Welcome to our High Desert Homestead where we inspire the dreamers to make big plans in small spaces! We have lived in four different U.S. States over the past eight years. In that time I learned to cook from scratch, bake with sourdough, and grow gardens wherever we lived. I grew blueberry bushes at a rental where I couldn’t “garden,” I grew tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, beets, radishes and flowers on our apartment balcony, I grew herb gardens in sunny window sills, and began my journey towards growing our homestead on our one acre property here in the high desert.
Let’s learn and grow together wherever we are on our homestead journey!

My daughter and two of my grandkids were is the 4H program when they were in elementary school. They didn't have the option of raising the chicks from eggs like yours do and I think that is really a great learning experience for them. Ours started with 20 day old chicks and they had to raise them just up to the age where they were ready to start egg production and then they had to show six of them at the auction where folks would bid on them and pay way more than what they were really worth, but the monies went back into the program for future students. The remainder they were allowed to keep or sell. We live in a subdivision and really didn't have the room for a larger flock of chickens, so they were sold to local farmers who were happy to buy them as they were not having to spend anything to get them ready to lay, so it was still great for everyone. Love seeing your helpers in the garden planting all those potatoes and the fact that they really seem to enjoy doing that work. They will have the experience and knowledge as to where our food comes from.

What a fun project for the kids; the baby chicks are so precious. I have seen the method of making the sandwich like you did; I need to try that soon. Everything you added to the egg looks really good.

Ok GIRL! I’m doing something around here and here you say “my favorite sandwich ever right now…” or some thing like that, and I look up and watch and oh my goodness! That looks so good! 😋 Definitely going to make that, probably tomorrow! Fun with the chicks. Another adventure! Great video! 🤗🤗🤗
