Great sprayer! I have the Ultra and painted the entire interior of my 1600sqf home. I love the interchangeable tips as it helped me get the paint flow/fan size just right for the various paints I used. I know you were concerned about its ability to do big jobs and, while you will definitely get a forearm workout, I had no issues with overheating while running the sprayer continuously through multiple batteries. I also purchased extra 42oz cups and liners and kept other charged batteries handy so I wouldn’t have to stop and refill as often. Just don’t leave paint in the pump overnight. That cost me around $200 for a new pump… I hope this helps some people!
Try doing that multiple times. Lol. It won’t last, they are rated for how many gallons they can spray before issues. You might check that out. And oh the last thing you want when spraying is weight at the gun.
Just bought this unit to paint some shed siding and other small projects. So far I'm very impressed, makes easy work of t111 shed siding. It's a bit of a paint hog with overspray but the time savings in worth it. I am heavily invested in the Milwaukee m18 battery system and wasn't crazy about now adding a Dewalt cordless tool. I spend about $21 on Amazon and got a Milwaukee-to-Dewalt adapter to use on the paint sprayer and it works great. Sold both Dewalt batteries and the charger for $100.
That skill share sounds great. I have two of these. One Ultra and one TC Pro. I have put about 90 gal. Through the pumps before the clogging problems begin. They spray excellent and I am a pro painter. I refinish trim and paint small 50-70 sq. Ft ceilings with it. Now the clean out. I can do it in about 6-7 minutes.. basically take off cup leave the cup holder top on and tip up side down under a faucet. Switch between prime and spray several times. Easy to clean and 1/2 the time of my big G490’s. Recommended if you do 5-10 jobs per year.
As someone who does parking lot striping, we will typically switch through colors multiple times from white to red to blue and yellow but we may need little touch ups. Maybe a car ran over wet paint or a stencil got forgotten. Something like this would definetly come in handy
Great video, one quick point, and it's kind of a biggie, the TC PRO and the ULTRA are the exact same sprayer. The FFLP spray tips are 100% compatible with the TC PRO and all of the inner components are exactly the same.
I called Graco 2/18/22 and this was confirmed. Indentical except for cup frame and tip protector colors. Common marketing for big-box / paint store offerings.
I saw this some place else in the comments. Thank you. I was thinking of switching them out before opening. I feel better. I got the TC Pro at Lowes with a 10% off coupon I purchased at HugeOff for $2 and the price went from $640 to $570 after tax. So TC Pro with 10% off coupon seems the better way to go cause I'm seeing the Ultra for $640 BEFORE tax. So that's $100 difference.
@@trevcdeal I appreciate you sharing the “Huge Off” coupon deal. I had never heard of it. I made a $700 purchase two weeks ago. Wish I would have known about this.
@@missffinley I literally just used it yesterday. Used the 10% on a $260 wood order and saved $26. I’m about to buy like 10 sheets of drywall and a lot of other stuff. Will come in handle again. I’ve thought about getting the Home Depot Pro card so I can use the coupons with them. I just haven’t committed yet.
I have the VSP and I used it to paint the entire exterior of my house. It never over heated. It also worked out well. I would run through the a 42 ounce cup, back roll, refill and do another section. I have a full airless rug but I found it perfectly effective to use the little sprayer. Maybe not what it is designed for but worked well for me.
One of the biggest benefits I've seen for these vs the larger units is the amount of paint that's needed to even use it. The larger airless go through paint really quick. It takes almost a half gallon just to prime up the system of my large airless. A gallon of paint won't get you very far and then there's still around a 1/3 of the can left when the pickup tube is pretty much useless. These are great if you have a small project and just have a quart of paint to do it.
If you keep the unit close to you and use a 5 foot hose, and/or chase with water when you're priming/cleaning it, there is hardly any wastage. Maybe a 1/2 cup at most
Titan 440 Highrider w/ RX-Pro 515 HEA for walls, 410 Fine finish for cabinets, 211 hea for trim, 517 HEA for oil based primers and 515 HEA for water based primers...antifreeze to store. That's quality, efficiency, reliability,...that's magic.
I have the ultra and project plus. I've not had any problems with the ultra on shutting off or overheating. Having not to deal with priming a hose and later cleaning is an added benefit. Cleaning it is not a big deal for me. I use the regular cup so weight is not an issue either. It's my go to sprayer and actually makes it less of a chore to paint.
