- AC/DC performing live at Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, Michigan, USA on November 18, 1983 during the Flick Of The Switch tour.
TV broadcast AI upscaled. The version from Plug Me In is overdub. These are the undubbed songs (minus You Shook Me All Night Long)
I read on acdcfans.net that this show was broadacast on MTV, I don't know if it was complete or just these songs. Maybe it was recorded for some promos (Nervous Shakedown was recorded in this arena). It is believed that both nights were recorded. Either way these are the only songs that have ever surfaced. Attached with this post comes the original Nervous Shakedown video clip ( • AC/DC - Nervous Shaked... ). I have to thank Tyler for sending me this one. ( / @highvoltagerocknroll )
About You Shook Me All Night Long: the version released on Backtracks has it's vocals overdub with the studio version. I made myself a new vocal track for the performance. It's not perfect, not the original, it's Brian's voice but from another gig. I believe it is more credible than having a studio vocal track. This song usually was played instead of T.N.T. so, my guess is that this was a 2nd encore (after For Those About To Rock), as you can listen Angus coming from a intro solo, that was cut for some reason. To top it of, I put together a few clips from the gig to mimic an actual performance.
00:00 - 01) Guns for Hire
04:50 - 02) Sin City
09:57 - 03) This House is on Fire
13:10 - 04) Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution
17:16 - 05) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
21:34 - 06) Let There Be Rock
32:34 - 07) T.N.T.
36:02 - 08) For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)
42:42 - 09) You Shook Me All Night Long (new overdub)

I was there. Age 14. A kid’s dream come true!
They made the early 80s! It might have just been music, but as FTATR begins, and the field cannons start to rise, I just remember going nuts!
Me too. I was 15. We weaseled our way down to second row and am in this video !
Shoulda gonna the 78 Tour at 8 instead....Brian Johnson absolutely sucked live...made the band real slow and boring...78 ..best tour...rip Bon
MAN!!! I wanted to go but I was 12 and my mom wouldn't let me go with my 19 year old brother. I cried and cried. I got home from school that next Monday and he left me a concert shirt on my bed for when I got home. Those old school mid forearm baseball jersey style with the Flick of the switch cover on the front, and Angus on Brians shoulders on the back and it said 'The Switch is on'
They were on fire that night, anytime cameras were there , they went up to 11 😈🎸🎸💯🔥
The amount of energy this band had in the 70`s and 80`s is unreal
Incredible.
the time was more.. powerful in terms of music, music bands. Now its more quiet huh
Electric the crowd was. Energized by the band .Saw them on this tour as well as For Those About to Rock tour and Back in Black tour.
d r u g s
@@Stephen-OldBadGamerwhat this one a accusations from you!! dont judge people as you wish..if likes this your mind, better you be a sosej😂
I saw them in 2000 and they still had the same energy!
God bless him Angus put every ounce of his soul and body into that Gibson and you could feel every note he played, never another guitarist and another band like ACDC.. I went to see them in 91 on the Razors edge tour in Dublin, I hadn't listened to them a lot or was majorly into them, went with a friend, they played for 2 and half hours, and they fuckin blew me away, I'll never forget that gig.. After that gig I bought every album since and before and a massive fan ever since, that doesn't happen often. Power age my fav album...RIP Malcolm and Bon...
Mío igual..👍,...es el mejor..creo..
Oh yeah Powerage!!
Same here dude. Ballbreaker Tour for me. I've never been the same since. All other bands are opening acts.
you chose wisely.
Saw them with my daughter and she was a fan after 2 songs that is what I call good rock and roll
I was at this concert, 17 years old and it made a lifetime of memories for me! What a great show
That's awesome. Wish I had seen them back then. Do you recall who opened?
I was at this tour in Los Angeles. I was 19 years old
I was also 17 and saw this tour in Kansas City .
@justken1900 my brother was with me, his name is Ken. Small world huh.
Can you hear today? 😂 What a sweet show to be a part of! ❤🤟
I graduated high school in ‘84. What an awesome time to grow up. We got to witness all these great bands in their prime.
84 parties more!
The 80s were magical as a teen....if we had them today, kids would not be messed up.
'83 here, and totally agree!!!
