Thxs for the clip, I chose to cut the thermistor wire leaving a 100mm tail and soldered the new thermistor this not having to reroute the wires. Works a treat!
@@rothburger to do this properly, you still need to remove the cover - which is the fiddliest part of the job. So whether you cut the wire and solder it or replace the wire totally is up to you. I personally decided to replace the wire because the joins are another two points where water can potentially get in and corrode them. Cheers, Andrew
Yes it’s definitely a mission! You need to work your way around the base and maybe gently pry it out with a couple of screwdrivers. The plastic shell is fairly forgiving if you’re careful. Cheers, Andrew
Good video, though no need to pull the fridge apart like shown. Working right way up with compressor cover removed and Compressor lowered a couple of inches. Use a hot metal tube to burn thru the plastic behind the compressor, thru to the evaporator. Adhere new thermistor to the evaporator. Cover with spray foam and silicon. No need to expose or recover the original thermistor. About 2 - 3 hours effort. Did this when my CF50 was 10yo and now at 20yo its gone again. Thermistor is the Waeco weakest link.
Tony, do you have a photo of where exactly you put the new thermistor on the evaporator? I'd be keen to see how its done as I'm not keen on pulling the entire fridge apart if its not needed. Cheers and thanks
@@jasoncork5868 I cant add pics to this thread. happy to send you some pics if you provide an email address. I won't be pulling mine apart again for a few weeks so limited pics but might help. note that the duty cyle changes if you attach the thermistor to the evaporator though it works just fine.
I bought it from Everything Caravans. Here is the link to the thermistor + paste: www.everythingcaravans.com.au/products/thermistor-for-waeco-portable-fridge-cf18-60-thermister-with-thermal-paste Cheers, Andrew

Good idea Paul. Cheers, Andrew
I thought that would of been the obvious way👍🏻👍🏻 how many wires was it???

Seriously struggling to get the base off, mission alright. Any tips, tool suggestions?

Hi Tony, Good idea, thanks for sharing. I agree, the thermistor is definitely the weakest link with these fridges. Cheers, Andrew

Can you send me a link to where you got the replacement thermostat? I cannot find one online. Thank

Thanks for sharing, might try just cut through the bottom. Was it just 2 wires on the thermistor?
Hi Justin, Yes it's just two wires. Cheers, Andrew
They designed it to make access nearly impossible. I don't understand how you got the cover off
True. I suppose it's built to a price and not designed to be repairable. Getting the cover off IS a mission! Lots of patience needed. Cheers, Andrew
Chinese made waeco for ya
That compressor loves being upside down.
I didn't really have a lot of other options. Cheers, Andrew