According to the Graco rep, the difference between the TC Pro & Ultra is the Ultra is shipped with the better FFLP tips and they are both the same sprayer. ?? Lowes & HD sell the TC Pro.
I painted a 175ft long x 17ft high mural with the corded version. I couldn’t afford a large sprayer at the time. But I only had to replace the pump once and that’s very easy. I’m going to purchase the cordless ultra or maybe ultramax version which i read has a brushless motor which is more efficient. Still have a lil more research to do but Just fyi you can do rather large projects with these if need be. You def will get an arm workout tho. These cordless versions are awesome for when you need to travel light but paint big!!! Highly recommended! These things are troopers!
I own a ultimate my self I painted the interior of a 6x5 shed a ceiling in an apartment, I have painted a whole house of baseboards, about 40 doors and a whole room lol it’s been very nice to me. It is a bit tedious to fill but it’s still a great sprayer
Thank you for the review! I was about to purchase the TC Pro from HD but then saw your review and ended up purchasing the Ultra for the same price from Amazon.
I bought a graco prox17 a year back. The airless sprayer cart with the gun on the hose. This is one thing I'll stick with cords and hoses. If I were to do it again I'd get a more powerful version, but this one already paid itself off on friends jobs. It's was about the same price as those handhelds
Years ago I looked at Graco's in big box and learned those models use the RAC V tips versus the better RAC X tips on the pro models sold in paint stores. For same money I went with the base pro model and never looked back. So good for large jobs but for small tasks a pain to set up and clean out (long hose means a lot of paint to flush.) So when they started offering the handhelds I jumped in and got the cheap cheap DIY corded model and it works fine so far, and not as hard to clean up IMO. But only two tips and 1500 PSI so started looking at these better versions but of course Graco playing the same game offering incompatible versions with proprietary tips in big box versus pro paint stores (and Amazon). So my current two speed consumer version was really cheap on a deal day or something - less than 140 bucks so when it wears out I will likely pony up for the Ultra plus as it can spray lacquer and volatiles. But wow over 800 clams plus if Dewalt ever obsoletes the current 20v battery form factor ( and i'm a Makita 18v guy, same fear tho) ...anyway all of these use the flex containers but like you point out the plus has a solvent compatible version to tolerate solvent coatings. You can buy extra flex containers and you can use a plug to seal unused paint in the flex containers (solvent or regular) and just clean the gun for overnight preservation- can't really do that with my pro model that only works with 5 gallon buckets and needs to be cleaned every night or face gumming up the pump, hose and gun. Oh and oil - gotta oil the big boy every time.
Hi just since you paint for a living I have a mobile home what would be the best way to paint it paint gun sprayer roll it or paint brush ? So confused ??!! I want it to look perrrrrrfect so please honest answer my friend thank you god bless Joey mass area
Used this gun to paint exterior siding on my house, 1500 sq ft and painted exterior of two barns! I love it! And it’s never overheated, not once. It was 90 degrees when I painted last barn, went thru 3 gallons of paint. It’s been awesome! I don’t have the 42oz system still using 32oz so means filling up more but it’s lighter. And you can change the guard to the rac x and use fflp tips which are awesome and a cheaper way to use those tips versus buying the ultra
Graco can pound sand for the price for the ultra!! (I have to edit this. This price is for the Ultra Max.) 819.00 to 1100.00. Talk about price gouging!! That is way to much for like you said, this can't be used for big jobs. Great video and very informative! Thanks. I'm editing again! I really want one! You can get the Utra for about the same price as the Pro. One place on the internet for the Ultra was actually cheaper than the Pro.
I had tc pro just about 2 weeks for a remote job. It's surprising. It's easy to use. I actually use it to paint whole house trim, door, corners, cabinet, base boards( I have 5 batteries total). Now it's about 18 gallons. I am not a pro and I love it.
You can use the Graco RAC X tips (Green) like the FF LP for a much finer spray. You have to change the safety tip out for a RAC X (Blue) safety tip, Graco 246215. Note: that you cannot use a FF LP RAC X tips with the TC Pro (Gray) safety guard/tip.
Travis great review. I do have one thing to say about both the tc pro and ultra models. Graco has stated that both of these are in fact the same sprayer just different name and the same components. The only difference between the 2 is the spray tips that come with each are different. Other than that it's all the same.
