Bruh in Barrusu’s speed run the doggos cut the tail by themselves?! Damn. It’s hard to want to give up my plunder palicos, but this is tempting me! I never get tails cut with my main.
The tail cut is super random because they attack random part of the body. And his Palamute use Large Shuriken instead of scrolls.
Better run 1 gathering palico if you still need materials.

I shit you not I was looking for a vid on this subject and the man delivers. Thanks for all the vids you showed me the cheese back in Iceborne and I haven't looked back since.
Don't forget, if you're wanting some consistent damage on longer fights, it's definitely viable to go with large shuriken instead of the scroll. Less bursty but gives them some damage still when silkbinder is on CD.
The shuriken also helps apply status as well.

In your video you state attack L > pierce up, but bata uses pierce up, is this due to testing or just preferance?

I want to put this in perspective.
Hi, "hackerman" here. I do solo hunts with a DPS meter and use mods. That said, none of the mods I use change game values like damage, so my mods wont really affect these numbers:
Usually my cats will do 4-8 DPS and my dogs might go to 12-13. Support-Centric Cats hardly break the 3 DPS mark.
I made two dogs following this guide, one with the RAW build, the other with the status build. My RAW dog named "Right" was doing a consistent 30-40 DPS. While my Status dog named "Left" was doing 25-35 DPS and applied sleep twice.
I don't really play with randoms that much because I treat Monster Hunter as a solo game first and foremost, but I reckon most people have a DPS around 30-50*. With sweaties like us probably being above 100 DPS on average at current.
My DPS meter is set up to only count "real" damage for DPS too, so if a dog popped afflicted it wouldn't count for their DPS etc.
Its fucking lunacy holy shit, Barrusu you beautiful bastard have made a Monster out of these poor Dogs.
*If you're so into Monster Hunter you watch guides on how to optimize your dogs, you are not an average player, and your DPS is likely higher.
What mod displays buddy damage? I've been wanting to see that for awhile

First step is to change your polico to a palamute then follow the steps in the video
This just made me happy because it seems I ended up building my ranged palamute almost exactly this way before even seeing this video only difference is having 9 lives and Affinity Scroll but choice in skills and weapon are exactly the same.
I believe through testing the Secret Support Skill: Felyne Powered Up that it actually resets the cooldown on Silkbinder and Scrolls!!! I run Gathering Palico/Status Turret Doggo. It's hard to not run this setup... Lose out on Kittenator but... Powered Up is spicy!

Thank you for this info! I've been looking at Palamutes for a while now since I miss using one or two of them. That said, I'd like to ask a few questions:
1) Does this set-up still work for when using melee weapons?
2) Can the Dog Silkbind can still be triggered by aerial DB/IG?
3) How does the Support-Centric skill compare to the other 2-slot skills? Does the uptime on the palamute gadgets offset the lower attack/def because of Support-Centric or is it just an outright damage loss for the dogs?
1. The guns are a ranged attack so using melee dogs is a huge damage loss.
2. Yes, anything that causes mounting damage.
3. Losing damage. Support-centric is recommended for palicos though

The shots fired during fanning manuever also do mounting damage, initiate the fight with that and you get the damage boost and yours dogs can rock out with their glock out (and you dont have you use that sad little BB gun silkbind)
my group has been running this palamute set-up for a while and it's great but we noticed that they tend to break sleep very often too. we've tried stopping the moment the monster gets sleepy but the palamutes sometimes still burst down the target. has anyone else experienced this?
Shouldn't be an issue if you swap to a para weapon. Paralysis is better for multi-player since that's a big window that the entire squad gets to whale on the monster, as opposed to sleep only giving that one big hit and often getting ruined by the dogs
So, Affinity up L gives 20% affinity which results in an average 1.05 multiplier. If the raw damage is 500 or more (which is the case with this setup) that would result in a damage increase >= 25 = Attack up L, so is it worth considering Affinity up L over Attack up L? Do the explosions of the Throwarm scroll proc crits, or would you have to switch to the large Shuriken?
Maybe when im done with farming mats, as of now pilfer is still the king, but i have used dog in a couple runs,and it just felt such fast kills with them
Simply use one Pilfer Palico and one Panzer Palamute.
Idk why game companies don't think players want to know all this info... just make it explicitly CLEAR and not require extensive testing