Well maybe. Just get rid of the Fentanol.
Not that many ods
Wow I can't believe how many shows you are bringing back. Good work!
thanks!
I remember vividly when this concert was aired on MTV. The days of everyone having a VCR was scarce and I begged my aunt and uncle to record it for me which they did. I still have the tape to this day. This should have been made into a live album like if you want blood was. I can't believe it was 40 years ago. I hadn't seen the live in Paris movie yet so this was my first seeing of them live. As a 14 year old, I was blown away
I was at this tour 83’ FOTS…Portland Ore… ive said it many times pound for pound greatest power blues/Hard rock live all time. No one turns up the volume live like these guys & every amp they bring into an arena is lit! No dummy amps with this band!
little did the audience know they weren't likely to see a better concert in their lifetime
that solo before guns for hire is something that you cannot express with words. Absolutely magnificent. If I had only been there....
I was in 8th grade when this album came out. When my mom told me I couldn’t go to the concert I did what any 80s teen world do, I snuck out and went lol ⚡️🍻
This tour was the first concert I ever attended at maple leaf gardens in Toronto.I was 11 and I remembered two things the most. The fights in the crowd before the concert started and the smell of weed as soon as AC/DC played the opening riff of the first song and never stopped. When the show was over and the lights came on,all you saw was this huge cloud of smoke in the middle of the arena!
The AC/DC concerts back then were like walking into a huge biker bar.😂
This and Landover 81, are my favorite performances with Brian Johnson 😍
This is phenomenal footage! Really shows what an incredible and life-changing event seeing AC/DC in their prime was. So much energy. They certainly changed my life when I saw them the first time (with Bon Scott) when I was 14 years old in 1979. I was lucky enough to see them twice with Bon and several more times with Brian. Never disappointed!
The promos for Detroit are produced extremely well, in fact they are the best produced 80's material we have outside of Largo '81. Glad to see you doing this gig as well!
Except the ones from 1990
It's not called "Detroit Rock City" for nothing!
Wow i've never seen this before! So much energy, band on fire
Flick of the Switch forever.
I was in the crowd at that show I live in Toledo Ohio I saw ACDC twice that week I saw them in Toledo and I saw them, in Detroit ACDC till this day is still by far the best biggest baddest Hard Rock Band to ever set foot on a stage
I went to both shows also. Seen them 5 times now. First one was highway to hell with bon.
back in the day when the lights in the crowd were lighters, not cell phones !
I saw sombody with a Camera..🤣
And you could turn those Bic lighters up way higher!!!
Bic used to have an adjustable flame. There was a "gear wheel " that allowed it to be turned up. If you removed the stop on the wheel you could have a 2 foot flame 🔥. I looked but didn't see one that high in this video but I KNOW there was one there because I used it before the show and then forgot about it when lighting a cigarette later. Came very close to setting my hair on fire. I was toward the front left main floor at this very show. Fastway opened the show for them. 15 bucks a ticket bought you one FANTASTIC SHOW back in the day.
I loved those days. I still light my Zippo, at concerts. You should see the peculiar looks I get from some people.
I miss that.
Damn it sounds so good. They play so well. So wicked to see Guns for hire live! Amazing. Wish both nights existed with every song.
Nice job thanks!
“We salute you all Detroit” gets me every time, and I’m not even from there. What a great way to end a show.
The Power of AC/DC Live was enough to light an entire City .
I was here when I was 12 with my parents. This was fucking awesome! I seen them 6 years in a row starting with for those about to rock tour, no one like AC/DC imo the greatest rock band ever!
Nice
God, I remember as a 13yo kid recording this of BBC on those old VCR's....i played it to death and accidentally recorded over it....not for 40+ years have I been able to see this again....mad, seeing all those faces in the crowd again....like I knew them from my past!
Classic Brian. In his prime.
Zero charisma and scene playing...bad choice of singer for AC/DC.
@@padovaniroland Bullshit
@@padovanirolandMeth?Pcp?
@@padovanirolandYou're entitled to your opinion, obviously you're talking total shit and millions and millions completely disagree with you. Brian was the best choice for the band,Bon even chose him to replace him in case anything should happen
@@padovaniroland I love Brian. Of course it's not wrong if you don't like him, but I want to know who you think was a better choice
Back then you never go without a bic lighter... If you are planning on going to a concert..