As a professional painter, I think you did an outstanding job with this review! I also agree that the Pro Ultra is the way to go. I’m actually considering purchasing one for smaller jobs, so that I don’t have to break out my larger airless. I can really see the benefit of having one. Good job, dude!👍
It’s a great sprayer, used it for repaint furniture to flip and omg the freedom you get having it cordless and the speed is incredible. Took 40 minutes to prime with paint roller and brush vs only taking less then 5 Minutes with this sprayer! Thankful I found this sprayer new in the box on offerup for $370
Fuji mini mite 3 for the win, it’s only $120 more. I have been using it with Target Coatings pigmented lacquer and the results have been unreal for diy “prosumer”
I have one of the cheaper models and found out the flaws pretty quickly after painting my first project and being limited to the one tip size. For $600 I’ll buy two handheld HVLP(one for water one for oil) which have a variety of tip options @ $100 ea and a bigger airless sprayer like the magnum for big projects which again has a variety of tip options. Yes they have cords but like you said these small sprayers aren’t designed for big projects so you really shouldn’t have an issue with dragging the cord through wet paint bc you’ll only be painting a couple cabinets or a furniture piece. I really don’t get the philosophy of use of these cordless models especially at their price point. I bought the DS after you recommended it and was disappointed in the purchase after I found out about tip limitations so I wanted to make sure and leave this comment and hopefully save someone else the heartache
I have the professional airless sprayer, that cost me only $399 last year. I can run a full gallon of paint as set up, or simply make some adjustments, and run a full 5 gallon can. And because you aren't holding the paint and battery, but just the gun and hoses, it is not hard on the arms. You literally can paint 30 houses with this thing, with no replacement of parts, so long as you do the regular maintenance. Wagner also puts out a pretty cheap version of the same I have, you just have to manually add oil to the pump in the same area you put the paint.
Kudos to those who have had good luck with these. I will say I did not have luck with the tc pro or ultra pro. Paid $1,000 between both of them and ended up selling both and purchasing a Fuji q4 for the same price and couldn’t be happier. The gracos always were very finicky with the priming, , losing prime and I didn’t like the adjustability. A $50 fflp tip if you want to change how much or little you want to spray vs a spray gun that has those adjustments built in. Graco could do this with their guns but they would be losing money on tips. Just my .02
I want one for spraying windows or msybe the occasional couple doors. Doesn’t make since for doing any walls or ceilings because you could easily just cut and rolls those. Obviously for large amounts of wall and ceiling surfaces or lots of doors a regular airless sprayer is the only choice. I must say thou if your only painting a room and you want a nice finish on a couple doors or couple windows then this would be awesome
Great review! I have the Ultra for a while now and using it for painting cabinets and rooms (no a whole house at time). Your pros and cons are spot on. Two additional points: Storage I like how the compact it is not eating up garage/shop space. Also for the weight, I use two arms/hands ... one supporting paint reservoir and other on the handle. I find this helps in keeping paint sprayer in a better position and thus a more consist finish.
9:00 Thanks! This is great advice (about not using it outdoors). I wonder what do people do to paint a barn or fence? My barn has vertical grooves that are just impossible to fill with a hand brush. The fence is not a problem, except that it's just a ton of saying to yourself, "paint the fence, Daniel Sun" for hours.
This first job I did with one of these was a 200’ x 17’ wall mural (I’m a mural artist) and I used two of them, alternating. Worked out awesome. Cleaning it and changing colors does take forever, and I literally got a terrible case of tennis elbow at one point for using it too much. I still use them all the time though, and have Popeye forearms 😜🦾
Excellent video very thorough. I appreciated you giving the model numbers and having the pictures to back up your comments and very knowledgeable of the product 5⭐ liked and subscribed!
I've gotta agree that the Ultra is the better option. What I really like is how little paint you disturb (buy and put into gun). I really like that you can buy a cap, additional bags and carrier and store the unused paint for later (like the next coat or two) or (like the next days work) - less waste and I really don't want to put unused paint back into the original container or throw it out. With the Ultra using the pro tips, this is the best of all world for smaller jobs like one room trim on paint your home one room at a time, putting the room back, and moving to the next room.
my boss painted the outside of his 5400sqft house with the ultra model, had 5ah dewalt batteries on it. Not one problem or shut off. This thing is a certified beast, those cabinets ain't shit for it lol.
