thankyou! I fixed my car fridge (mine is a XTM brand not Waeco, very similar in design. Its only 5 years old was gonna throw it out (depressing!). thought i would have one last look. 90 per cent similar to yours but the themistor was in a difference place, was able to pull it out, along with a bit of water that came out of the hole. Tested the thermistor and it is ok, put it back in the hole where it came from and it appears to be working fine. Something to do with the water? Maybe causing a short in the thermistor??? Without your video i would not have attempted the fix it! You have saved me $$$$$$$$$ plus it is my secret beer fridge in the shed !!!!!! thanks heaps. Chris, Coffs Harbour, Australia. (I have subscribed)
I’ve got a XTM fridge as well that is constantly freezing. Did you end up buying a new thermostat etc even though you didn’t use it. I was chasing a model number to buy for mine. Cheers
glad to see you fixed your fridge but if you have more issues you can do what I did I have a CF50 that is of a similar vintage and bounced around most of Australia but it became a bit unreliable with bad connections I ended up replacing all the electronics with a tiny module from eBay for $12.99 Temperature Controller Digital Thermostat Module Temperature Control Switch A5R6 (363007010239) it comes with a thermistor, just a couple of connections to the compressor, very easy it's just a temp controlled relay and the fridge compressor is very reliable
Great video, as usual😎 I have a cf 40 which has initially same problem, keept constantly cooling. I went to a repair shop and had a chance to see how they repair it. They cut a.little rectangular opening into the bottom underneath close to the sticker. The sensor must be situated there. One might be able to pull out the thermistor with a little rope attached to pull in the replacement?! The probe sits in a thermal cake. Should be an easy job for a routined DIY...For the moment I pluged in a new thermistor into the control panel on top and slinged the cable underneath the lid. It worked! But now I have another problem, the box doesn't run any longer on 12V, only on mains 220V. Any ideas?
@@BusedAsNZ previous owner of the rig cut off the original plug and installed an Anderson plug, so no, no fuse in the line...but the Anderson plug plugs into an national Luna battery box, should be fused. All fuses in the box are ok, checked it. Most likely the pcb is faulty, but why does it still work on mains? Temperature panel, buttons for temperature adjustment - all works fine on mains. Got to open the box, was hoping somebody might have a hint😎May need to put in one of these 20 bugs temperature controller but then I will loose capability to run it on mains, bugger
@@franks2354 Yeah weird it still works on mains. Kinda suggests it is something really simple in the 12V circuit, but where to find that little simple thing...
Hi. I have Waeco CDF35 with the same problem. On AliExpress there are many Thermistors with different resistance ( 3950 5K, 3950 10K, 3950 15K......., 3470 5K, 3435 10K). Which of them I should buy?
Hi, mine is a 3950 10K, which I think is probably the most common, not 100% sure the difference between the numbers but the resistance (10K) is the bit that matters for calculating temperature
Your troubleshooting skills are impeccable. Most likely due to the rogue hops. Nice job mate.
Thanks 👍
You R magic Brother!
I love your logic and the way you share it.

Nice one, I did actually have a quick look on ebay but never came across that. Very cool and great value
"As fresh as a dip in the wine hack" I'm from the USA. What does this mean?
I have CDF-16 and its not working in normal use, working at emergency use only any advice please, thanks
I would check the battery first, it will shut off if the voltage gets too low. Otherwise maybe the thermostat
@@BusedAsNZ thanks, I will try

Hmm haven't seen that, not sure. But if it runs on mains I guess the compressor is fine. Does it have a fuse in the plug perhaps, or damaged lead?

If you're gonna drink lots of beers whilst poking a screwdriver across electrical contacts, shouldn't you first plug the fridge into 240?
