Gangs of Wasseypur & Mirzapur are not in Punjabi space Aamna, that is an entirely different dialect belt.
These movies and series have characters and stories based in UP (Uttar Pradesh). Udta Punjab (movie) and Korra (TV Series) are examples which have strong characters and storylines based in Punjab-the gun violence, drug problems, dialect etc.

LSAs didn't nominate Savera Nadeem for Wehem, Nadia Afgan for Dushman but Hania for Mere Humsafar in critics category. How pathetic.... she just wept in all the episodes.
In TV Writer category, Umera Ahmad is nominated for her whitewashed script with some problematic dialogues while Saima Akram Chaudhry is not for her naunced, balanced and meaningful script.

1)I don't think Animal is inspired from Maula jatt because of Sandeep Reddy Wanga and most of the Southern Part of India's movies are same like that. Sandeep reddy wanga is a telugu movie director. He made movie called "Kabir Singh" which is remake of telugu blockbuster film "Arjun Reddy" starring Vijay Deverkonda and Rashmika Mandana.
    2) You should watch his interview with anupama chopra. She asked him "Kabir Singh is violent and it promotes " Patriarchy ". In answer to her he told" You labelled Kabir singh as violent film, Now I will show what is the violent film and that film will be Animal".
3)Sandeep Reddy Wanga next directorial movie is "Spirit" starring Prabhas.
4)All language cinema industries are uniting and making Cinema as Indian cinema and representing on global level and recently Malayalam movie "2018" is selected as India's official entry for Oscars 2024.

In India, There are 28 states and all of them have different cinema industry as well as drama serial industries with different languages which is working properly as same as Bollywood, Therefore we Indians are unable to watch every language movies as there are more than 1000-1500 movies releasing in cinemas every year which gives near about $1.2-1.7 billion theatrical buisness every year plus Direct OTT releases movies and web series are different which not even releases on cinemas....

RRR, KGF, Bahubali are typical Mass movies which are meant to satisfy the Big Screen experiences. And all these movies were released in several languages at the same time. So I would say that it should not be considered as examples of the movies from South but rather movies made by the creators from south. In South India, there are five states and movies are made mainly in 4 different languages - Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu. The basic character and style of movies also varies across the languages and states. Telugu films are in general very much similar to RRR, Bahubali which have more over-the-top action sequences. Malayalam films are more story and performance-oriented. In the Tamil film industry, we see complete commercial movies as well as raw- political- parallel movies. Kannada movies are generally rooted in the Kannada culture. About the Punjabi films, I think it's mainly because of the budget constraints and the lack of market.

20:32 As some one who has seen a quite few South Indian films, I would like to say here, that not all films from there are violent. The one thing that almost all of them have is a solid, intelligent story line. They are ALL written with a proper plot in mind. I feel like the more serious directors get gory with the action scenes and the more glamour oriented directors make them larger than life. However, I have yet to see a South Indian film where there is a pointless gory/violent scene.
I feel like the reason their films are doing so much better is because their scripts are WAAAYYYY better than the nonsense that mainstream Bollywood comes up with.
Hence I believe that the question that you’re asking about the “aggression” or “violence” in these films, is very very generalised.

The thing is most of the ppl here say that since we r paying money for ticket we need to see something on big screen which isn't possible to do in real live and this is how these sction films cult has started in south India but these are the commercial films leaving them back , every year many other movies get released which aren't for these type of audience but even they make good mints in the box office. Bar is an official exam administered by the bar association or the recognised judicial organisation of the land. You can do your LLB from any law school (Harvard, Yale, Stanford or Princeton or any non Ivy League law school in the country) but bar exam is completely different. It’s sort of like a certification that allows you to get the legal license to practice law as an attorney. Any one can have a law degree but only those who clear the bar exam can practice or qualify to practice it.

South India has many regions - Tamil. Telugu. Kannada. Malayali. Kerala (Malayali) has almost 100% literacy not whole of South India. Telugu cinema is largely extremely massy and violent and on the nose. Tamil cinema has a mix of both. where Mani Ratman and Thalapathy films coexist. Malayali cinema is more rooted and story driven. The Gippy Grewal and Diljit Dosanjh (most of) movies are regional films. Bollywood films are a different beast but yes leaning more towards the South now for event films these days - fortunately or unfortunately.

Hence, romantic comedy movies and family drama is the only genre that is successful. On the other hand, our audience for traditional Punjabi movies has been men who go watch movies in single screen cinemas and violence is appealing to them.