I’m a union painter in California thanks for the review I think it’s great because for my personal opinion I’ve got a little Graco 390 and yes I’d rather much use that than one of those handheld battery operated ones just due to the fact that it probably takes the same amount of time to clean plus I got a smaller line on it and I can run a quart of paint in my no problem but great info.
Thank you so much! I just bought (this evening)the model in this video … I think I’m gonna take your advice and return it back at Lowe’s and order the pro on Amazon
If you want to spray stain or oil based paint, you have to add a grounding cord to your cordless sprayer hence taking away the cordless feature and scratching your head, why Graco? Couldn’t Graco come up with a solution for spraying stain other than a corded cordless? I was thinking that a floating ground strap around the waist should essentially work. No ground with oil paint or stain gives you continuous shocks. Fun!
Thanks for the honest review...I've been doing a lot of research on sprayers. As of right now...for a handheld sprayer. I'm going to buy the Graco Ultra Max, but I'm not sure what cart sprayer I'm going to buy.. I paint about 5-7 houses per year. I would love to get some feedback on suggestions you might have....thanks Ed
Man, I have the corded one, and I've shot three full rooms and repainted my entire house outside and stained the whole fence too. I always rinse, then again with soapy water and flush with the blue rinse pump saver for storage. Even the cheap corded model is 100% better than any Wagner sprayer any day! If mine dies, I'll just get another corded one.
Got the TC Pro. Same complaints/compliments. One difference: I've used to paint a whole room. No problems there. One huge difference you didn't mention: the Ultra can be used with oil-based latex whereas the Pro is only (exclusively) recommended for water-based paints.🍻
I bought an Ultra a year ago after using the corded version a few years. Having the ability to use different tips is a huge plus after you figure out which tip sizes work best for what application. I called Graco customer service and spoke to them about the TC Pro vs the Ultra. Even though they are all almost exactly the same, the TC Pro is the one you will find at big box stores. The Ultra is almost exclusively sold through contractor paint suppliers. Sherman Williams even has their own version called the Ultimate.
Add a comment... It is. one more thing that nobody seems to be mentioning is this guns pump was not designed for the long haul. Proof of that are the serviceable plastic ball springs that are not really serviceable. Whether it be a hex screw or Philips it doesn't matter. the pressure required to remove them will strip them. Same goes for the ball spring housing behind the tip. It's also made of plastic. There's no way to remove it without tearing it up.
Just ordered mine. Got a couple jobs coming up where I need to paint some base but I don't want to lug around the big paint sprayer. Excited to see how it goes!
Great review. I almost purchased the ultra to paint some trim thinking it would be faster and easier than my low end magnum airless. Instead I ended up just painting with my HVLP which isn't as light as my airless but it is far easier to clean. I think the most attractive feature of the graco pro/ultra is the fact that you don't need as much material because there aren't any lines. My magnum uses nearly a quart of paint just to get it to the gun.
Great video. Thank you for the honest review. I was on the fence between the 2. I already have the ProX19 and use the FFLP tips, so this was a concern. Because of your review I went with the Ultra.
Ultra is deffo the one to choose. Here in Oz the replacement pumps are almost as much as the sprayer! Annoys me also that I can't buy a "skin" .. more Dewalt chargers and batteries are not needed by everyone (including me). I've put off buying the Ultra about 3 times now .. waiting for the idea job. Got a bunch of doors and door frames to paint soon so it just may be time.
I have a TC Pro that I bought at the beginning of the year for small projects. I like that it is easy to clean up in the kitchen sink, I don't need to use a hose outside. But the tool is perfect for trim and doors (small projects as you mentioned). It throws some Behr premium latex which is some of the thickest paint I have ever seen (you can thin with floetrol but I did both and honestly it does not need it).
Great video! I have the cheaper handheld corded model and the X5 and love them both. I however didn't know the cheaper hand held model only had a useable 10 gallon life, but still love it for my DIY use.
