What if they were forged to be incredibly strong but fragile because they were given to Royal Guards specifically? People nearest to the Royal Family that needed to be able to quickly kill a possible threat, so the weapons were forged to be very strong, but since the threats wouldn't be too numerous, durability wasn't a major concern. And the Royal Family could easily fund replacements as they broke.
Yeah this is what makes most sense to me, the fact that they're found nowhere else other than the castle pretty much says the wielders never left the castles with them, they weren't war weapons or weapons to take on the roads. Just security weapons for the inner castle.
But that wouldn’t make much sense since they wouldn’t have to replace them if they were more durable. While they are getting them made, since I imagine they weren’t stockpiling them, it would leave the royale family vulnerable to some things that might be considered major threats.
A sword that’s designed to seal the darkness but failed, But instead of sealing the darkness it’s consumed. Maybe it’s containing and channeling the evil? Changing to become even more powerful but in the process making it weaker as it try to contain it?

“Royal Guard’s Broadsword” would be a longer name than the others. That feels like a more likely reason. Which may also explain why their durability is low. But I am very much pleased by *"they couldn't handle the sheikh energy being condensed into them."*
Ive always seen royal guard weapons as more ceremonial. Not only that but its very uncommon an assassin would make it close enough to the king for the royal guard to need to step in so they need power for killing the attacker fast and arent for long battles. Just a quick skirmish that took at most a swing or 2 from only a few of the royal guards
Well trying to replicate the Master Sword is going to be a significant endeavor. Firstly you would need either Master Ore or whatever material the Hylian Shield is composed of and Master Ore is extremely rare. Refining the ore would probably require Robbie’s furnace / forge as it runs off of sacred flames. It would have to be blessed by Zelda after being forged and you would have to rediscover the locations of the 3 sacred flames that were originally guarded by the goddess Hylia’s chosen dragons. You would then have to bathe the blade in all 3 sacred flames and then bring it back to Zelda for a final blessing. It would be a major issue to try and properly recreate all the processes and rituals involved in the Master Sword’s creation only to produce a single blade to either match or be just weaker than the Master Sword by comparison.
@@saber2802 All things considered it has been 10,000 years since the last disaster in Hyrule and advanced technology was banished. This video is very interesting, although as many have said we must admit that those of us who use these weapons in the game is because they look cool, the royal guard weapons look great with the dark link suit or with the phantom armor. In addition, with the passage of time, so many glitches have been discovered that the durability of these weapons is currently no longer a problem. Possessing royal guard weapons with the durability of the Spring-Loaded Hammer (thanks to a glitch exploit) make one of the deadliest combinations in the entire game.
What if the Sheikas that made the Royal Guard weapons were (like the Fortune Teller, maybe) Yiga clan members, and they made the weapons secretly fragile to ensure the Royal Guard, and by extension, the Royal Family, would fall.
Actually I heard that one reason some weapons have low durability could be because calamity ganon's destruction could've increased the fragility of the royal guard weapons, meaning that they could've had a much lower rate of fragility before the events of botw
For me, the most important thing with these weapons is that there are made to fight Ganon. And since there is only one fight against him there is no need to have a high durability. These weapons are perfect to fight calamity Ganon, especially in early game and this is why there are for me well thought and useful. They are no infamous
royal guard's gear fits with the dark set VERY WELL, and it is a great choice in situations where it's durability won't go down, or when you sneak-strike, as it's damage is vastly increased, causing massive damage, and one-shoting most minor enemies
perhaps the shiekah felt that mass producing the master sword was an act of blasphemy. but the king demanded better weapons, so they made replicas .... but they were dodgy and perhaps the shiekah made a false claim that they couldnt accurately replicate the master sword. meanwhile their weapons seemingly had divine powers and they could, as seen through robbie, make weapons that could repell the evil, perhaps not as well as the Master Sword, but they got the job done, and these weapons were reserved for only they, the shiekah to wield. although after all that happened perhaps Robbie had a change of heart about his new weapons and hoped someone could succeed where link failed.
The royal guard set reminds me of the infinity blades in infinity blade 3 that are wielded by the non- worker of secrets bosses, like the infinity cleaver. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, let me know if you agree.
I don't know what Infinity blade is. Could you explain the basic premise to me, please? I am into RPG'S and adventure games, so it may be up my ally if it falls along these lines.
@@lordtullus9942 infinity blade is a mobile game trilogy developed by epic games. However, unlike epics other famous game, fortnite, it is not free to play, not multiplayer, and has amazing graphics (at least 2 and 3 do). The premise is your a deathless, an immortal who can be killed but will revive after a short time, usually 2-3 weeks. However, you have fragmented memories of your past, and try to find out who you truly are. It has extremely fun fights, great scenery, cool armor, and tons of secrets. It also has a surprising amount of replayability for a singleplayer game. Would absolutely recommend getting if you aren't scared off by the fact that its on mobile. It's an amazing series.
If I were royalty, I'd want my personal guards to have the strongest possible weapons - even at the cost of durability. With the castle under attack, my guards can stock up on weapons. But the army fighting abroad needs more durable weapons as they cannot resupply from home as easily. Perhaps naive of me but I've never been royalty lol
They technically used the power of the blue flame. The Goddess Sword needed all three flames and Hylias blessing. They only had 1 of 4 pieces to that puzzle.
