The Toyota Dyna is a light to medium-duty cab over truck for commercial use. In the Japanese market, the Dyna is sold alongside its twin called the Toyoace. The Dyna was also sold as the Daihatsu Delta and the Hino Dutro.
In Japan, its traditional competitors are the Isuzu Elf, the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter and the Nissan Atlas.
The Dyna was originally available in Japan only at Toyota Diesel Store locations, then later available at Toyota Store locations, while the Toyoace twin was available at Toyopet Store locations.
The tipper unit is manufactured by Scatollini and installed at Toyota’s commercial vehicle production centre in Portugal, where all Dyna models for the European market are built.
The Dyna 300 and 350 are powered by Toyota’s 2.5-litre D-4D engine with outputs of 88 and 102bhp respectively. As well as offering excellent torque performance, the engine is fuel frugal, returning superior consumption figures in independent media group tests.
The short wheelbase 300 SWB has a gross vehicle weight of 3,000kg and the medium wheelbase 350 MWB has a GVW of 3,500kg. This load carrying capability is not at the expense of manoeuvrability: the SWB version has an exceptionally tight 4.5m turning radius, while the figure for the MWB model is 4.9m.

What about Hino? They’re basically a Dyna. Here in Australia they’ve pretty much dropped the Toyota trucks and just sell everything badged as Hino.

Cause you can’t kill them. I upgraded last year and bought a 2005 Hino Dutro, but my old ‘88 Dyna still gets used around the farm. The engine just keeps going and going.