I purchased the Graco Pro shot Fine Finish when they first came out back in approximately 2012. I paid $750 Canadian from Sherwin Williams. It came with replacement pump kit. It has been the biggest waste of money ever. The battery life is good and they charge quickly once dead that’s the only good thing I can say about this unit. The main fault is the paint container pick up, it is a rigid pipe and any slight angle off vertical and you lose prime. It’s impossible to use the full reservoir of paint, the supplied spray tips clog easily and spit paint leaving big blobs you have to rub out once dry and then redo the whole frickin job again. The adjustable pressure knob does jack. The gun won’t spray unless it’s maxed out. Cleaning is a pain and even with pump armour pushed through it, if it sits for a while it’s a tear down to get it clean and running again. I bought this to save me time and energy for a good finish on my home reno trim work and it’s been the bane of my life. Oh how I wish I’d purchased a different brand of sprayer in the portable style. So save your money people. Do some research before handing over your hard earned cash. Also the weight of these things is ridiculous, carpal tunnel syndrome here we come. Graco make great HVLP spray equipment the type you place over a 5 gallon pail but these portable cordless are crap. These were designed to push approximately 100 gallons of paint through them in their lifetime hence the replacement pump parts which was a selling feature at the time of purchase. If you don’t get the pump replacement parts as a special there cost isn’t worth the repair and the guns a throw away at best. My other spray gun unit is an el-cheapo Wagner. It puts out at over 2000 psi and the spray gun is a delight to use. Superior finish and easier to clean. If it did have a down side it’s the over spray it makes but I’ll suffer that any day than having to resand and repaint a job because of a shitty spray gun.
Save your money $$$ don’t buy this Sprayer. I owned the 2 different versions over the past two years and both of them are disposable.. Also I purchased the replacement pump and it crapped out within two days after being used. I have to agree with the comment here… just buy the cheapest version you can get and once it stop working just get a new one.
So you are comparing a 2021 model to a first run gun from 2012? Might as well compare Streaming TV to old school on the roof antenna's. You sound grouchy about your oll sprayer. I own 8 sprayers of various sizes and sorts, have used the ULTRA extensively, and in the right hands, it's a very. very reliable and helpful and fast production tool to have, for all the positive reasons stated. Of course, one needs to be "positive" to get the most out of something... This model is Super easy to clean (just turn it upside down under a faucet), super easy to use, the paint pickup system allows you to even spray upside down, it's light if you use a 32 oz cup and a 1.5 Mah battery, it does not spit (it's like a clean shot), I could go on and on....Most people having problems are probably due to user error, spraying the wrong product with the wrong tips, keeping it running too long and burning out the motor, etc. For small to medium jobs, I go to my Ultramax more often then my Titan 440's and have been able to eliminate HVLP from my arsenal.
@@carlosj8769 Not in my experience and I've done both. Properly used, the Ultra/TC Pro series middle range gun is fantastic to use, and durable as long as it's used properly and for it's appropriate applications. (baseboards, door frames, crown, doors, furniture, cabinets, built ins, fantastic for small ceilings, (takes 5 minutes to set up and 5 to clean) small exterior areas, etc)
@@HabsandExposFan Well aren’t you the lucky one then. I have spoken from my experiences with this gun. I doubt very much you can use it upside down as you can only have one suction point for paint without losing prime. If you are so positive it can be done please produce a video and show the world how it’s done. Graco haven’t changed this model much. The pump is virtually the same as the early ones. There maybe a few little tweaks here and there but that’s it. Anyways I’m not going to debate you on this as I don’t have either the time or the inclination to prove myself right and you wrong. So let me wish you a good and happy spraying.
FWIW, the Ultra handhelds are WAY easier and faster to clean than a traditional airless sprayer...way easier and way quicker. And you can basically do a good job cleaning it with about a gallon of water, as opposed to about 10 gallons in a traditional airless. Night and day.
Yes, I've run about 6 gallons of kilz2 through my TC Pro without issue. Just make sure you get the tip with the maximum orifice size, .016. kilz recommends a .017 but the .016 did just fine and I didn't have to thin it out at all, just played with the pressure settings until I was happy with the spray pattern.
I have the same corded sprayer you have, my only concern is spraying poly. it comes out so runny, but one pass and and a chip brush for the corners. let it set and it was good to go. Any tips on that?
@@anrwhitehead you have to change the tip guard, the op noted he has the same painter as is used in the post, so yes, he can use the green tips, with the blue guard.
Bought a Ultra last week based on your previous videos. I'm going to be building your shop cabinets soon and this looks like the way to go to paint them. Also I've bought a couple sets of your build plans now and they are amazing.
Years ago I used to have the old Graco Rotoflow centrifugal sprayer and painted a couple of my houses and fences with it. I found it way superior to any of the nozzle sprayers. Smooth, quiet, worked with any kind of paint, and easy to clean. I thought it was strange that Graco stopped making it.
