking into fights like Rival battles or Gym leader fights online it gets worse since they are littered with incomplete movesets and teams, but they can still catch you off guard if you dismiss everything. The thing that sticks out the most about X and Y is the sheer positivity everyone had about the series when they were the new generation. Shiny hunting and competitive battling really took off and that's what I choose to remember about these games. It's rather fitting that the region closest associated with beauty probably was the time where unfiltered optimism ran throughout the franchise.
It's good, but not great. There's some stuff you can criticise like the difficulty, story and missing content like the Zygarde stuff or whatever the Anistar sundial stuff. But I enjoyed the new ideas it brought to the stable like mega evolution, PSS, super training, trainer customisation, wonder trade, etc. Kalos just has an overall great atmosphere and identity to it and Lumiose City is proabably my favourite location in the entire series. Gen 6 is a transitional game like Gen 4 where the laid the groundwork for the next generation on the same console to be really outstanding. XY is like the Pokemon equivalent to Sonic Adventure where it's the 1st big 3D game in the series and while you can see the parts where it lacks polish, it's an enjoyable game either way.
I believe gen six was undercooked with it's theme of beauty not being too important in the story. I don't wanna go political but the perfume palace was the only real place they showed a divide between the normal people and the rich. And their view on beauty.
I just finished replaying XY. I spend about 130hrs completing the living regional dex and grinding for shinys(didn't find any wtf) I still think they're the weakest in the series. A little more time in development for a proper post game, and Megas for ONLY Kalos mon is all they really needed to make them great
@@koxame you'll need both versions and 2 3ds systems to complete the kalos dex, and you'll need ORAS and a lot of time as well to complete the National dex. Pretty sure you should be able to get everything with those 4 games, but you'll have to grind mirage spots every day
I remember liking these games for most of my playthrough, but once i beat the champion and saw the post game content i was super disappointed. This game almost feels like a soft reboot to the franchies in the worst way possible. It has the absolute bare minimum in terms of content. I was really hoping for a Z version, but i guess this had to be the first pokemon to not get an enhanced version (or sequel)
I feel like the reason I was so harsh on this game when this first released was because we just came from BW2, and this is a huge step down from those games. But since the newer games came out I appreciate this game more than I did. Does this mean they are great? Not but they are good, but I will be it incomplete. Hoping ZA fixes Kalos but yeah. This game is definitely no longer my least favorite Pokemon game after SWSH lol. That game was truly a travesty. But yeah good video. ❤
In gen 6 we get after years two very importand thing we all weait for exp.share for all team members so you now can train a whole team of 6 and we get no hm slaves but still game got many problems no option for level cap. Is making this game even easier , trainers and gym leaders is s*it most of the time the got or bad pokemon otr like 1/2 or 3 moves on polemn like wtf ? Game got potential but gamefreak was leazy to leazy to think how make better game and yes with gen 6 starts the downfall of pokemon games and this what we see today is exatly how they see they games as simple brinwashed chiild game with bad well witha almoust everthing bad.
The jump from 2D to 3D butchered the franchise. XY are dull and have no postgame. The only good thing about gen 6 are megas and competitive. The games themselves are trash. Gen 6 definitively ends the golden era
