- Not click bait I swear. I streamed all of my progress in Monster Hunter Rise on PC. from Village to Narwa with the Jaeger, and its just so damn consistent for early game progression .
It has solid stats, great Normal 2s, and Exhaust ammo to boot. If you're trying to get through early game, or want to learn bowguns, this is the perfect place to start.

I was talking to my friend over discord yesterday wondering whether someone would make a LBG video for newbies and here it is! Awesome!
Another fun thing to do with LBG is to use your vault to stick all 3 mines to the monster's back and then detonate them all with Shrapnel ammo. Shrapnel 1 ammo is free in the supply box and... lots of boom! If I can get all 3 mines on at the beginning of a hunt, it's almost always a guaranteed wyvern ride too (for Village quests at least) :D
This is what I did only with the izuchi pierce rapid. line 3 mines up along the spine then blast the whole monster to pieces with rapid pierce 1
Always love this one since it really reminds me of taroth support especially the ease of play like you mentioned
Unreal, so glad to c that I had the same idea as u and it was optimal. The armored bream escaped me totally. Currently on 6 star, this new piece will add more dps.🤩👍
I admit the damage looks a lot better than using a rapid pierce itachi but it's just way more satisfying to just light a monster up with a pierce burst right down the middle. I feel like pierce also works the best with the vault as you don't need to be super precise with where your mine lands. Faster hunts are definitely better but plonking normal shots into a monsters dome for the entirety of the village/hub quests would get super dull.

Dang had I trouble setting up keybinds for this game. Glad you helped! Im playing evade extender bow with the dmg dodge and its so much fun cutting tails and parrying attacks.
Great gun with rapid up hr armor. Im on 6 star quests now and never failed one quest yet online or off. Looking forward to trying out the pierce, sticky builds etc on lbg. Thx.

Unfortunately for bow you do a lot more damage playing melee bow for a long time. Might as well play a different weapon

I live and die by the MHR rapid pierce, I don’t care how meta sticky spam is-rapid pierce is the peak of third person shooting fun in MH.
I had rise on the switch and got pretty far as a gunner well now I have rise on my steam deck and it's daunting 2 build everything all over again. This video is a godsend
Isn't izuchi way better? Just spam pierce 1 rapid till the monster dies. has rapid slicing too.
Pierce RF is very, very nice, but a lot of the monsters at low rank are quite small so you don't get many ticks of damage and very few armour pieces have pierce up. Swings and roundabouts. Now that you mention that it has Slicing RF, I might start using it to cut tails :)
@@m.bennett9656 I found it to absolutely melt village monsters and carry me to nargacuga pierce 2 rapid. Maybe normal 2 rapid is better but pierce rapid is so much more fun to use.
RapidFireP1 are extremely weak early game. The game really rounds down your dmg since Pierce 1 has low MotionValues and combined with the RapidFire dmg modifier is almost impossible to increase your damage with skills that increase your Raw.
That combined with most monsters not having large enough weakspots and Pierce one tick rate being too long compared to Pierce2 makes it a bad option.
RapidSlicing is decent but without skills like RapidFireUp3, SpareShot3, WeaknessExploit3 and CritBoost3 it's better to opt for Normal ammo since it would last for the entire hunt compared to Slicing at early game only working for around 2mins
What is the state of LBG vs HBG nowadays? Been seeing threads on the MH Meta subreddit that the LBG simply does too many things better than the HBG except for sticky (but it's also something the LBG can do) but those threads are from a few months ago.
Those posts are still correct. There is literally no reason to use HBG over LBG unless you want to abuse Stickies, since that's the only thing that it does better than LBG (which is ironically the exact opposite of how things were in World). It's unfortunate, but that's what happens when you make mobility and raw be the only two differentiating factors between two different weapon types.
@@theguywithnoaccount They're really not. HBG consistently outpaces LBG clear times except in matchups where LBG can abuse RF slicing or pierce. It's not like world where HBG completely dunked on every other weapon, but HBG is hardly outclassed by LBG. HBG is slightly less user friendly because of the lower mobility.
@@MortemDeum Yes, HBG surpasses LBG in most speedrun times, but if you actually watch all of those crazy fast HBG runs then you'll notice a single connecting thread: they're all full lockdown strats. Whether it be Sticky + Wyvernfire, Sticky + Elemental, or dunk locking the Raths with Sticky + Spread, the end results still show the same thing: HBG only surpasses LBG when it turns the monster into a living damage pole. You either don't use Stickies and suffer or you use Stickies and break the game; those are your only options with HBG. If we're talking just general gunning with any other ammo type (which is what the vast majority of casual players will be doing), then HBG is objectively worse than LBG.
Also, go try and solo a monster like Barioth, Tigrex, Goss, Magna, or any of the elders (especially Valstrax) with Normal or Spread HBG, then do it again but with the respective LBG. I guarantee you will find it to be way more than "slightly less" user friendly.
Glad to read lbg is in such a good spot I just don't like playing hbg skill issue for me :') but if someone prefers hbg they should run that
Since im still a normal guy i went with the zinogre line after i got to where i could make the last one on its line, now rapid fire n2 5 rounds of n3 and rapid slicing is pretty tasty with the 10% affinity on it too.

