- This video is for newer subscribers. The NV3500 Trans I used in the S10 is holding up just fine.. And with cheap off the shelf parts you can put one behind your LS engine as well!
Hey beeterolds I just finished with my 5.3 LS I put in my 1939 dodge rat rod, I used your video for helping change my timing curves, much appreciated thanks Mike
Just put a NV3500 in to my 69 C/10 behind A 350. Worked out pretty good
How is it holding up? I wanna do the same to my 71 c10
I just bought a1968 C10 with the factory I6 250 engine and 4 speed on the floor (granny 1st) I want to do that conversion to mine, do your think my existing flywheel, clutch, pressure plate will work? Also clutch linkage ? or I have to convert to hydraulic
How's power on it? Is it ballsy? I'm debating going 5.3 rather than 350 but 350 is just such a simpler, drop in and go, motor
@@RogueKnight33msd ls box and a carb intake and it’s just like bolting a 350 in with about 80 extra hp stock
Man ive shifted my GMC 1500 with the 4.3 and the nv3500 REALLY hard in a couple different little races around town. Just let that 4.3 tbi scream till it isnt making power anymore and blast it to the next gear. Now thats not alot of engine i guess but from what ive done to mine, i think this is a pretty solid gearbox. Alot of people online have said good things about the strength of this unit as well. So far looks like a great budget 5 spd. I was alittle disappointed when i found out these were even stronger than WC T5 manuals which were the same ones that went behind the mustang v8s, also available in 94' and up S-10s i believe.
Yea even though they don’t have the HP r TQ as V8 all the 4.3 is a 3/4 4.8 almost same just missing two cylinders but any trans is kinda like that if u get good one u got a good one it’s weird how some will hold up some like a grenade but any auto is the same
Only year a S10 gota WC t5 was 93 and they were behind the 4 banger and 2.9 v6 they still had 14 spline inputs so really is a semi WC i'm thinking .. the one behind 4.3 in 93 is the first year NV3500 in a s10, 94 up s10 only has 2 engine options and the trans behind the 4.3 option is the nv3500
How did you wire the up the neutral safety switch to 5.3 harness
I didnt. The factory S10 harness worked fine with the Nv3500
hey bud, back in 1998 i had a 96 s10 5 speed nv3500 and i did a LT1 swap with it,people said it wouldnt last,ha i was young at that time and i raced it every weekend, just beat on it,it was super fast too,so yes it works, but now i just did a swap ok,i have a 05 blazer 2wd.i got a 6.0 from a 2011 2500 hd the L96 then i put a cam in it had it tuned, now when i first got in and cranked it up to pull out of the garage it wouldnt go into any gear while running, engine off yea,so i bled my brand new clutch master, now i used all new parts throw out bearing everything,so i got it going but you cant quick shift it,it wont go into 3rd or really anything unless i drive slow,i have a racing clutch from spec, which needs to be driven 500 miles because it chatters in first and reverse.do you think i might still have some air in the line ? or do you think theres a difference between stock clutches and racing ones that mean you need to shim it ? i called spec and he said it might need to be shimmed.omg i dont feel like pulling it apart, heres something i bled the clutch for weeks,i can hook up the little hand pump bleeder to the master and go inside and tap on the clutch pedal with a wrench and go back and look and its like suds, tiny bubbles going up the bleeder line,so i dont know if im making it do this or if theres more air.theres not a single leak in my garage on the floor,so no leaks, just me and im so damn tired bro,so if you have any idea it would help, and yea my imput shaft is making a noise from the bearing,i had it looked at before i installed it for excess play,i put a new pilot bearing in it too,i did everything myself, but anyways guess i will google now, holler back if you dont mind,it just wont go in gear if i try and drive fast you know. later man
I'm trying to figure out the crossmember and driveline. My nv3500 came out of a 95 Silverado with a 4.3. the shifter lines up with the original hole in the 85 S10. But my crossmember doesn't line up. I was told to find a 4.3 S10 90 and above with either the nv3500 or the 700 r4. I was told to get the flywheel from a 4.8 Silverado. Don't know how much of that is correct
Please post more driving videos of you romping on it. Have a nv3500 and lq4 going in a new edge
Still salt on the roads. Gimme a few weeks
I'm going LQ9 NV3500! Rock on
good info thx for sharing👍
Ive got a 91 k1500 5.7 i scabbed the 5lm60 into, couple years later the cheap autozone clutch took a shit. Throw out bearing came apart.
So i got a zoom clutch kit with some “super high” clamping force to it.
Well ever since then i am blowing out AT LEAST one slave cylinder and one master cylinder PER YEAR……
You wouldnt happen to have any idea if anyone makes a high pressure master/slave for these old trucks do ya?
Or maybe any idea what i might be doing wrong? Lol
Sounds like yours is doing great!
Bad ass build by the way! I bet that thing is a blast to drive!!
Thanks for posting! 🤘🏻
I have a 2001 Silverado with a nv3500 and 4.3l I want to go v8 but my biggest concern is well will it explode on me ??? Can I keep my 4.3 clutch since it is a full-size how will the ecu respond to not having an electronic transmission I can’t find answers anywhere sadly
You have to use all the 4.8 clutch components. Dont abuse it and it will survive
If you have HP tuners, there should be an option on the transmission part to where you can choose the NV3500.
Got a 95 Sonoma doing a v8 swap in. Plan on using the nv3500. Any extra tips or good information that I should look out for?
hi ding a 1994 gmc1500 4x4 nv3500 from autocrapic ii am worried abort .40 thou spacing issue i guess that flywheel you talked of takes care of that ?
What starter did you use?
Do you know if the input shafts are different than the nv3500’s that came out of say a 93 Chevy truck? Please get back with me would love to know, considering ls swapping my truck and the trans in a big factor for me
🚨 My 4.3 blew in my 2000 1500 RCSB 5 speed (89,000 miles fuck me chevy) and I’m hoping by any chance is someone sees this before I pickup a 5.3 within the next couple days if someone can give any advice!!! Would be much appreciated
? Have you seen anyone use a 2 speed powergilde behind a 5.3
No. But i cant see it being much different than a th350
@@beeterolds okay thanks
How about a nv 4500 ?
Beastly transmission
@@beeterolds what kind of fuel economy you think the s10 may get now its carbed and little more weight
nv4500 is a 1 ton truck trans. not what you want in a s10.
@@chevyfarmersgarage1955 i was actually refering to the nv3500
4.3 with 4l60E is like 20mpg average
Do you power shift the 3500. Do you drive it easy?
I drive it easy but I whoop on it occasionally.
They can only take about 300' pounds of torque. Normal driving for the most part. You can't beat the crapped out of it sometimes.
I will tell you this do not power shift into 3rd gear. You will break the Synchro for 3rd