Shuriken can't be used while the Silkbinder is active. And since this is for gunners, hunts arent gonna be that long lmao
@@Barrusu That makes sense. The other video he mentioned used shuriken for the no weapon test. I wanna do this with HH but actually contributing obviously. I didn't know the dogs could get that strong, even without attack up.
@@Zasurein I used shuriken because the silkbinder wouldnt last the entire hunt. It lasts 3 minutes, and I got nearly 4. Needed that extra damage at the end. But honestly a scroll might've been better even in that case cuz I wasnt expecting to get such a good time
@@Barrusu Thank you. Do you happen to know the cooldown on the ballista for the palamutes? Im not exactly good at the game so I'm hoping that building up the palamutes while using HH will give okay times on late game monsters too. Frankly im okay with any hunts below 10 minutes even. I also noticed you built into defense passives for the palamutes, do you think that was necessary?
@@Zasurein Cool down is 3 minutes and lasts for 3 minutes. It activates the same way again, by applying mount or just randomly on a timer. The counter abilities are specifically for palamute-only runs since Rathian targets them way more than me.

Oh, I already left my palicoes behind in favor of the palamutes because of the mini turrets (sorry kitties...), best decision I made in the game. 😁

For status wouldn't it be better to take Attack Up (L} over Piercing Attack Up? Just tryna figure things out lol
Piercing barely outdamages Atk Up L. They're similar but Piercing is better when the silkbinder is out

All new to MH franchaise, but is this strictly just for whoever that goes ranged build like bow, HBG etc? Or does this work if youre using a melee build?
It works for melee, they'll still follow you close to the monster but use their ranged attacks from close range instead of switching to melee as they would if you didn't have ranged-centric on.

It’s good for mounting and part breaks, it’s not a high damage ability it’s mainly there for utility.
@@kingkurasaki4095 so after you spam all of the ammo, you shoot the glowing thing that stick to the monster with ur Gun ? or any weapon that target that area can also break it as well and not just the Gunner
Does this work with a melee weapon? I'm using the same set up but my dogs only want to melee and never use the gun on there back.

@@Barrusu I am using Ranged-Centric. As I said I am using the same set up, same skills, but using a melee weapon. I've saw the rathian video and he was using hunting horn and the dogs used there guns on there backs. Not sure what else Im doing wrong.

You can choose wether to take one cat and dog. Or 2 dogs or 2 cats. U can mix and match
Palamutes do way more damage than Palicos but they can't trap/status or steal gems for me. If I'm playing solo I usually bring my dog with: Silkbinder - Flurry Strike - Ranged Attack Up - Ranged Centric - Attack Up L
Edit: Flurry Strike makes every shot a critical hit but Throwarm could be better for the 15% damage
Palamutes apply status significantly faster than cats do. I've had hunts where the monster is paralyzed within the first 30 seconds, meanwhile my cat is sitting on his arse trying to look helpful. Palamutes legitimately shorten the hunt time by a noticeable margin, I don't think I can go back to using cats
I like using both, multiplayer isn’t my fav and I love the deeps and status of the dog and the support of the palico. Have fun with what ya got and enjoy it ya want to shorten hunts by using palamutes only sure do it. Want to use redirection? Do it.
I think I'm double Palico for life. I'm also so used to just running around on foot that Palico's feel almost too fast when running around with them.
I don't think I can go back to palicos unless I'm specifically using bow. Dogs do a lot of damage and noticeably shorten hunts. That, and I'm using a lot of protective polish these days and being able to sharpen while moving is very nice
Dogs are just super powerful in that they let you sharpen while *moving*

you hire a pet with it. then after it has unlocked it you can give it to others.
How do I find all those skills? I am missing skills like Range-Centric and Piercing Attack Up.
Those two are new buddy skills recently added in Sunbreak so you probably have to hire a few new dogs or cats with them.