Never thought about that but you might be right. Nayru's Blue Flame used to power the Goddess Sword in Skyward Sword could very well be THE main energy source that powers all the Sheikah technology present in the Era of the Wild. Since the Royal Guard swords were all powered by only one of the 3 Flames the blades only carried a small amount of the full Master Sword's power which meant they would eventually shatter after the Blue Flame's energy was depletted. This could also be the reason why the swords are found excusively inside Hyrule Castle given the connection between Zelda, Nayru and Wisdom.
I didn't realise that these weapons were considered Infamous. I like them and I think it makes sense that they are rare, powerful and fragile. Like from a game design perspective it makes a lot of sense, they don't want them to be easy to come by because of how powerful they are and also they should be used in emergencies and hard fights since they are fragile. If Rotal Guards used them, Guards that were responsoble for protecting the King Directly then they wouldn't see much combat and as a result have no need to have a high durability. All the effort could have gone into their attack.
All things considered, I figured that the royal guard weapons are considerably more brittle due to being the most exposed to the malice, along with the corrupted air.
@@liamdalemon1525 ??? The Royal Guard Claymore has a durability of 15? What the hell are you talking about? And even if it DID have a decent durability, it's a slow two handed weapon. Those are only useful for their spin attacks or AoE Jump slams, which makes them useless against opponents like Lynels unless you stun them first. The Master Sword has a steady attack of 60, regenerates, has all of the benefits of being a fast one-hand weapon, and slices through guardian Damage resistance like butter
This is a great video and I offer an alternate hypothesis. Remember why the tear exists in the Sheikah Emblem. It’s possible the Sheikah made these weapons, but made them brittle on purpose in case they were ever betrayed by the Royal family again. If you view a lot of the actions of the Sheikah as hedging, the story not only still makes sense but maybe is even better. The Sheikah developed and were in control of most of the tools that had finally rid the Kingdom of Ganondorf. It was basically impossible for a repeat of their past to happen.
The point made about how the weapons were added for the story and not as much the weapons themselves is completely negated when you add glitches, or more specifically durability transfer through menu overloading. Also duping, making gathering them much simpler.
2 years later, I'm still mad that the Royal Guard set isn't a black, badass version of the normal guard set. Like how the royal guard weapons are to the normal knight weapons. Instead, we get ceremonial clothes, and a stupid hat.
I feel like the weapons were made WITH malice, In a 'fight fire with fire' kind of approach but ended up backfiring, experimenting with malice could also explain how Ganon took over the divine beasts and guardians so easily.
Their red and black color makes me think they were corrupted by malice, cursing the weapons and making them brittle. This would make the failed battle with Calamity Ganon even more hopeless, not only were the guards outnumbered, but all their weapons were shattering left and right. That would also explain why they're so scarce.
I can't help noticing that that Royal Guard sword has more details in common with the Wind Waker Master Sword rather than the normal Master Sword we see in the other games... Could be a nice extension of that theory that the Wind Waker Master Sword was a replica.
do you think all the malice in hyrule castle could have corroded the weapons so they became brittle? it would make sense for calamity ganon to want to sabotage powerful weapons used by his enemies
To me I think it does make some sense that the Royal Guard weaponry set is both highly powerful, yet fragile. One, because it could be more decorative and noticeable vs the other sets, could be a good deterrent to potential attacks that these guards are a few steps higher than the lower ranks. And given their rolls, it would make sense too that the weaponry isn't meant for longer, drawn-out fights like their lower-tiered brothers might be. The duty of the Royal Guards would be, well, to guard the royal or higher classed individuals, not to be on a direct battlefield. The guard's duty is to, first and foremost, cut down potential attackers that would pose a threat to the ones they are protecting as quickly and efficiently as they can. And if they, the attackers, managed to make it past the probable other lines of defense, the lower guards that may have the first 3 tiers of weaponry, it is likely that they didn't make it by them unscathed or at all. It is likely that the approach in making these weapons followed this mindset. It is vital that the last line of defense for the Royal members should be some of the most powerful, and in the hands of the most skilled. But with the previous lines of defense also active, while not being as powerful but more durable for drawn-out skirmishes, it is likely they wouldn't see as many encounters, let alone drawn-out ones if their task is to end conflicts and potential threats immediately.
Maybe the royal guard weapons are purple to seem as if they are corrupted by Calamity Ganon's malice for the weapons being stuck in Hyrule Castle for over 100 years.
There was one rip off of the master sword that actually succeeded: the four sword. The four sword I’m convinced was created by the minish using the goddess sword as a base of the metal.
What he didn't mention is that all of the royal guard's weapons (including the Royal Guard's Sword) are EXACT replicas of the royal weapons. This means that the Royal Broadsword is also an EXACT REPLICA OF THE MASTER SWORD.
I mean for the royal guard having really powerful but brittle weapons does make sense, they aren't foot solders that are expected to be sent into battle and fight for hours they're meant to protect the royal family. It's not that big an issue if their weapon breaks because they can get new ones since they're well supplied and for them it makes the most sense to just be able to deal out a lot of damage quickly so that they can stop anyone trying to get at the royal family. Especially with someone like Ganon where their main objective is to protect Zelda, they don't need to hold out for hours they just need to make sure that Zelda stays safe.
My favorite armor is probably the dark link armor or the barbarian armor (forgot the name) the dark link outfit cuz it looks sick and the the barbarian outfit makes link look like a straight badass.

