I just bought a supposedly good working Waeco 50...It was pretty evident after switching it on I also had a thermistor problem with the temp reading way out and compressor not switching off. After watching your video I had a quick check for another way into the unit without drilling a hole. What I decided to do was remove the interior light and carefully made a small channel into the back of it where it slides into the main body of the unit. I luckily had spare thermistors that only cost about $3 each here that are the correct ohms from cheap digital temp switch relays I use as safety shut down relays on my gen sets. They plug straight into the Waeco control board. I fed the end through one of the two already present square holes in the light fitting. The wires fit into the slot I made the light slides straight back in place and thermistor end comes out the bottom of the light fitting. Working perfectly and tucks in nicely under the basket. So thanks for the idea of putting it inside the unit rather than all the effort required to put them in the original position
Just curious, did you happen to look around in the motor compartment of the fridge and see if there was a spare thermistor factory installed? Almost all of the waeco fridges have a second one if you have a hunt around.

You could try Caravans Plus, the link in the description, as they have parts lists for all the fridges. There are others about as well, but given that Caravans Plus were well priced and delivered quickly, I'd certainly recommend them first off.
This is very ‘high level’ - what type of thermistor, where/how to connect it? I’m about to put $22 mercury bulb thermostat in mine - how would that differ from this solution?

I bought a Waeco CF-50 cheap, as is... when I plug it in, it turns on, and all the controls and LEDs appear to work, but the unit doesn't get very cold, even when set to -18 degrees C. Could this be a thermistor issue, or does it need to be re-gassed? I assume the compressor is OK, as it gets slightly cold...
If cooler freezes too hard, or too weak, then use the control panel, holding down both buttons "+" and "-" and then you will see "A" and temperature adjustments - adjust as needed.

I have two CF50s, the first one is over twenty years old and was a giveaway with my first GU Patrol and still works perfectly. Both have travelled with us into the bush on a regular basis, surviving the rough and tumble of these trips. The fridges are always tied down solidly so that they don't slam up and down when off-road. I think the secret to longevity of any fridge is to keep it running all the time, to ensure that the compressor seals don't dry out. Waeco (now Dometic) fridges have been around for a long time and sold in very large numbers, so like anything that's sold in large numbers, there will always be more reported issues. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
Absolutely wrong and I even say a stupid solution - never do what this guy advices!!! First of all you need to have ability to remove the white insert to clean he bottom! Second, if your Dometic CoolFreez CX or other has a faulty Thermistor - then just order it for $8 and replace it - 15 minutes work. Most will need to buy this "Dometic 4450001983 NTC Thermistor ASM", it has the same 2 pin connector as all WAECO or Dometic. You may also use a "Dometic 3851210025 Replacement RV Refrigerator Thermistor" but int this case, you may need to preface the connector, as it is little bit bigger (use connector front the original faulty one)... If you have done the replacement of Thermistor (in its original place) and temperature is incorrect, if cooler freezes too hard, then use the control panel, holding down both buttons "+" and "-" and then you will see "A" and temperature adjustments - adjust as needed.

Good idea about useing the light fitting. I'm about to do my fridge and was thinking about deleting the useless light altogether.

If you hold the + and - buttons down for a few seconds, you can adjust the measured temperature display. @Australian Image

What were the symptoms of your fridge before you fixed it?
With mine I put a self tapping srew in the stubs of the lid when it failed, works great and I can still swap the lid to one side or the other 🙂👍🏼
