    Hi Noel,
    Great video! It was really a pleasure to have you come visit our rural operation, too bad we didn't have any opportunity to talk more. It is always fun to meet people who are interested in aviation and make videos like these for others to watch. I will definitely check out the rest of your content, and like the video!

    Commercial air service to many rural small communities serves many purposes from carrying the mail, to essential freight and package delivery, and, of course, carrying passengers. Thank you for sharing this flight. I found it as interesting, if not more so, as your long-haul flights in business and first class on top ranked airlines. Do more, please!

    Grafair, the name on the VW bus. They service private planes a operate some private planes including. jets and ambulance planes and have their own business terminal at Stockholm BROMMA and at Stockholm Arlanda. I visited their office to pic up cardboard for recycling with my truck and the only person there was a man sitting at the reception desk. I stated my business and he said I come with you and open the locked doors, there where several plastic containers and we took them out together and I asked what his position was at the company, he said, I am the owner, the others are at lunch. 😊 Respect!

      I'd probably have offered to drive him back to the airport the next day, if I wasn't doing anything.
      People have done the same for me, and mostly they weren't serial killers!

      not so unusual in the nordics, especially the more close to wilderness you are - helping each other there and relying on oneself is natural up there where no institutions are around to babysit you. (there is no taxi here... lol, of course there is - but he was busy 100km up west at the time haha) at least it used to be normal...
      Situation slowly changes because kindness is abused more and more by foreigners who see it as a weakness or take it for granted. Its supposed to be repaid in kind if an opportunity presents itself.

    • @matsv201
      @matsv201 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swedish Culture is a bit odd sometimes. Generally swedes will not help complete strangers. But because he accompanied here here at Arlanda, she was to Swedish custom pretty much bound to give him a lift in to town, even more so when its a really small town with very spars taxi service.
      People that visit Sweden... Also Finland and the Baltic (well i have not been to Lithuania) stage will notice that most people are very standof to strangers. But to everyone that have proven to be friendly this often change dramatically. This is a situation where Norway and Denmark is quite different to Sweden.

    I live in Sveg, i am born and raised here, made a few years in Stockholm and moved back.
    This is not a "representable" picture of Sveg.... i saw some comments about "imagine growing up there as a kid" -yeah, what about it? it is great for kids living in Sveg... They can WALK by them selfs to school without having the thoughts of beeing robbed, kidnapped or whatever.... and when it comes to "things to do" they have everything needed within reach... Poolhouse, Gym, Indoor icehockeyrink, soccergrounds, woods, and beaches, Skistadium, and this is just few things mentioned...
    Ok, probably you were here on a Sunday or Wednesday, during the time beetween winterholiday and summerholiday... AND during CORONA.... of course there were no things going on.... and we might not have any "BIG" Tourist attractions here other than the Woods, Wilderness, Fishing...... But that can also be an "attraction"
    There are at least 3 other accomodations and a Camping where you can stay, at least 7 places you can eat something, 4 of them serving Alcohol..... We have Taxiservice....
    And all you Americans in the comments that thinks that the world is spinning around the states.... yes there are a lot of American Cars in Sweden.... for example.. my mother owns a Ford Mustang -65, cab in mint condition.... IN SVEG ..probably there are more American legend cars actually working in the small towns of Sweden than in small towns in the states....
    You take a piss on people living, like us in Sveg...Or any other smallvillage in Sweden for example. you do not see the "good sides" of choosing living this way....
    In an "YouTubian" way it was a pretty good Video..... but in an "what is it like in Sveg" it was a Shitty Video....
    I will try to produce a Video Showing you people The good sides of Sveg during the summer...... there are a few Videos on my channel from Sveg....
    Alright have a great Summer everyone // Peter (X-cuse me for my english.... but i am just a HillBilly from Sveg) ;)

    The biker meet is actually an “EPA Traktor/ A-traktor” meet which are cars that have been converted into “tractors” so the max speed is 30 km/h or about 20 mph, they are recognized by their big orange triangle at the back of the car. EPA tractors are very popular among teens (especially in northern Sweden) because you do not need a drivers license for it and you only need to be 15 years old to drive them.

    It’s interesting seeing how lax Sweden is about distancing and virus containment. It feels so conflicting: on the one hand, it seems like this could lead to uncontrolled virus transmission and massive death rates and extreme suffering. On the other hand, I can’t help but feel really, really jealous of their ability to just LIVE as life is meant to be lived: together, with all kinds of people, traveling. It’s a deep, dark emotional void not being able to do that, and it feels especially painful that my current location, Massachusetts, has had over 7k deaths with a few million people less than Sweden and a lockdown since mid March, whereas Sweden has had only 4k deaths with more people and almost complete freedom. Since the virus is still so new, there could be so many things we don’t know about the virus, and some prevention ideas now could be proved to be completely useless. As much as we want to shame Noel, I think much of this is coming from a place of jealousy. Don’t come after Noel for just LIVING in a way that doesn’t cause deep depression and a lack of purpose (e.g., lockdown). There’s gonna come a point where we will understand the virus better, and before there are more suicides from being locked down, we should be able to take some measured risks to remind us WHY we want to live through the virus. Happy travels, Noel! I love your content and hope you stay healthy and happy!

      Comments in very poor taste

  • @GordonjSmith1
    @GordonjSmith1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    As a 'Brit' living in the region I found this vlog rather insulting to Sweden. When you get on a plane to a remote region and then expect a taxi service, or even a separate bathroom in your hotel, you are rather underlining your nativity. Many from the UK are not exposed to 'remote' communities, and therefore your comments may appear humorous or even 'informative', but in reality you have not actually shown more than your ignorance of daily life in these communities. If the UK had the economic out put of the the Nordics it would have few children in poverty, and few adults in long term (excluding mortgage) debt. Have a laugh for your 'vlog', but fly home and wonder why you see poverty, and unhappy people everywhere. You comment on the 'Wooden Bear' but since when did your home town take serious interest in itself? (PS I still commute to the UK, and it is not in such a good state.)

    Actually Sveg isn't a town,
    the province Härjedalen is known in Sweden as the only province out of 25 in whole Sweden that doesn't harboring a single town.
    Sveg and Härjedalen was Danish/Notwegian untill 1645 and after that Swedish, but it had only 10 000 inhabitants and Røros in Norway is still the closest town, så you could guess in a part of the video Sveg has been the center in the provinciql area because of the logging industry the last 100-150 years.

    You really missed some of the things in Sveg. First of there's a very interesting café in central Sveg with very special rooms with cinema themes. Sorry you missed it where you could have had a nice fika. But Sveg and Härjedalen is all about to a large extent the untouched nature. And of course there are the bears all around. If you ask someone from Sveg if you'll run into one they say no way, but then they all tell their stories about encounters.
    Then again Sveg is in the middle of nowhere really so to have two flights a day sounds a bit crazy but it's all about keeping routes open through out the country.

    Hi Noel. As usual it was a good video showing everything about the service. Any chance you might like to fly from Cardiff to Anglesey Airport? Fun fact: Sveg is the only major town in Härjedalen, a municipality and landscape (equivalent to the old ceremonial counties of England). It's so scarcely populated that official UN maps denote it as 'uninhabited', having less than 1 person per square kilometre.
    The only reason there are two flights a day are government subsidies, as all regions of Sweden should have regular public transport, and there isn't really any other airport or rail service nearby.
