Meh. I actually hated what they showed of the space warfare portion here. Aerotech makes it *explicitly clear* that space combat in the Battletech universe is done under Newtonian physics (IE, the ships shouldn't be pointing the direction they're traveling most of the time, and should have to spin around to reorient the main engines every time they want to maneuver). Battletech space combat should look like space combat in The Expanse, not Star Wars. And the jump-in scene in this trailer had the ships WAAAAAY too close to each other, because they're just simply ignoring the interference range of the KF-drive; you *can't* have ships jumping in and out that close to each other, because the KF drive will cause interference that induces a misjump and destroys the jumpship. IIRC, it's supposed to be *thousands* of kilometers between jump drives to avoid the interference.
@@shepardpolska the warships themselves were lost in the first and second succession wars and the ability to build them was blasted by nukes or stolen by ComStar

Meh. Very little gameplay footage, and what there was, wasn't terribly impressive even compared to earlier gameplay footage in previous MW5:clans promo material. @bronco5334 I get it, MW2 was my first introduction to the setting as well. Out of all the current clans Ghost Bear is my favorite, coming in strong right behind Wolverine. I mean, there are no true good guys in Battletech. The closest you get are mercenary bands just trying to survive and Solaris Jocks. The Chimney Kittens and Green Turkies bug me more than the others.
‘Their never ending wars’ ironic coming from the most extreme warrior culture in the setting
The Clans are nothing if not hypocritical, lol.

These folks didn't just listen to the criticism of MW5 Merc's story being kinda bland, they threw every ounce of talent and lore they could find at it. This is EASILY the most realistic representation of what the clans were supposed to be like I've seen on a screen, well, ever.

...what's funny in retrospect is that Mechwarrior 2 was my introduction to the Battletech universe, and, having no external game of reference, the game actually did a good enough job of making the Turkeys sound reasonable that I actually thought they were Good Guys.
....and I later actually read more about the universe when I started playing the miniatures game, and realized they were basically nazis. Who used the same kind of internal propaganda telling themselves that they were justified in their invasion, as the actual nazis used.
@bronco5334 I get it, MW2 was my first introduction to the setting as well. Out of all the current clans Ghost Bear is my favorite, coming in strong right behind Wolverine. All the trailers for MW5 Clans look like the devs kept everything that worked in Mercenaries, and then just decided to take the clan invasion and make a goddamn movie out of it. If this is as good as it looks to be, and everything I have seen shows that it just might be, this will end up being the best representation of the clans we've ever seen on screen anywhere. It all seems to be there: the fanaticism, the almost alien culture, the brutality, the honor. All of it.