I actually thought it said somewhere in game that the Royal Guard weapons were made recently... No idea where, maybe it didn't really, but that's always been my understanding.
0:46 Come on you got the sexy graphics too? I can’t afford a pc like that. I hope the switch pro has that power
If rumors are to be believed switch pro will have a 4k screen which might be possible if it has an ampere graphics chip not sure about that one though

FINALLY someone talks about it!
My theory on the blade was they that "Charred by Malice during the Calamity which is why they are darker than their counterparts. Which may also explain why their durability is low. But I am very much pleased by *"they couldn't handle the sheikh energy being condensed into them."*
1:08 what about traveler's?
They aren't used by the soldiers of Hyrule.
Edit: army of Hyrule, my bad
Dragon's Swarm yea... but hes talking about every weapon class right?
ConfusedPiano 5 no he’s talking only about the hyrulean army, not random strangers.
2:26 NBC be flexin his lynel weapon collection XD
Weird that the Hylian shield goes from something Knights use to something like a companion to the Master Sword.
@@saber2802 All things considered it has been 10,000 years since the last disaster in Hyrule and advanced technology was banished. That may have included the record of how to create an actual unbreakable shield. Plus the shields were probably left with the buried technology or remained with the warriors used them or possibly their families so some people may be unaware of what their family heirlooms are capable of doing.
Love you NBC! These theory/lore videos are a nice breath of wildly fresh air from 2020.

Me, who glitches their durability with the Springload hammer and menu desync: _Huh, couldn't tell._
What if the Royal Guard Set was actually the unfinished weapon development by Robbie himself? It makes sense.
I like this personally
This video is very interesting, although as many have said we must admit that those of us who use these weapons in the game is because they look cool, the royal guard weapons look great with the dark link suit or with the phantom armor. In addition, with the passage of time, so many glitches have been discovered that the durability of these weapons is currently no longer a problem. Possessing royal guard weapons with the durability of the Spring-Loaded Hammer (thanks to a glitch exploit) make one of the deadliest combinations in the entire game.
kinda reminds me of Demise's sword with the weird edges going on.
What if the Sheikas that made the Royal Guard weapons were (like the Fortune Teller, maybe) Yiga clan members, and they made the weapons secretly fragile to ensure the Royal Guard, and by extension, the Royal Family, would fall.
5:15 god dang that master sword looks good
Actually I heard that one reason some weapons have low durability could be because calamity ganon's destruction could've increased the fragility of the royal guard weapons, meaning that they could've had a much lower rate of fragility before the events of botw
Woah that theory went way back, it's been a while since we talked about the creation of the master sward and skybound blade :p
perhaps the shiekah felt that mass producing the master sword was an act of blasphemy. but the king demanded better weapons, so they made replicas .... but they were dodgy and perhaps the shiekah made a false claim that they couldnt accurately replicate the master sword. meanwhile their weapons seemingly had divine powers and they could, as seen through robbie, make weapons that could repell the evil, perhaps not as well as the Master Sword, but they got the job done, and these weapons were reserved for only they, the shiekah to wield. although after all that happened perhaps Robbie had a change of heart about his new weapons and hoped someone could succeed where link failed.
I'm playing in master mode and just found that exact sword in a chest on a floating platform next to hyrule castle
2:10 the royal guard bow has good range though
Helped me get the knight horse armour
What if the Yuga sabatoged it? Or maybe the Shiekha made it weak purposefully out of fear of exile again.
I think... the weapons are depleted due to time and loss of energy compared to the master sword that has a charger to ait on.
I don’t know why but when I play BotW it’s nostalgia of OoT, man I miss OoT and MM
Oxnard Darcy I had them both on the 3ds but I traded them in for BotW cuz I had no dough