I have the DSP 360 corded model. For small jobs, it will work just fine. I did use it to paint a ranch rail fence around my 2 acre yard. Ugh. Then I used it to help my son paint the exterior of his house. Double ugh. The clean up on this sprayer is a nightmare. Latex paint sticks like crazy, so get Goof Off to get as much dried paint off as possible. For small jobs, I much prefer my HVLP with a metal gun. Clean up is MUCH faster on the HVLP unit, hands down. Due to the amount of money I spent on the DSP 360, I'll keep using it, but I'll probably upgrade my HVLP system to a four stage unit, damnt he cost. I regret buying the Graco sprayer now...
I got one of these units over a year ago, and I'm pretty positive that both the TC Pro and Ultra are exactly the same unit (granted different labels). TC Pro is just the one sold at Home Depot (and maybe also other big box stores) and the Ultra sold elsewhere, like their own website, and other more specialty stores. I guess my point is that the Ultra is not really better built or anything like that, it should be the exact same unit from what I remember when doing my research. Yes, it is true that the tips are different, but that's probably really the only main difference. TC Pro was designed more as a pre-packaged unit and hence came with its own proprietary tips, where as the Ultra used the traditional ones. However, even then, I still thought you could interchange them regardless. But you can fact-check me on that very last comment, regarding interchangeability.
Have you ever been to car wash. Pressure washer hose swings from ceiling. Easy fix to use corded sprayer and not dragging throught paint. Great video, i will never buy cordless for that price to have extra weight in my hand
I just picked up a Graco Truecoat 360. Really wish I hadn't. I bought it to replace the 2 stage HVLP for painting cabinets/trim, tired of having to thin paint and deal with the ramifications of that. Wish I had bought the Ultra just for the FFLP tips. I didnt realize the Truecoat only used Truecoat tips. It's better than brushing and rolling for a smooth finish but isn't even comparable to a FFLP tip or even a x13 tip from my regular airless. Oh well, guess you live and learn and are just out $250. I wonder why they dont make a x13 tip for the Truecoat, or FFLP tips for it.
Thanks for your review. I don’t own any Dewalt Batteries and don’t plan on doing a bunch of painting. I’ve been thinking of buying a paint sprayer. I seen your last review on the corded version. I think the I’m going with Truecoat 360 VSP The corded version.
A good old Roller and brush are cordless as well and do not require hours of cleaning and when used by skillful hands produce a finish as good as any sprayer.
Good review...pretty much nailed all the good and bad points. I have an ultra and it does come in handy for smaller jobs. Overall, I think if these were a couple hundred bucks cheaper they would be worth the money. You would be better off buying a lower end airless from a box store or just rent one. One thing that wasn't touched on is if you have the unit that can spray flammable materials, you have to use a grounding cord or else you'll feel a shock while using it. That pretty much defeats the purpose of cordless convenience...you may as well buy the corded version.
You are right, expensive it is. Cordless sprayer ?????? It should have a DeWalt name on it, DeWalt tools are pricey. Around 2-3 yrs ago I was watching as I always do, one of The Handyman's videos on TH-cam where he was about to spray these high dollar custom kitchen cabinets he had built using for the first time a Home Right Max sprayer. A disaster in the makings I thought. No way didn't happen, the job turned out to be perfect. They were selling on Amazon for$119 so I ordered one on sale for $99.00 with all the goodies that came with it. I use quite often big jobs to sm jobs, never not once had a problem and cleaning is a wiz. All pros no cons.
@@misanthropic_anthropoid_6660 Well it was mdf and i thinned materials and sprayed thin and thick and tried like 5-6 different attempts changing tips etc anyways a hvlp turbine sprayer layed down nice and flat
Did you thin the paint before painting your cabinets? Did you get some kind of low vicosity paint or just the average paint from Lowes/Homedepot? Thanks
Or for $200 you can get a lighter more powerful unit that is more versatile. Graco Magnum 257025 Project Painter Plus Paint Sprayer. The only way the handheld sprayers are beneficial is if all you do is small projects like trim work or need to swap out multiple colors faster without a longer cleaning process but mainly having small containers with multiple colors on the fly. The should of put the paint above the wrist and forearm like some of the othe brands to reduce fatigue but it come at a price of having a awkward time swapping containers. For the price of the small one most home users can save more than half that and get the bigger machine; they also have the x5 for $100 more than the painter plus. Just things to think about.
