Some of the most dramatic, exciting, beautiful, terrible things happened in the past and most history classes take all the fun (and lessons to be learned) out of it. We wonder why the younger generation resemble uneducated hooligans despite their rather by comparison advanced educations, but they slept through history class more than we did.

    • @amanofnoreputation2164
      @amanofnoreputation2164 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not a day goes bay when I don't regret getting into reading, history, and art earlier than I did. The thing that did it is that schools, knowingly or not, seem obsessed with the idea that you get the "right" view of history or do the "right" kind of art or dumb reading down for you give you prescribed ways of interpreting it instead of teaching you how to interpret.
      Of course, they cant teach you how to interpret literature because it requires an unfiltered perspective; something so intangible it cannot be marked on a test.
      One thing they could do to make history more interesting, however, is give teachers more freedom within the curriculum.
      The fear here is that the teacher will be irresponsible or biased and give the students a one-sided view, but this would be true no matter what view they wind up adopting and the academically accepted view is by no means ideal.
      Many people say that some school teach how to think as opposed to what to think, but I don't think any school can do the former and seems to encourage the latter very much more. The student needs to come to that of themselves. Which is probably why French schools don't bother to teach religious studies while British ones do. Nothing about Religious Studies in school assured me of anything other than that religion was as boring as I'd always assumed. Because they focused on the dogmas and not the significance of the mythologies -- the ways of seeing the world -- behind them and the essential forms of religious experience they all point to I.E a sense of unity with the rest of being.
      That last bit is really the most important thing to understand about religion, and not even my local church taught it to me.

    A couple things I wanted to mention, but forgot about in this video. One, HOW DID I NOT MENTION THE PORTALS AHHHH!!! Yeah, so it won’t be shocking if they led to some sort of sacred realm. What I found very interesting was how they are VERY similar to the parts that “open” up to the surface in SS. Though since it’s not cloudy all the time in botw it must be something different. Random thought; perhaps Naydra happened to be the only spirit in Hyrule at the time Ganon returned and unleashed his malice...perhaps it was there since Zelda had JUST prayed at the spring of wisdom.
    Second is that the crystal “spikes” on the dragon’s backs looks nearly identical to the parts on the ends of the elemental arrows. Perhaps the dragons are the source for materials to make them? They are “elemental spirits” after all...though the problem is that not many can see them, so how would people in the present get those materials?
    Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

      After Naydra settled in front you you to let you shoot a scale off to access the shrine I started to think of it being the same the entire time; a choice of the dragons. Like, shooting the arrows doesnt force the scales or horn shards off, it let's them know what part you want, at which point they knock it off themselves to land somewhere you can reach, hencethe whole glowing like a spotlight and travelling some distance rather than just dropping straight down into a canyon or lake or something - they get a say in the parts coming off and where they go to be able to help you. After all, if the Great fairies ask for the parts to improve your armour with, they've probably done this sort of thing with those parts before. So what if the dragons are physical incarnations of the Triforce to protect them? Maybe Naydra only fell to Malice when Zelda used her Triforce, and Ganon used that moment to trap Zelda by attacking Naydra? I agree some of it is more symbolic than anything, but I feel like this makes a little sense. It would explain where the Triforce is.

    I think my favorite thing I've noticed about the dragons is their spawn locations. Unless I've missed some (which is always possible), Farosh always spawns from water (from the earth) while Naydra and Dinraal both spawn from the sky (from the heavens). To me this parallels our three recurring LoZ characters - Zelda and Gannon both originate from non-mortal sources (I'd use "divine", but that word generally has a good connotation to it, which Demise certainly isn't) while Link is a mortal hero.

    I have a quick question: what is up with the tingle islands? They're named after an iconic group of characters, and they're surrounded by sky stalkers, extremely late-game enemies, but why are they so heavily guarded? There's barely anything there, besides one shrine, so why does Ganon hate the islands so much that he sends an army of sky stalkers to guard
    Also, unrelated thought, Do you think that the temple we see in the BOTW2 trailer could be what's hidden behind the 8th heroine? Think about, an ancient pilgrim place of reflection watched over by a reflected heroine, but when something awful happens, the 8th heroine is dragged from her place to cover it up so quickly that her sword is left behind, and erased from history to keep what is behind her sealed forever
    but hey, that's just a theory, A Nintendo Theory!