... and they were 50 cents tops
I knew this was on scheduled TV at the time in Britain on an arts TV show called Arena. The whole day at school planning my strategy to petition my parents to stay up late and watch it. From Guns for Hire to For Those About to Rock is was in Nirvana. Cross legged in front of a rented CRT with mono speakers. Blew me outta my tiny 13 year old skull. Was hooked before but this…. This was the cement that bonded me to this band for life. Thank you for uploading and I salute you 🔥🫡🤘
I was on the floor at this show I'm from Toledo Besides the days I became a dad this was the best day of my life. The POWER the greatest band ever
Saw this tour in Boston it was fantastic. Flick of the switch maybe their most underrated album
Congratulations!!! Well done!!! It looks so good!!!! LArgo 81, Detroit 83 &Rio 85 are my favourte ACDC concerts!!!
I recorded this off MTV back in the day. I still have it on VHS somewhere! I've watched this countless times, but this is my first time seeing it without the ads! Love this video!
Is it the full show?
Love hearing/seeing ""Flick of the Switch" tracks live. The success of "Back in Black" made everything that came after it pale in comparison, but I think FotS was one of the best albums of the Brian era, leaving the compressed gloss of the Mutt Lange albums behind and getting back to the raw, Vanda/Young production style. Too bad they pretty much abandoned playing any songs from that album altogether after this tour.
Totally agree
6 first songs on FOTS is awesome and hugely underrated
This was shown on "Late night in concert" in the UK and was my intro to the band..been a massive fan since 1983...
❤❤❤❤❤ I am happy! Thanks😘
Gracias por compartir éste vídeo con aquellos que crecimos escuchando a Barón Rojo desde su comienzo.
Back in the day The Joe was the place. Mingle with Canadians coming over to watch a show. It was great! Most shows I seen where at Pine Knob or The Palace. Seen Green Day at The Joe before they tore it down with my daughter before it got torn down. Iconic place!
Greatest hard rock band of all time 🐐
Love the energy Angus brought to the live shows ❤
Flick of the Switch tour. Wow! Thank You so much for this! It really takes me back.
I was at this show! My fiends mom dropped us off in her van Ha! We were like 13 years old... The Joe Louis Arena smelled "funny"...Killer Show!!! Thanks for posting this 👍
Thank You, That brought back a lot of great memories.
Best Rock band ever
Wow..thank you so much for this man, much much love for all that you do🙏
AC/DC forever
One of the greatest rock shows I've ever been to. Completely blew my young mind!
Incredible. Thank you very much for your work.
Thanks a lot for sharing, greetings from Detroit Rock City!
Thank you for this concert well done 😂
Those stairs were brutal outside.
In 1986 I was 22 years old and I saw them live with my father in Cologne. And in 2015 I saw them live with my 22 years old son.
3 generations saw this unbelievable band and I hope I can see them with my grandson. He is one year old but I think it could be difficult to make this happen.
My dear God. This is absolutely the best Let there be rock they performed on stage. Amazing! And then immediately TNT after it. A dream came true. AC DC the best hard rock band on the planet! RIP Mel & Bon. Long live Angus...
Those days were energized with the best rock music
What a great concert! I wish I was there
I was there! And every tour since!
For the first time watching concerts on TH-cam I can say, "Hey I was there!"
A group of four of us were 5th row, and before the show started, my Lloyd was hit in the back with a knife that some idiot threw from somewhere.
THANK GOD it hit flush, so it didn't stab him. It still left a bruise.
We all still loved the show. Lloyd kept the knife as a reminder of how there are dangers everywhere.
My first introduction to AC/DC after I saw this on MTV. This is the complete concert that was shown.
Priceless
The lights go out and the smoke goes up!!!!! The good old days!!
Pure rock energy. The best.
The best band of the world!!!!!! AC/DC

@DrMattDestruction your mom?
La voce di Brian sembra quasi quella di bon ! È incredibile la sua potenza
Thanks so much....its awesome....keep them coming....
Badass!!!!
FANTASTIC FOOTAGE!