Still haven't found a weapon I find enjoyable in Rise, so going back to my World roots and gonna give LBG a try.
What customization options do you put on the Bowgun? I don't think you mentioned customization in your video
You're probably way past the point of using this build but to answer your question power barrel
The bone tree comes with rapid 2 and rapid spread and rapid fire pierce
Pierce and spread need specific skills to be good normal can be okay at the start without it needs skills to be optimal but passable for early quests without
why not going to normal 3 once you hit prime? i assume just cause the gunpowder is more expensive? or going to zinogre lbg once you unlock it to have access to the slicing as a secondary ammo

The way normal 3 calculates damage is shit basically. But after leveling you wanna swap to narga for pierce or zinogre lbg with slicing.
@@froghank that doesn't matter, normal 3 is still stronger than normal 2. rapid fire generally is a disadvantage because the rapid fire recoil is worse than just the single fire recoil

My best assumption is becahse of the gunpowder and to save ammo(?)
I want to say that the recoil and reload could also play a role in that department but once you hit prime you have Low recoil and the second fastest reload.
Also, yeah the other 2 comments don't make sense. Rapid Fire only tends to be good to save ammo altho Pierce2 on Narga is a different case because of the good recoil/reload/clipsize/affinity/slots/raw and also because of the almost nonexistant upgrade that Pierce2 to Pierce3 gets while with other ammo like Normal3 or Spread3 the RapidFire2 versions are weaker even with RapidFireUp3.
And for the second comment that person's comment is actually backfiring at him, round down and damage calculation does not really favor RapidFiring ammo since it tends to round down our damage so usually having one high MotionValue (for example, one hit that does 30 MV) tends to be better than a bunch of small MVs (like 5 hits that do 6MV) because the game would round down the small numbers if they don't surpass the 0.9 decimals

It's the exact same case for HBG in regards to Normal being the best ammo type. Just grab the Kelbi HBG (Rapidcaster) and it will carry you through the entire game.

@@theguywithnoaccount yeah, I get that. Thankfully I'm a Lance main so I guess low damage at times is so mething I can live with. (Although I think bow in rise is low-key spoiling me lol)
@@xenvakt300995 LMAO, ok that "I main Lance so I'm used to low damage" got a good laugh out of me. But it's less that HBG does worse damage (HBG hits just as hard if not harder than LBG) and more that it has atrocious mobility... in a game that's heavily centered around high mobility. It can lead to *a lot* of frustrating moments. Also, the tackle is gotten from crafting/upgrading 8 unique HBGs, so you can't even get its best defensive tool until a good ways into the game.