South Indian cinema: You are very much correct in pointing out the violence aspect in South Indian cinemas, Hassan. You see South India has 5 states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are Telugu speaking, Karnataka is Kannada speaking, Tamil nadu is Tamil speaking and Kerala is Malayalam speaking states. Tamil, Telugu and Kannada audience although extremely educated have immense caste feeling, the viewers tend to support the superstars who belong to their caste or rather treat their stars as God's (Nauzbillah) and the movies are mostly made to appeal the masses, the female leads are usually just to add an oomph factor and dont have a significant role in the movies and most movies involve violence, aggression etc. That being said they also make love stories and female lead movies but they aren't as popular nationwide. Bahubali actually put the south indian cinema on a pedestal unlike any other film ever. Infact TBH, before that, most Bollywood lovers made fun of south indian films and watched them only to roast them lol. Some south indians states like Tamil nadu will have to announce a holiday on the day of the release of Rajnikath movies because people wont turn up to work on those days😅
Malayalam movies on the other hand are very socially responsible movies and have amazing story line, direction and cinematography, if anyone ever wants to venture in Malayalam movies, they can easily watch any movie starring Fahad Fasil and they will enjoy it.
Since the untimely death of Sushant singh Rajput, most Bollywood films seemed to have been falling flat and didn't impress audiences much, they tried casting south indian actors like Vijay Deverakonda (Arjun reddy and Liger fame) in their movies and remade famous south indian movies, case in point kabir singh (remake of a hit telugu movie Arjun reddy). They are doing that to make movies in multiple languages and release them all over south india and for the very caste following audiences will only watch them if they include a south india actor or actress, like Animal stars Rashmika Mandanna, a south indian cinema sweet heart. The makers of Pushpa and RRR also did the same thing.
Basically they are all now depending on each other for success, earlier it was tough for any south indian actor, director, singer to get fame in Bollywood, but now they have become co dependent and all of them are benefitted by it. Sandeep reddy Vanga is the director of Arjun reddy, his brother is the producer and when they sold the rights of the movie to remake Kabir singh it was with a condition that his brother Sandeep would direct it, paving his way into Bollywood.
I hope all of this makes sense. With all that being said, we south indians are educated but sort of stuck in the caste feeling and need to come out of it. Let me end my ted talk on this funny note, It is often said that if you throw a stone in any south indian street you will either hit an engineer or a dog, lol, we had a lot of street dogs couple years ago😂😂

This year non of the south Indian movies seemed to have worked in the Hindi heartland whereas Bollywood has given multiple 100cr plus India net movies. So Bollywood not doing well has become a thing of the past. 2022 was an aberration and not the norm.

South Indian cinema is known as mass cinema . Mass means top notch fighting sequels and showing a mighty hero. When you said that South Indian cinema is violent in nature reason is that in southern india people wants to see a movie with regional identity and language . Malyaalam industry makes movies like drishyam lead actor Mohanlal with zero action on the other hand Tamil industry makes movies like Beast lead actor thala vijay is a film filled action . In this the Tamil audiences want to action movies in which hero is shown as massss. Pushpa ,rrr, are Telugu industry movies also like masss cinema . People think that South Indian audience behave same and they want to see same content and that is a misconception as all 5 states have all 5 different languages and all want to see different content in their respective states . For ex Bahubali has least opening in Tamil Nadu and did good in Hindi states . I personally watch Telgu content , movies

Being a South indian myself I must tell u that each state had a very different cinematic essence. Tamil , telegu and kannada film industry is worth billions and most of the hindi movies of the 90's were rip offs or remakes of these movies. Malayalam cinema onnthenother hand is very sensitive but youncant compare the revenues. These movies are.more fantasy whether it's romance or violence. And somehow the violent ones get such mass appeal in the North market that these only get highlighted. I think honestly south indian in general study so much and have very rigorous schedules the world over their cinema has to be fantasy oriented. Believe me there are tuition centers that open from 4am for the engineering exams and all. They work really really hard and have so much family pressure for excellence that this is sometimes the only release. That's why genuine opinion.

#HassanChoudary is a fan of Khans and the Kapoor family, so he credits Ranbir Kapoor. RK is not a bad actor, but Ranveer Singh has his own class. His Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat, Ram Leela, Gully Boy, 83 was a Biopic of Kapil Dev and many more. He can fit from a comic role to any role. The role he played in Bajirao, sorry to say Ranbir Kapoor could never do justice if he had played that role. RK is suitable as a romantic hero.
    * Ranveer Singh is one of the most awarded actors from 2010 as he is the recipient of 78 awards into his credit respectively. In contrast, RK has won 57 awards some of them awards in the beginning years of his career because of being Kapoor's Son. You guys are extremely responsible journalists. He was specifically asked why he doesn’t give interviews anymore and he said everyone is careful now, their words are taken out of context now and made into cringe sound bites and headlines on some media portals so celebs are scared to give interviews now. It was a very candid comment I think not meant to humiliate or target anyone. He said the the ones conducting interviews are NOT at fault, it’s those portals who are simply dissecting their words, hunting for viral content and twist it out of context at the expense of these celebs. I tend to agree with him, I’ve seen many many examples even in the recent past where celebs are literally crucified by these posts. I have never seen such posts on SH, those practicing it should self analyze

As long as I remember, Talha was nominated in the emerging talent category last year but he didn't win. Hadiqa kayani did.

Best Actor should be won by Atif Aslam or Farhan Saeed. So sad they didn't nominate Wahaj for JBG. Best Actress is obviously Yumna Zaidi for Bakhtawar. How come Sajal got nominated for SeA when the submission was for ishq e laa??

Submission is for viewer's choice. She is nominated in critic's choice.

Yes I agree to both of you that they did not do it on purposely it was related to fall of dhaka - the intention for future that no drama should make on this topics - sad but it seems the real truth. I saw sajal khel khel mein - it was great and wahaj - was very great performer on Jo Bichar giye.

As an Indian punjabi I like how hassan observed how Indian Punjabi cinema shows Rom-Com movies and not violent and aggressive movies. But if you listen to our songs (Indian Punjabi songs) you will find a lot of violent and aggressive terms and words used to create hype (p.s- I love Punjabi Songs). I think the Punjabi Cinema here has developed a lot and is still developing and hopefully will reach its heights in future. This genre of Action is being explored currently and there have been a few films in the same genre that have proved that despite the dominance of Rom Com genre Action Movies can also do business. Again i could be wrong but I think that Punjabi Movies do well if its a Family Movie, where the whole family can go and watch it and enjoy together. I think with people being more willing to take risks there will certainly be a Proper Action Movie which will prove this theory wrong.

Wahaj as rumi was spot on he deserved to be nominated and would have 100% won it