Hi. Id like your advice, please. I just invested in a house fixer upper. I'm to do small projects. Need to paint outside house, one or two rooms. I'm not a painter at all. But time is a thing. I'm looking for something compact, inexpensive, does a relatively good job, no overspray! Thanks in advance
Ahhh’…confused on final recommendation at 10:06 you don’t recommend….then later at 11:12 you recommend? So, is this clear yes or no for recommendation? Otherwise, great overall review!
That Skillshare commercial was great thanks for the video but I got a big ass room to paint so I'll get the corded model plus a I have Milwaukee tools and I'm fed up with battery chargers.
I need to stain my log cabin, first time we hand brushed it all because it was the first staining. Which one of these would you recommend? Both corded and cordless. We used the Cabot's mahogany flame stain.
Would something like this work to spray Duratex? It seems to normally be used in HVLP sprayers, this looks like a direct stand in if I do not want to mess with an air compressor.
Great and helpful video. Looking to paint inside of RV, not a massive job but not small, what do you think? I have X5 but was concerned about cleanup because RV is parked in friends back yard and don't want to make a mess with buckets of water.
Can you compare this in a reply to the corded version and longevity? What about DIY home improvement? Should you expect the corded version to last? Thanks.
Great Review! Was thinking of buying this to paint my room but I guess not anymore! Plus I love your Rogue shirt!! Have you done any home gym review videos? Which Rogue Power Rack did you get?
How much paint does it eat priming the pump? Love my big spray rig but spraying urethane enamels gets super expensive cause it takes like 1/2 gallon to prime the damn rig. And at $100+ a gallon that really adds up
What if I want to paint a room or house with a paint sprayer but as cheap or cheaper then this? Does it not exist is it just a expensive paint prayer like wand with a pump etc which I can paint rooms with? And if so should I just stick to a £20 roller and paint tray
Wow impressive!
Try doing that multiple times. Lol. It won’t last, they are rated for how many gallons they can spray before issues. You might check that out. And oh the last thing you want when spraying is weight at the gun.
@@shaynesabala chill out negative Nancy
I'm gonna do my fence, hopefully it does ok
@@shaynesabalawhy would he repaint his interior multiple times ?
Just bought this unit to paint some shed siding and other small projects. So far I'm very impressed, makes easy work of t111 shed siding. It's a bit of a paint hog with overspray but the time savings in worth it. I am heavily invested in the Milwaukee m18 battery system and wasn't crazy about now adding a Dewalt cordless tool. I spend about $21 on Amazon and got a Milwaukee-to-Dewalt adapter to use on the paint sprayer and it works great. Sold both Dewalt batteries and the charger for $100.
Thank you for your adaptor advice
I just did a whole room with this sprayer, 2 of the walls were taken up by a window/closets but I am so happy I decided to do it with this
That skill share sounds great.
Your wrong. The difference is that you can spray oils inn the ultra it comes with anti shock or something
EXCELLENT VIDEO...

The right tool for the right job...
I painted my whole exterior of my house also with the VSP. It worked out great no overheating or any problems at all.
Which one is this VSP you talked about please?
One of the biggest benefits I've seen for these vs the larger units is the amount of paint that's needed to even use it. The larger airless go through paint really quick. It takes almost a half gallon just to prime up the system of my large airless. A gallon of paint won't get you very far and then there's still around a 1/3 of the can left when the pickup tube is pretty much useless. These are great if you have a small project and just have a quart of paint to do it.
Yes! I should have mentioned that
Do you have 1000 foot hose on it?
I have an x5 and when I want to do a small job I have to almost buy an extra gallon because of this. It also sucks to clean when it’s cold out.
I paint for a living and use it for trim and doors all the time
Hi just since you paint for a living I have a mobile home what would be the best way to paint it paint gun sprayer roll it or paint brush ?
“If something has wet paint on it, I’m going to touch it” 😂 had to pause the video to subscribe/comment, that is me 100%
I use to work for GRACO, as a Draftsman back in the 70's, in Northeast Minneapolis, MN.
You ca use the Graco green fflp tips and rac x tips on the tc pro too. I have both units.
@@Mowers11 yes. I can't wait to get mine. It's going to be a great spray system
Good to know! I didn’t realize that
As a professional painter, I think you did an outstanding job with this review! I also agree that the Pro Ultra is the way to go. I’m actually considering purchasing one for smaller jobs, so that I don’t have to break out my larger airless. I can really see the benefit of having one. Good job, dude!👍
This is a great sprayer, do not lose any of the parts for this sprayer. I cannot find any parts for this.

