    Dear Hassan, it’s beyond naach gaana for us Indians. As a Bharatnatyam ( one of our many classical dances) dancer myself, young kids in India learn dance for years. It doesn’t come easy needs a lot of discipline and conviction. It is a form of showing devotion for many... similar like praying to god. Every kid particularly in the south where I am from are put in some form of art classes since childhood.

      Not to draw comparisons or anything but looking down upon dancing is a very Pakistani mindset unfortunately. People keep saying we are similar culturally but sometimes I just don’t see it. I have never seen a Pakistani classical dancer not even kathak

    Aamna I beg to differ. All the art and dance that you see in India is culture which is an amalgamation of multiple cultural/religious influences and not just one specific religion. The issue with Pakistan is the denial of a pre-Islamic identity which forces the society to be only about a certain religion. Arabs didn't stop being Arabs just because they embraced Islam. Pakistanis on the other hand are just Pakistanis with a history dating back only to 1947 which is untrue and heartbreaking.

      It is not just with Pakistanies, I saw many Indians denying the history of Pakistan pre patrician, no matter how absurd it sounds, but many people based their arguments on this fact that Pakistan was created in 47 so Pakistanies have no history before it neither they have any right to claim it. But I underdog Pakistanies themselves embrace it the world will not too

      @erumahmad3676 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ikan, respectfully, i would want to explain that Pakistanis do not deny our history before 47. Our religion gives us an extremely different way of life and mindset. So embracing pre conversion, pre mughals history will not be possible.

    Music and dance are an integral part of our culture in India. We feel pride in these artistic expressions. It is beyond ‘naach gaana’ as repeatedly mentioned by Hassan. Artistes spend their life in pursuit of excellence. It is part of our heritage and classical, folk, devotional and other performing arts are a medium for spiritual growth. Aamna with her strong artistic sensibilities rightly appreciated the musical production though.

      The traditional performing arts are not mere entertainment but are enlightening and enriching as there is a system of learning and assimilation involved. In that context the term ‘naach gaana’ is out of place as the musical was replete with solid performances not frivolous dances. We don’t expect everyone to understand culture, tradition and aesthetics as it requires an evolved thought process.

For us dance as well as music is very important we sing bhajans while offering prayer and learning Indian dance form is very difficult it takes years and years just to master a specific dance form we do Saraswati Vandana before aur Sangeet kala pradarshan and we also take blessing of natraj before nritya kala pradarshan so plzz it not just singing and dancing. Thanks to both of you for discussing about NMACC and DIOR show. It indeed was spectacular. I think the reason that this works primarily in India coz firstly we benefit from being a multi religion country so at the end of the day; everyone works collectively towards progress. And this I can say apart from all the political issues and stuff; people on the whole are united towards betterment. Plus, Bollywood of course is another huge reason.
    But having said that we all literally look forward to awesome seasons of Coke Studio. I think we still lack a little there. So yeah please promote your Coke studio, qawallis and music on the whole.

    Ramzan dramas: I live in a hostel at NUST and spending ramzan here. We have so many funny stories and various experiences everyday and whenever you guys talk about bringing a new concept to ramzan dramas I feel like they can write something about hostel students spending ramzan away from home and having funny experiences.
    It can also be a series like friends where each episode has a slightly different story despite having the same characters. I feel like it would be a fresh idea.

Wanted to give you both a shout out for being so authentic during your reviews, which come straight from your heart and are mostly on point (some places I do not agree with you.) You are refreshing to watch and super entertaining, I just love your banter and witty and sarcastic exchanges. I used to watch dhoop chaon with my mom when I was a kid, there was also a show called Kinara (or Kainare) and so many more, I was hooked as a child. In those days we did not need cable as in Jammu our Antennae would telecast the shows directly to our TVs, that is also the reason I loved the show Tanha which was a collaboration between India and Pakistan. I have clearly digressed but I just love you both and wish you nothing but the best...Will continue to watch you both and enjoy your reviews.

    Dear Aamna, I don’t know if you’ll be reading this but if you do, I appreciate that you know a few things about how our religion (Hinduism) connects us to our culture and why arts are an important part.
    There’s a word called “Natya-Shastra” depicting art, music, dance, act and more, once all this comes together is when it’s a true performance. Which is called Natyashastra, it’s an integral part of our religion. Our gods danced (Shiva & Parvati) played music (Krishna) Sung (Saraswati) and were all doing it as a meditation.
    In India, you can visit different states and people have their folk dances, I’m sure it’s the same in Pakistan. But when it comes to Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odisi - these dances were more of surrendering to the gods and doing prayers in our own way. I’m a classical dancer (Bharatnatyam) and trained for over 15 years, we have to do our pooja before starting any performances and all of the songs are the song of the gods.
    Only when the Mughals invaded the country were these arts used as a way to entertain the kings/courts. But still they are used in a very charming, sophisticated and beautiful way.
    Thank you for being so sensitive, respectful and observant. 🕊️

    Hi Hassan and Aamna. Just to add to your discussion on why Chupke Chupke may have been more attractive than Chand Tara could be that we like to see the whole format of how two people fall in love and get together after many hardships. I feel like that may be more attractive to people, or specifically to me, to see two people fall in love rather than them being in love already and what happens after. What do you think?
    Also, its popular opinion to think that the series of Ramadan dramas started with Suno Chanda. Actually, I have grown up to Ramadan dramas like 'Chaand pe Dastak' and 'Roza ke Rozey'; they had a bit of romance, a bit of family values, and were also related to Ramadan. The concept is new and maybe some don't like to be reminded of basic ethics & moral values, so might not watch it. I agree with Amna. We have completely forgone our culture. religion and culture are two sperate things, Pakistan is finishing it's culture, whether it is language or festivals like basant. We are either running after Saudia and being Al Bakistani or Turkistani.
