- The Graco UltraMAX is a handheld paint sprayer renowned for its versatility, capable of spraying both solvent-based and water-based paints.
This feature sets it apart from the Ultra, which is primarily designed for water-based paints. The UltraMAX offers professional-grade performance in a portable package, making it suitable for a wide range of painting tasks, from small-scale DIY projects to larger commercial endeavors. Its adjustable pressure settings, ease of cleanup, and compatibility with various coatings make it a reliable choice for those seeking efficiency and flexibility in their painting equipment. On the other hand, the Ultra, while efficient for water-based paints, may not offer the same versatility for users requiring solvent-based options. Consider your specific painting needs and preferences to determine which model best suits your requirements.
You may find the Graco Quickshot more suitable or a bit bigger spray more powerful unit if you're doing a lot more spraying.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a DIY enthusiast, choose the paint sprayer that matches your needs and preferences. Explore the world of painting possibilities with the Graco UltraMAX and Quickshot - the ultimate tools for unleashing your creativity!

I’ve had mine for nearly 18months takes getting used to but I took it out today and it was fantastic. First pump change since new and I only use it for wood work!
I got one sent over from the States around 2014 ish and it was absolutely brilliant. In those days the batteries were Graco 21v and when they gave up i couldn't get replacements so its been at the back of the garage ever since. Having just shelled out on a quick shot last week, I'll wait a bit before adding a new one of these to my ever growing collection! 😅
This has been useful Phil. I’m fully into the full size Wagner system for the HEA and I find they suit me perfectly, but I’ve been looking for a smaller sprayer for quick touch ups jobs or easy running around a single room doing trim etc; the smaller Wagners haven’t impressed me much so the Ultra Max was on my radar to look into. Really helpful matey, thank you.
Glad to help. What do you think to the Quick Shot?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Having looked at it, I’m swinging towards it more. It’s more adaptable and easier to manoeuvre, which makes a huge difference. While the Ultra Max looks good as an all in one solution, the extra flexibility of the quick shot would make all the difference. I’m going to watch a few videos on it tomorrow and then get an order in 😁
I have the Ultra. They are messy as hell to use (to fill and clean out) but the finish, speed and lack of overspray make them worth it.
I found it easy to clean out, like a quick shot.
WOW Phil nearly 10k. I was genuinely in at around 300. What colour is the 911?
Nicely explained Phil. Also the quickshot has the advantage of an electronic gun so spits are almost zero. They're both a great addition to a sprayers arsenal but not upto day in day out use as you said.
My skirting boards and doors frames are gloss over the years it has multiple coats of gloss , I wanna go to a satin , so my question is , would you use 120 grit then 340 the use under coat then 2 top coats, ? And my other question is scuff x would you also need a primer first then 2 top coats , and is the Johnstones aqua guard just as good or scuff x is better wanna use on my banister as a well many thanks
Sand down with 120 will be enough. Or those Mirka gold flex 150 pads I have in my Amazon store... Link in the description.
Yes. Over oil gloss idbgo with a grip primer UC then two top coats of scuffx.
Or use Benjamin Moore stiX.
Some paintsnliie Isomat, you can go with AllPrimer and then two top coats of Satin Isolac.
Have a watch of my Aqua Gaurd and ScuffX videos.
I have the ultra and it’s great, I also have a Wagner for the biger jobs
I have a magnet on my fridge
hi please could you tell me if the 60 quid erbraur spray gun could be used to spray skirting boards and if so what type of white paint should i use, thank you!
yes it will, use something easy.. bedec MSP, Zinsser Allcoat.. or any of the other paints I've used in the product testing play list
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator thanks , nice1
I have applied 1 coat of diamond eggshell from dulux on kitchin walls.i need to fill in places with easifill.can I spot prime with the the product
Yes I would do. You may need a couple of coats. Ease the first coat to prime the filler.
Anyone tried the aqua guard white gloss ?
Hi good video. How would you say the noise is between the two. Meaning between the quick shot and the one you are showing. Cheers.
you don't buy a sprayer for quietness..... QuickShot for the win though IMO
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yeah I get that but it’s a special circumstance. Cheers.
PS tell that to the new Graco XT line. 😀

Does this one spray bins primer? I have some brushing wax on my skirting I want to cover. I have used bins before and it works really well as a primer over the wax.
Yes. Clean out with meths.
But I'd clean the wax off as much as you can with meths and wire wool as well.
Wait a minute… You guys are cleaning these out with meth? That’s got to be expensive if you’re outside of the US😬
@@AlexandraCimino you know the thinner for a shellac based product (like Zinsser BIN) is methylated spirit?
Should I be worried about buying a used ultramax been reading a lot about pumps failing
At the right price I'd risk it, knowing that you can always buy a new pump when needed.
I’ve had mine about a year used it twice think it’s absolutely terrible for £800 mine leaks gets clogged up loads and when you stop the trigger it spits
New cup
the pump life is 200 gallons if i recall correctly. That's not 200 liters, that's 750 liters.
Google it. :(
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Yes... it's 150-200 gallons, so not liters. 200 liters would be ridiculously low cobsidering the pump costs about 300€

@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I realize that we're talking about the ultramax. I was talking about the quickshot sorry lol
@@SynQ86 lol
They use a very similar pump though
Loaned......lol.
It look brand new.
Ive got one, when its good its good, but when it's bad its a pain in the ass
Yep... It needed a good clean before I used it on video. The wife wasn't too happy with it striped down in the kitchen utility sink lol
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator it's only a matter of time before I get the quick shot👀
8 is gonna kill that pump Phil. 5-6 maximum for that machine
5-6?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yeah it’s a small pump and although 10 is the highest setting it goes to it’s not designed for use at that level. 4.5.6 are the optimal power you wanna be using. All you needed to do was thin your pain ever so slightly and bobs your uncle Fanny’s your aunt.
Missed a bit on Dave 😂
As a DIYer I think I'll stick with a brush/roller....
The ultra can spray oil based paints
ULTRA - WaterBased
ULTRA Max - Oil Based and WaterBased.
As said in the video.. it's all to do with the plastic or metal spray guards
Ultra max not for me the fact you have to earth it to a socket makes it not so portable and I don’t spray solvent and if I did I’d use air spray with PPS system I have the ultra and only use it for what it was designed for a touch up gun 👍🏻
A professional doesn't need all this hoopla 🎉
Massively over priced in my opinion.
I totally agree
In a word , CRAP
Forever blocking , pumps don’t last , avoid
Mine went on eBay after a short while
That surprises me Dave, I had the very 1st original one I got from a fella I know in the States. It was absolutely superb, never missed a beat, never spat paint and didn't leak as some others have said on here. I sprayed well over 50 gallons of paint through it not including the water I put through to clean it. It only gave up when the batteries, originally 21 volt graco ones, gave up and I couldn't replace them. Maybe as these units have become more popular, they've reduced the quality. I wonder if yours just needed a bit more fine tuning on paint dilution and pressure?
Probably about 5/6 years ago
Was looking for something to doors on new builds with no power on
No end of trouble with it tbh
Went back to t5 and a generator
No comparison
One very important question is do you know JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR?
£200 pump change every 200 litres?! Fucking ell!!! That right there is a deal breaker.