Great honest review that I think all of us like!
À
Great review, always enjoy your videos.
Lotta help with my decision man great vid!
Nice weapon for Splatoon 3
Excellent review that answered all my questions. TY
my boss painted the outside of his 5400sqft house with the ultra model, had 5ah dewalt batteries on it.
Man, I have the corded one, and I've shot three full rooms and repainted my entire house outside
and stained the whole fence too.
The Ultra goes for about 650 these days. But, how long does the pump last ? At $200 a pop, this thing sounds like a money pit.
This is what a good review looks like. Logical breakdown of things and no hype. Great job!
Great review. Also, love the cicada sounds in the background! LOL
I’ve used the ultra. Only complaint is cleanup with enamels. Jobs I’ve done take less time than cleaning the thing lol
FWIW, the Ultra handhelds are WAY easier and faster to clean than a traditional airless sprayer...way easier and way quicker. And you can basically do a good job cleaning it with about a gallon of water, as opposed to about 10 gallons in a traditional airless. Night and day.
Does it handle Killz and other thick primers well?
Yes, I've run about 6 gallons of kilz2 through my TC Pro without issue. Just make sure you get the tip with the maximum orifice size, .016. kilz recommends a .017 but the .016 did just fine and I didn't have to thin it out at all, just played with the pressure settings until I was happy with the spray pattern.
I have the same corded sprayer you have, my only concern is spraying poly. it comes out so runny, but one pass and and a chip brush for the corners. let it set and it was good to go. Any tips on that?
You need to use the green Graco green fine finish tips and a blue guard.
@@mrljvb the green tips don't fit in the corded version, it only has a 4" and 12" tip
@@anrwhitehead you have to change the tip guard, the op noted he has the same painter as is used in the post, so yes, he can use the green tips, with the blue guard.
I had one but it got thrown in the garbage, got a high end HVLP from Earlex and are getting great finishes on my projects and house cabinets.
Tough to beat an HVLP sprayer
@@ShopNation Especially when my company buys it with gift cards for doing my job.
Great review, awesome dude!
Great video, this solves it for me. Gotta have one now!
I must buy one of these for spot painting on ropes.
What tip do you recommend to paint 6-1/2 baseboards?
Great choice
@@ShopNation Question: is the Graco Truecoat 360 VSP considered an HVLP sprayer? I want to could I use it for Lacquer,Polyurethane or Varnish as well.
A good old Roller and brush are cordless as well and do not require hours of cleaning and when used by skillful hands produce a finish as good as any sprayer.
Hours of cleaning?
Horse and Buggy used to work just fine too, who needs a car...Different ways, for different jobs. Or, people. :)
Try that shit on roof coating shingles for high angle Victorians and get back to me.
Did you not test this sprayer for it's heat threshold?
I got one of those too, for the same reason. Orange peel factory
@@ThaGreatestAlexander But orange peel isn’t a sprayer issue, it’s a substrate issue.
@@misanthropic_anthropoid_6660 Well it was mdf and i thinned materials and sprayed thin and thick and tried like 5-6 different attempts changing tips etc
anyways a hvlp turbine sprayer layed down nice and flat
Just things to think about.
just got one at lowes yesterday(tc pro - non ultra) , for some reason they were on clearance for 230.00!!!! thats well over half off.
Great review Travis. I just picked up the 360 DS based on my needs, budget and your previous review. Thanks for these!
Ahhh’…confused on final recommendation at 10:06 you don’t recommend….then later at 11:12 you recommend? So, is this clear yes or no for recommendation? Otherwise, great overall review!
I do recommend the sprayer but I actually recommend the other version (Ultra) versus the Tc Pro that I have. They are almost identical
would recommend for daily use since i have a business making bedroom sets ? wich would only by used on black and white paints ,?
Thank you so much. I was looking into the depot tc pro. I rather buy the ultra so I can use those better tips.
That Skillshare commercial was great thanks for the video but I got a big ass room to paint so I'll get the corded model plus a I have Milwaukee tools and I'm fed up with battery chargers.
What types of paints can you use in these? E.G. The Rustoleum all in one /no sanding type paints for cabinets. Thanks!
What about for staining a fence. My fence is too far away for my extension cord to reach? I have seen some good results when they are close to a plug.