      Just about everything is named after iconic characters and places from previous games. It’s simple.. it doesn’t mean anything. It could have been named anything and those guardians would still be there. The call backs to other characters are Easter eggs and a tool for developers to catch new players up on the history and lore and to get new players into older games. Everyone is looking into everything way too much. For example the zonai. Creating a champion says by a developer the zonai were just a design tool to explain a sense of ancient. So they created a mystery group to explain away ruins. They left them as a mystery so they wouldn’t have to spend time explaining them. Just a tool. Could they elaborate on them in the future.. sure but as of now they mean nothing. Just like the names and design aspects of botw means nothing. Some people just look too much into nothing.

    I do think that the reason Naydra alone was corrupted is because of its tie-in to Zelda, both being the embodiment of Wisdom and Zelda using all her power to contain Ganon. Perhaps she is also preventing Dinraal--Ganon's matched-pair embodiment of Power--from being corrupted and running a rampage. For all we know, Farosh was corrupted all the while Link was asleep, only shaking it off when the hero awoke, which could be the reason that Farosh split the mountain into the Dueling Peaks, blinded by Malice.

    So in one of the memories Link uncovers, we learn that to become an eternal dragon is done by swallowing a secret stone, but one’s identity, memories, and personality are lost upon doing so (with one notable exception). Who, then, were the people that swallowed secret stones in order to become Dinraal, Naydra, and Farosh? I like to think that the oracles Din, Nayru, and Farore were those figures, but I have little to base that on besides their names. Anyone else with some thoughts? I wonder what the dragons' vector paths in 3D show something when looked at a certain angle... maybe combined....
    Huh, just realized the colors of the Golden Goddesses when combined in lights, creates white, but when combined in inks, creates black. Naturally light, but dark when imitated. Gerudo, living between hot days and cold nights, wearing beautifully colored fabrics, seem more in touch with the nature of life and death. Is that why Gerudo males lose their minds?

    One thing you failed to notice, at Lake Hylia, Farosh goes into sort of a hole formed high in the sky, which I will call the Dragon Hole. The Dragon Hole, in my opinion, represents the spirits who created Hyrule, went to when they were done with their business. I haven't visited Dinrall or Naydra, though I believe they too travel to the Dragon Hole when they're done floating around. I just wanted to point this out, since this is the one thing you failed to mention, and I felt the need to inform you about it.

    My question is why is the spring of wisdom on the right of the spring of courage. If these springs are supposed to present each piece of the triforce than why is the spring of wisdom place on the right not the left. The gods can take physical form just how the goddess hylia turned into Zelda in order to protect the triforce. Love These Zelda Games!

      Matthew Dickendasher I don’t think the location is meant to be a physical representation of the triforce. You’re looking into it too much. The locations meaning goes back to SS.

    Fun fact in ToTK you learn that if you swallow a secret stone you turn into a dragon hich means there's a chance the dragon used to be people

    I like that you used it the Dragonspiral Tower music when you started talking about the Dragons’ appearance in dungeons. Nice touch
    Also Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra’s elements match the elements of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem, which I think is really cool

    you should change the title to "Are the Dreggins Gods?"

    The elements do kinda match up, though, just not directly. Wind and lightning are both associated with the sky, and ice is just another form of water. Also, PMD music is always an awesome choice👍

    This dude sounds so nice. "Thank you for taking time out of your daily schedule to listen to me talk about video games". I literally stream these videos all day long because Zelda Videos and this dudes voice is insanely soothing for my anxiety. So thank you, dude. You keep me sane.

    That theory aged poorly

  • @FancyBreadSticks
    @FancyBreadSticks ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sorry to ruin the theory, but no. The dragons aren't gods- *spoilers for people who haven't played totk*
    The dragons are people who ate secret stones from the Zonai, who are the actual gods of this world. These dragons were people who didn't heed the warning of the Stones: " to swallow a secret stone is to lose one's-self " they became an immortal Dragon and Don't remember who they are. They have a purpose or a reason to do something, or something idk. Zelda is an example, she became a dragon to help link. But she doesn't know who link is, and wants to stop Ganondorf, but doesn't know who he is. They have reasons to be dragons but can't remember why, there just a husk of their former self, forever cursed to roam the skies of Hyrule and never go back to a normal life.