Long live AC/DC
I was there, the first or second concert I ever saw....the 70s bands were still going strong (Aerosmith, Kiss, etc.)...then glam hit the scene shortly thereafter (Motley, Ratt, Def)......pop (MJ, Madonna, anyone on MTV) was even good back then......God I miss the 80s!!!
I was at this show.. thanks for posting.. awesome..
I was 15 saw this show in SF at the cow palace ...so greatful for this video ...
Seen these guys in Seattle in 1982.. three day show😊😁🤗💋..I remember it like it was yesterday 💪⚡🇺🇲😜
I was there too, They were mind blowingly loud! I remember leaving the coliseum not able hear anything & couldn’t feel my legs! It was sensory overload! Best thing i ever witnessed to this day, do you remember standing in line for over 10 hrs! GA back then, i slept in front of the glass doors & was one of the first 100 in the building.
This is one of The Best Live Shows recorded by The Boys in The 80's 💯🔥🎸🎸😈
My first AC/DC concert was Dec. 80 Cincinnati, OH. Riverfront Coliseum BACK in Black tour. I was 15 1/2 Seats were 5.50, 6.50 and Floor seats were 7.50. Amazing! Couldn't believe tickets were that cheap! They had an opener but noone of any notoriety. That Giant bell that Brian banged on to open with "Back in Black"
TY TY I love me some Mal with his right leg just pumpin and singing.. 💋💋
And Brian's voice ..
TY
Awesome job, thank you!!!!
What an amazing performance.
The band literally explodes at the end of TNT.... What a rock n Roll force of nature. Saw them back in 1986 without Malcolm. Stevie (Nephew) took his place. But they were still explosive as hell.
I think Stevie took his place on the Blow Up Your Video Tour in 1988?
@@Simmo_Cars Hmmm Could have been 87-88 when I saw them in Lake Charles LA. Im 55 known cant remember yesterdays date. LOL
@@themayor3263 haha. Yeah I’m sure it was the Blow Up Your Video Tour that Stevie stood in for Malcolm for a while. Although, he may well have stood in for Malcolm for a show in 86 for whatever reason
I attended this tour about a week earlier in Lexington, KY. Outstanding.
For those about to Rock .... FIRE !!!!!
This album and tour, definitely Ac/Dc’s peak! 💪🏻
I was 15 when this show was on MuchMusic, I taped it onto a cassette on my ghetto blaster! Good times!
Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!
SO TIGHT.. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
WHAT A BAND!!!
What a fucking absolute rock and roll machine these cats were!
Detroit was the rock n roll capital of the world back then i saw alot of great bands at Cobo and the Joe thank's Detroit!
All I've got to say is thank you brother.🤘⚡🤘⚡
Thank you for posting!!!!!!!!
LOVE THIS CONCERT FOOTAGE!
Great Work Yet Again
Thank You for the video. Haven't seen this one.
Fantastic!! Thanks so much 🍺
The quintessential rock band. Just when you think they can't rock any harder Brian starts singing.
Brian´s on fire here!
I recently uploaded my own cover of You Shook Me All Night Long and was blocked as the thought it was this track! Omg I'd better go buy a flat cap!
My god, this version of Let There Be Rock is my instant favourite
My ears are still ringing from the Flick of the Switch tour in Atlanta Ga. Too bad it was their last truly killer album.
Thanks for the memories !
This is the year I saw them in Holland for the first time, still have the tourbook somewhere. Great to see what I saw then!
1:40 love the smooth change of direction angus style duck walk. So agile!!
I was at this show at the Joe! That was #4 of the 7 times I've seen Angus and the boyz! Awesome concert!!
Saw an edited version of this on " Late at night with Annie Nightingale " on the BBC back in the day.
This was pre Internet so it was a real rarity.
I taped it and watched it over and over. AC/DC in their absolute prime!!!!
40 years ago I was 19 and saw this and For Those About to Rock a couple years earlier. Seems like yesterday somedays. Rock and Roll !
Great Show and Tour this was . Saw them at the Forum in 1983 at riped age of 16 haha.
Flick of the Switch songs sounded great Live
The dudes singing along to Rock and Roll ain’t noise pollution at 16:22 struck me for some reason. Such a cool genuine moment 🤘🏻🎸
