    My father worked out of the old terminal in Muscle Shoals for Eastern Airlines during the 1950's. I remember the airport had a dog named mother that would meet every Eastern Flight and wait at the bottom of the airplanes stairway for the flight attendant to gives her cookies! I also remember a woman being late for a flight that was already lined up for takeoff, they brought that airplane back to the terminal so she could board. At that time Eastern only flew two engine Martins out of Muscle Shoals, great memories.

    Over the years, artists who recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio included The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, George Michael, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Tamiko Jones, and Cat Stevens. Cher's sixth album was titled 3614 Jackson Highway (1969) and this became the informal name for the studio in 1969

    British ex-pat (I live in Texas for 20 years now), and my wife drives a Chevy Colorado truck. They are pretty classic mid-size trucks. Noel, If you think it was a great BIG truck, you need to drive a dually (with four wheels on the back) with the largest engine you can get. One of those would make the hair grow back on your head. HAHAHAHAHA.

      and what did he say, like 50 bucks for a 1 hour flight ? That's madness ! I gotta pay 50 bucks to drive the train 50km into the city and back, and each trip will be like 50min, am i in bizarro land ?

    • @avgeekinfotainment7776
      @avgeekinfotainment7776 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abalamdepaimon6891 No, you just do the usual mistake: thinking in buck-per-mile (or km), while the maths are done on a bucks-per-time basis. And probably your train is commercially viable on its own, so the rail company is able to call for such fares. A bus or small 2-car DMU to a remote town with an average ridership of 5 per ride isn't viable so it is subsidized by the government to provide basic transport opportunities. Read, you pay only a fraction of the actual price yourself. That's called public service obligation (PSO) and is pretty common with public transport. And in some cases, a small plane is the ideal choice to provide public transport. Like here obviously.

    Interestingly, I flew to Nashville from the Silicon Valley of California (in the San Francisco Bay Area) just two weeks ago and spent a week in the Muscle Shoals area. I had no idea that there was an airport there. By the way, I had a blast visiting Florence, Sheffield and Tuscumbia.

    Beautiful plane, I would love to have a Pilatus one of these days. And what a long drive for someone from way out of town, that had to be one of those "out of your comfort zone" moments.