@@andreicecold4379 thank you
Royal guard weapons exist for two important reasons, aesthetic and lore
If I were royalty, I'd want my personal guards to have the strongest possible weapons - even at the cost of durability. With the castle under attack, my guards can stock up on weapons. But the army fighting abroad needs more durable weapons as they cannot resupply from home as easily. Perhaps naive of me but I've never been royalty lol
Good mind :)
They technically used the power of the blue flame. The Goddess Sword needed all three flames and Hylias blessing. They only had 1 of 4 pieces to that puzzle.
Follow up: Sheikah magic/technology true source is the Blue Flame of Nayru
Never thought about that but you might be right. Nayru's Blue Flame used to power the Goddess Sword in Skyward Sword could very well be THE main energy source that powers all the Sheikah technology present in the Era of the Wild. Since the Royal Guard swords were all powered by only one of the 3 Flames the blades only carried a small amount of the full Master Sword's power which meant they would eventually shatter after the Blue Flame's energy was depletted. This could also be the reason why the swords are found excusively inside Hyrule Castle given the connection between Zelda, Nayru and Wisdom.
I’m seeing a reskin of the master sword in the video. How’s that possible
*Laughs in CEMU*.

That’s what I’m wondering. I was hoping to find an answer in your 2 reply’s but nothing lol
I think their infamy is just an exaggeration. Videos like this get like that sometimes.
@@snivyservine6361 I suppose so, I guess they want that dramatic build up.
Could the ancient technology be using Synthetic sacred energy?
Could this "synthetic" energy also be the "spirit energy" stored inside the Luminous Stones and Zonai Hand?

@@GladiusTR no silly, the one that breaks in 79 hits
It's a shame that their durability is low. Otherwise, I'd be using them more often.
Use durability transfer glitch(these weapons with the 80 durability from the spring loaded hammer are monsters)
Although I still prefer the ancient axe++ with ancient proficiency and attack boost
The point made about how the weapons were added for the story and not as much the weapons themselves is completely negated when you add glitches, or more specifically durability transfer through menu overloading. Also duping, making gathering them much simpler.
Does he use the PC ROM of the game dot footage? It looks so crisp and smooth.
I think the liquid stuff in the ancient core is the malice that couruptid the guardians

In master mode you can find royal hard weapons on the flying ships in chest
9 likes and five views. I guess youtube is drunk again
I feel like the weapons were made WITH malice, In a 'fight fire with fire' kind of approach but ended up backfiring, experimenting with malice could also explain how Ganon took over the divine beasts and guardians so easily.
They also make a pretty epic dark master sword for the dark link outfit
Their red and black color makes me think they were corrupted by malice, cursing the weapons and making them brittle.
This would make the failed battle with Calamity Ganon even more hopeless, not only were the guards outnumbered, but all their weapons were shattering left and right. That would also explain why they're so scarce.
My weapon inventory is filled like this 2:18
I can't help noticing that that Royal Guard sword has more details in common with the Wind Waker Master Sword rather than the normal Master Sword we see in the other games... Could be a nice extension of that theory that the Wind Waker Master Sword was a replica.
I love the combo of the dark link outfit with the royal guard weapons. I often wear those together for screenshots
do you think all the malice in hyrule castle could have corroded the weapons so they became brittle? it would make sense for calamity ganon to want to sabotage powerful weapons used by his enemies
Travelers set exsists
“I’m gonna pretend I didn’t see that”
Maybe the royal guard weapons are purple to seem as if they are corrupted by Calamity Ganon's malice for the weapons being stuck in Hyrule Castle for over 100 years.
There was one rip off of the master sword that actually succeeded: the four sword. The four sword I’m convinced was created by the minish using the goddess sword as a base of the metal.
What about the Lokomo Sword from Spirit Tracks?
Why does the royal guards sword seem like it would be dark links weapon
I would imagine sheikah tech could use an operating system such as Fi, but the wepons could not be blessed like the master sword or made out of the same material.
When you said that the edge of duality was in chests but the Royal guard weapons were in hyrule castle i thought you were going to say that the Royal guards weapons that we find in game arent new; they've been used already and are about to break
Maybe the sheikah intentionally nerfed them as an insurance measure
Istg I love how we just know that the Royal Guard Set is your favourite Amour.
